Wow I’m so happy for finding you on the tubes. Those earth pigments are stunning. I must say I don’t get jealous but only with the art stores and the ranges you have in the states, Canada and Europe in comparison to Australia 🇦🇺. Last time I was in Canada I brought an extra suitcase just for art supplies lol. Molly you are so inspiring and thank you for sharing your struggles and overcoming them with motherhood and creating. I’m not a Mother but I have chronic health issues and am so scared to post. Earthy greens are so yummy
I’m a newby to the world of acrylics (former watercolorist) so I’ve been listening to you and other artists. Someone mentioned using air paint spray (some sort) of thinner medium instead of water to prevent acrylics from flaking. I don’t know how to judge that advice, and thinking it may be too toxic for me. The advice wasn’t to use a sprayer but in brush, pour applications. Anyway happy creating!
That is correct. This is WAY WAY too much water. For the amount of acrylic inks and paint used, there's not enough binder in this mixture. No more than 30% water to binder and pigment. This is 75% water. If she's not adding about a cup of matte medium or another acrylic binder, her paintings will literally disintegrate. 😢 Liquitex and Golden's websites tell you how much their products can be diluted.
This is nuts - I love it! Your experimental approach is so adventurous with instant coffee and whatever. I'm a figurative artist, working in oil, where that approach would be disastrous, but I'm looking forward to seeing where things go😃💕
So glad you're sharing your process. I, too, love a limited and more neutral palette which I've had to learn to embrace as being okay. It's what feels right. I'll be looking forward to your future videos on how you approach your art. Thanks much!
I’m so excited for your video series! You’ve been such an inspiration and seeing inside your process is so helpful. I’m also obsessed with an earthy palette so this was super helpful!!! Thank you for sharing!! ❤
Super helpful! I have some pigments I purchased to make watercolors but now I’ve shifted towards acrylics and wasn’t sure what I could do with these pigments, this is so simple with the Matt medium and I love the simplicity of adding water to dissolve the pigments. I was definitely overthinking it! Always enjoy peaking into the way different artists work, so thank you for this series. I’ve been playing with the premade colors I have and making different combinations to see what I like working with, just the variety I am able to accomplish. Congratulations on your new addition!!! Very exciting and overwhelming trying to find that balance-more so when working for yourself I imagine! I’d love to see how you take all these elements and incorporate them into a painting! Appreciate your time and effort, truly looking forward to the rest of this series! 👏
@sharonm3185 thank you so much for your kind words, Sharon!! You should check out the earth pigments website because they have some good recommendations as well!
Yay😊. So happy you are starting to make videos so that I can learn from you. I am really inspired by your work, the earthy colors, textures, shapes...feels like my world too💛.
There should never be more than 30% water because it compromises the integrity of the paint. Less water, more binder, or your paint will crumble right off the canvas.
Hey Molly! How lovely to meet you now on RUclips as well! I didn't know you started a channel 🙌. I'm following you on Instagram for a whole while already and love to read your newsletters! Greetings from a fellow artist RUclipsr 😊👋
Hi Nicole! I've had one for a while but haven't utilized it. Once I decided to do this 6 month technique series I was deciding where to upload the videos and landed on RUclips! Figured this was better than Dropbox so I could see people comment and interact :) Thanks for watching!

Thank you for inspiring us to be intuitive
Brilliant 👏thank you.
Love the colours 🤗
Beautiful colors, thanks. I am going to use them today! 🩷🩷
Thank you for sharing ❤ im intrested in how you build the art work up and what you doing when the artwork looks too dark trough the coffee filters
Gorgeous colors! I love violet oxide so now I'm inspired to try mixing it with some other colors. Thanks for sharing some of your process with us.
Thank you! It is such a beautiful color!
Thanks for the video!
Thank you for sharing. So inspiring and really needed this at this time in my life!
So happy to hear :)
Dunno if i got this right ,so either i mix the pigment with water or with a binder ? Or with both?
Both! A little bit of water first to break up the pigment and smooth it out. Then add a binder, like matte medium!
