    Once again a trip across the lake to remove bees from Nick's home, I think he really likes me and Charlie. A great time once again and a super cool queen capture on top of it. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all.

    So happy you found Her Majesty lurking under the vac... This vid was a tad bitter sweet for me. Usually I would sit with my Father In Law and watch, he really enjoyed your videos Mr Ed. Sadly he suddenly got called home last Tuesday evening. I will miss doing Bee things and hanging out with him, he was more than just my FIL, he was my best friend as well.

    ❤You all have gotten 6 hives out from under her bed? Why has this woman not just taken up beekeeping? You know the minute she wants 'em there, they'll all go away, right?🤪
    I want so badly to be prepared to get my own bees when they fly out of my buddies wall this year. Thing is, it doesn't make sense to spend all the money to do it, only to find, maybe, it's too much (had 2 cancer surgeries last year). I wish there was a beekeeping club, to sign out the gear. Then, if a person couldn't keep up with it, whatever beekeeper helped set up, would get the boxes, queen & honey.

    I grew up in Maine and my grandparents had a big beautiful magnolia like that one you showed at the beginning. It bloomed later than this obviously. This is one reason why the Northeast doesn't really have any summer dirths. The spring bloom overlaps with the summer bloom, which overlaps with the fall bloom. Just a long cold winter, although it has gotten noticeably more mild than it was when I was a kid 40 years ago.

    Since the owner won't secure the house, you have job security for life. You know that you will have at least one removal a year. The damage done over and over, could be prevented by blocking access. He must enjoy your company and visits.

    • @apveening
      @apveening 7 месяцев назад +2

      Little damage done by now, the floor boards are already cut, so can easily be lifted without doing further damage.
      As it is a regular recurrence and that space seems deep enough, I would recommend putting a couple of boxes with frames in there. It will make the next job a lot quicker and easier and the comb will already be in frames as well. The only thing left is to check for the queen.

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  6 месяцев назад +2

      Drones are the male honey bee, and their only role in a hive is to mate with a queen bee. The reason there are so many of them is drones flood the area they are in in hopes of mating with queens in the area. Once mating season is over, and if the drone did not mate and die, it returns to a hive until fall when it is pushed out of the hive to starve. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace Janet.

The good news is that the roaches do no harm to the bees, comb, or honey which is one reason the bee allow their presence. Thanks for watching. God's peace Kimberly.

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  7 месяцев назад +1

      The bed room door is closed, but as long as there is a window in the room, the bees will automatically head to that as it is the nearest source of light and they want to fly to light. No doubt the honey will taste different as the nectar source is going to be different at the abbey. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Annette.

    Is there something you can put in there to discourage the bees from making a new hive in there?

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  7 месяцев назад +3

      To my knowledge, there is nothing on the market that will discourage a swarm from entering a spot where a previous hive has been, at least permanently. The reason a swarm is attracted is due to the propolis that has been impregnated into the wood, that scent NEVER dissipates. If you want to become an instant millionaire, be the first to come up with the formula to mask the propolis scent permanently. The best way to discourage the return of a new swarm is closing all the entrances to the spot and filling completely the void in the space with insulation. Safe travels brother. God's peace Shawn.

    How much does bee removal cost? I was quoted 1500 that's between exterior wall. What to do if you have income for this expense?

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  2 месяца назад

      The cost of bee hive removals varies from local to local, and on the person who is doing the removal. Some professional removers do it for a job and make their living by doing it, and some beekeepers do it to increase the number of hives in their bee yards. I would suggest contacting your county agent, or finding a bee club or beekeeper in your area, and inquiring about the possibility of finding a beekeeper who would be interested in rescuing the bees and not making a profit by doing so. Can't help but say,
    If the homeowner is set on leaving the floor space as swarm traps, why not lean into it?
    Scrounge some shallow frames with comb. Set up a rail system, and make each joist space a partial long box? "Furnish the house" for the next swarm.
    Seems that the time to set up is gained back on the first wrangling.

      Actually, the reason the bees keep coming back is because so many other colonies of bees have been there previously. And when the next colony moves in, I will go get it.I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 14 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Khan.

    Ohhh, those bees going in for the STING and hitting the camera as they are, they might as well be flying directly into my face, makes me cringe! Just imagine playing this sound next to someone's ear as they slept! LOL.
    NOW, what's up with these folks that they NEVER get around to sealing off that BIG gap that allows the bees to return to set up home time after time, you need to have a talk with them!

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  7 месяцев назад +2

      As I am not paid to remove the bees from a site, repair is all on the homeowner. I give detailed instructions on what needs to be done and how to do it, but the responsibility of actually doing the work falls on the homeowner. @@JeffHorchoff Hi Ed, thanks for replying :) ... Oh, for sure, not much one can do when folks don't follow advice, bees of all sorts love those holes and cracks that lead to an open cavity to set up home. These people just must really like seeing you make an annual return. I once had come around the corner of my house to see about 50 scout bees furiously checking out a little space where the overhead bulkhead of the solarium had met the house. I thought of grabbing the garden hose to spray water at them, but then decided best deterrent would be to grab a galvanized pail to make a smudge in, worked like a charm! Shortly afterwards, I had left home and just down the road a few hundred feet was a swarm clung to a power pole, those poor guys had been on the way to my house and now lost their home and hope were able to find an alternative on short notice. Come to think of it, I had used the smudge method another time to deter a swarm from moving into the control room of our grain handling system.
      Yep, for sure will follow you to watch of your other adventures! :) Terry

    If I even hear a single bee in my house I'm running, screaming, for the front door slapping at my ears like they're on fire. This guy stands in a literal room full of bees, no mask on, and doesn't even flinch. Absolute madman.
