You have a lovely garden and we all learn as we grow, I'm a 65 year old Australian and because we moved out to the coast I'm having to garden very differently to what I was used to. 😉😊🙃

Thank you for your comment! What part of Australia are you from? My sister, husband and I visited Brisbane last year and love the area!

Beer isn't needed for snail/slug traps, just mix yeast with water. Products I had great success with are Sluggo and Sluggo Plus. Sluggo uses Iron Phosphate to get snails and slugs. What doesn't get eaten becomes fertilizer. Sluggo Plus uses a bacteria to kill earwigs, cutworms, sowbugs and pillbugs/rolly pollies.
All I can recommend for deer is a fence at least 7 ft tall.
