A supremely talented artist that has been overlooked and ignored by the music industry. He is most unfortunately retired from music to my knowledge. Too bad for us because it’s very hard to find an artist who possesses such excellence.
The guy is an amazing talent and brilliant songwriter; right up there with Prince, in my book. "The Lost Album" could very well be my fave album of all-time. The last i heard he was doing comedy writing for TV. A huge loss to the music world.
He wasn't ignored. He was signed by Island Records but he didn't want to live the lifestyle of a popular musician and cancelled tour dates that were primed to give him US exposure. The record label didn't know exactly where to place him but it wasn't for lack of interest. I had tickets to a show he cancelled in 2006. I'm still upset about it but I can't say I blame him for choosing to live a private life. I'm just glad I was exposed to his music.
@@billymarsh4715 Where did you hear he's doing comedy? He keeps his occupation hidden even in this interview in 2016 --> souljones.com/exclusive-features/2016/6/14/questions-answers-lewis-taylor
@@clementkee1993 I don't know if it's true but I started trying to find out more about his music after getting into "The Lost Album" and ran across more than a few interviews with associates and friends who said he was writing comedy for some UK television shows at the time. This was probably 15 or more years ago.
I was friends with Lewis sound engineer and got to see Lewis live in Ronnie Scott's in 97'. Being a singer/songwriter myself, I was crazy to meet him after the gig, but I was too awestruck to go up and shake his hand and say hi.😢 He's up there with D'angelo as a singular talent!!! 👏👏👏
masterpiece! the UK Prince/D'Angelo with a splash of Hendrix, luckily got to see him live at the Jazz Cafe in Camden and the crowd had the BVs on point !!
BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms used to Sing his Praises and Interviewed him Pre a London Jazz Cafe Gig Back in the early 2000’s. First heard ‘Bittersweet’ on Vanessa Feltz radio show at BBC London. A Sensational Dude and always in my Top 10 of Playback Listings! Just Amazing!
I love this man! I have three of his CDs!! I was told he was the band leader for one of CeeLo Green bands . I was informed that he retired from the music industry for some reason he had enough of whatever? I hope he come back around again he is so talented and so cute!!😄💖🎸👀 if I'm not mistaking I think the keyboard player was formerly with Simply Red..
There used to be another live studio version of this song posted on RUclips. Maybe they were appearing on someone’s radio show or podcast, something like that. It’s a little more R&B Rock than the original. I can’t find it anymore. Does anyone have it or can educate me about the details? Thanks so much!
Here's an interesting bit of info on Lewis Taylor, there was a single which came out in 1980 which is credited to The Cring Shames 'featuring' Andy taylor and everybody seems to think it's Andy Taylor of Duran Duran, despite the fact that Andy has denied having anything to do with it. Turns out that the Andy in question is actually Lewis aged 14. He certainly kept that one quiet, I'm not surprised, it's more horrible than Sheriff Jack! Here's a link to it ruclips.net/video/5N_tqSFBgsU/видео.html and here's a bit of information if you scroll down to the last comment after the article on this blog left-and-to-the-back.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/the-crying-shames-over-my-head-autumn.html There's also a link to a track he did for a Syd Barrett tribute album back in the mid eighties ruclips.net/video/fHtYM28bGuo/видео.html There's a load of stuff that seems to be floating around about him. Strange person!" lol
I was the drummer in that video and he to date is the single most talented multi instrumentalist producer songwriter singer I have ever come across let alone played with. I bet he’s still around but just ghost writing. Have no clue where he is now.
I searched for him for fun , remembering being there when he made his very first PV at a live venue in London 21years ago. I saw an ad at the language school I was attending then saying something like come and be a part of a music video. I really enjoyed the shooting but unfortunately I don't remember much of it, so I was hoping to see it here but could find it . We got the single Whoever for being there and later on, I got his first album and still have them both here at my hand. I still listen to his music and find it quite nice. Hope he still plays his music.
Legitamtely brilliant artist. His debut album is one of those records that makes you stand up and scream.

I hear he's coming back.... thank goodness for Lewis
Just started listing to him. My god his voice. Like a Baby Face, Simply Red, touch of Micheal Bolton. Big fan of him, hope he feels the love
Bloody beautiful ! Love this soulful man
Genius. Top 5 of all time. His voice live rivals his studio recordings.
