My Ninja 1000SX 2020 has just started getting the oil light at lowest tick over and I had already suspected this as the cause. I have a bit more fairing to remove to get to it, but at least now I know where to look. The bike is still in warranty so may take it in and get a new one... except I now live over 90 minutes ride from a dealer. Thanks for sharing, most helpful.
I had this Oil Sensor issue with my Z900 (6000 kms on the odometer) yesterday after cleaning the engine. Rode the bike for 300 kms hoping the engine temperature will dry humidity but did not work. Used this video to fix the problem, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from Costa Rica.
They should have reset the count at service so now your bike thinks it is service time. You can reset it yourself through the settings in the display. Others have done vids on this which you can follow, it's easy enough.
Thanks Dave, that's a great idea and I should have mentioned some of the possible treatments such as making a small hole in the bottom of the rubber boot (didn't want to do that myself). So, as you say, the best option is to protect the terminal, which in my case was done with Silicon Grease but I imagine you would be more likely to have Vaseline to hand :-)
Another re-occuring fault on my Z is the ABS coming on after (pressure) washing. Dry the ABS sensors with compressed air afterwards, job done, light off and the ABS working fine again!
I could not stop to notice that when the ignition key was turned on, there was a POWER indicator that comes on for short second, I have this issue on my z900. Any idea as to what is causing this? Kawasaki diagnostic did not show anything wrong..
I think that is by design. Power indicator for a short time, engine light until it starts and I think the ABS light stays on until you get down the road.
@@bikerevz Thanks Mark. This is not the case with other bikes that I checked. There has been no problem cos of this but I just don't want this to be an underlying issue for a later time. Will let you know if I find out more. Thanks!
@@bikerevz no pressure wash and no wet riding. Garden hose only. Washed bike 2x. It’s only got 450 miles on it. Hoping it’s the sensor and not the oil pump. Will find out next week

Thanks, good to hear it helped. That's what it's all about!
Gr8 vid, mark. I need to remember that when it happens to my z900. Ride safe, god bless u.
Thanks, you too!
Thank you very much , I was scared when seen this light in the display ..thanks again from Spain
No worries!
Thanks a lot mate, with the help of your video I've fixed the blinking oil light on 2020 Ninja 1000sx 👍
Great stuff - that's what it's all about !
yo dope thanks man had the smae problem. POWER TO THE PEOPLE !
Very informative, Thank you
other solution is on the oil filter side, remove and put some engine oil to it then put it back. You can try and error
Thank you for vid
Hey i have the wrenge Tool Symbol in the Display bottom legt side. This was After the First Service. Why is it there now?

You could put some Vaseline on the sensor terminal, like you do on battery terminals, to stop the corrosion recurring

Filled that rubber boot to the brim with high temperature grease...
Sorted, albeit a bit messy. ;)
That's the way! I'm sure they could do a bit better with the design on this.
Best to use dielectric grease IMHO.

Good to know, thanks. I don't use a pressure washer, I've heard too many stories like this!

Mine has 450 miles and is in the shop for this right now. 2023. Hoping is just the sensor.
You have the oil light? If so then I'm wondering if you have ridden much in the wet or do you pressure wash the bike?

20000km on my z900 2021, i had ktrc blinking once, but it went away after 300km or so
I have the KTRC (traction control) blinking quite a bit when I give it some throttle in Road Mode! Nothing to worry about 😂
Great video well done 👍👍
Didn't had any problem like this one... And mine is on 25k km.
