It's funny, your biggest issue with the Heroin Eggs is what makes them great for me, as a 5'7 guy I live for the nice agile wheel base and most other brands shaped boards seem to have 14.5"+ wheelbases whereas Heroin goes wide but keeps it shorter.
Hbd boss! You should try using the chems wheelbase drilling tool to adjust your wheelbase to what you need. Zack dowdy and Robbie Rodriguez have a few videos using it and talking about the pros and cons
How does the 15" WB benefit you? What specifically are you able to do, or do better, with a board with a 15" wb? Is it mainly less squirrely ride away down stairs vs 14.25" wb?
Because I’m so tall and heavy that being able to stand with my legs wider apart makes me more stable and comfortable dude! Especially if I’m jumping down something big if my feet are closer together (because of a shorter wheelbase) it just ends up pushing my knees together and not being that great for my joints. I feel pretty comfortable on a 14.25” wheelbase if I’m just skating basic spots or skatepark but for the bigger stuff I definitely feel better in a longer board if that makes sense lol
I was riding the Antihero Orange Crusher for the last 2 years, and someone gifted me a Heroin egg and I instantly fell in love with it, but have had the same concerns as you. @@LeonPaxton I’ve seen some of the eggs that have the adjustable wheelbase. I can’t remember the name of em but they have extra holes if you want a longer setup
Yeah there are a few out there for sure. It’s tricky for me since I like the symmetrical eggs though so I would have to customise it myself and push out both trucks to keep it symmetrical 🤔
You should ask to Control skateboard manufacturers based in Levis (Quebec/Canada) they can make custom boards and they just realised a new egg shape few month ago,so it should be possible to make length and wheelbase of your choice!!
Size 12us shoes that 9.75 looks ideal for my feet What truck size and brand you using for that 9.75 egg? The dimensions reckon it’s 9.38 over the trucks .. what you recommend ?
Yeah dude it would be, I’m US11 and love these boards! I’ve got 9” Slappy trucks on this board but I’ve had them from when I was riding the 9.5” Razor egg which is 9.1” over the trucks but I haven’t bothered to size up for this 9.75” board. I probably won’t go up in truck size unless I move up to a 10” board lol
@@LeonPaxton G'day Leon, what was your preference between the 9" Slappy"s you mentioned above and your 9" Ace's that I saw your reviews on? In one you rode them straight out of the box and another on " How to make Ace's even better", your advice was to swap all bushings for the harder 94a's or can swap only the lower barrel bushing to 94a IIRC. I didn't catch any reviews you might have done on your Slappy's and I'm curious what your preference is. I'm also wondering if you rode Ace's with standard kingpins or just the "limited Curb Crusher" Inverted kingpin version? And the same thing with the Slappy's-: standard or inverted kingpins? I'm wondering if you found the much improved kingpin clearance on the (slightly higher) Slappy's compared with Ace's or forged Indy's standard kingpin clearance to be any real benefit? Both Ace's and Slappy's appear to be a much improved version of the old Indy Stage IV (4) and I'm trying to avoid catching a case of "Truck Madness" and buying both brands to see for myself... I've already got a case of board madness. ATM I'm liking the sound of the Slappy hollows with the standard kingpins but almost solely because of the much better kingpin to hangar clearance they've achieved compared to Ace and Indy S4's, I've also heard Slappy's don't wheel bite as much. I'd be interested in your thoughts as you've skated both. I started skating in 1986 (old Prahran bowl/pool) and just turned 50, I just started skating again after about 8 or 9 years off the board to encourage/ teach my 9 year old daughter and probably hurt myself doing so. All these new trucks sound great but I'd be grateful for a little guidance. Cheers
Yeah I'm going to test out a wheelbase mod kit and see if I can re drill and extend the wheelbase but I'm not sure how that will effect the board overall since then the kicks would be slightly smaller 🤔
grimple stix just realeased a 10" egg with a 14.62 wheelbase. almost the same dimensions as the heroin 10" but a longer wheelbase so overall longer board. CENTER WIDTH (IN): 10.0 LENGTH (IN): 33.25 WHEELBASE (IN): 14.62 NOSE (IN): 7.25 TAIL (IN): 7.375
Differents brands of truck affect your wheelbase too. Indys give you a shorter wheelbase. Krux gives you a longer wheelbase. Other trucks are somewhere in between.
Yeah dude, Thunder have a longer wheel base too but then that changes the turn and how your nose and tail slides work. It's hard to find the perfect truck that does everything lol
I would say at least an 8.5” board dude if you’re the same size as me! But it depends on what type of skating you’re doing and what’s most comfortable for you though at the end of the day
@@LeonPaxton Yes it looks weird at first but I'm old and don't do any tricks off the nose anyways. Also in the longer wb position there isn't as much wheelbite clearance but it's my only board without wheelwells and I haven't had any problems. Had to put hard bushings in the ace 80's and run a 1/8" riser pad though..
It should help with slappy grinds though since there’s less nose to get in the way 🤔 Ok cool, I’ll have to consider that when I get this board. Thanks for the info man!
Powell Peralta just put out some 90's reissues that are egg shaped and have longer wheelbases or the guy that owns my local shop makes the Chems wheelbase mods.
I used to ride Thunders for years but since I started skating Indy's and Slappy trucks I'm not sure if I can go back to the Thunders that don't turn as well. Although that would definitely create a slightly wider wheel base and give me more stability like you said 🤔
I know you love your aces, but have you considered trying ventures with forged baseplates? Their geometry makes for a substantially wider real wheelbase. Look at Ben Degros videos on more info...
@@LeonPaxton venture only goes up to 8.75" axle with the 6.1 though. you could look at that with the krooked team klassic that comes with a 14.5" wheelbase and 9.1" width if that is not to slim for you by now
@@LeonPaxton also there is the new antihero gerwer grimple asphalt animals 10.0 twin nose egg with 33.37" length and 14.66" wheelbase. you could combine that with thunder 181s whose true wheelbase will be between ventures and aces...
Get that re-drilling tool and move your trucks 3/8" each either way. It'll shorten the nose & tail but they're over 7" on the Heroins anyway. 14.25+0.375+0.375=15 🤙
So Brand-X/Toxic skateboards has a 9in. What they call their eggy-pop shape and it has a 15in wheelbase. Also, it doesn't solve the lenght problem, but i could be worth getting one of those drill jigs from Chems skate and drill your wb a bit wider? Then again, you're a big dude goin down big stairs so that might not work out so well. Last thought: steal the nose/tail shapes off the Heroins and cut your shape out of a 10" pop!
Yeah dude, I've got them on the list to check out and it will be sick to support a local company 🙌🏼 I'm actually looking to use one of those wheelbase mods actually and trying that out but yeah I'm not sure how that would effect the board overall but it would still be cool to test it out! Sick dude, do it for sure! What size popsicle do you usually ride? I usually recommend people to go up1/2-1 inch from their popsicle size for an egg board. If you get the same size egg to your popsicle than it will feel smaller since it's only that wide in the middle and then the kicks taper and are smaller! Hopefully that makes sense and help lol

I've yet to try it, but the Welcome Boline 2.0 is apparently a 33" egg with either a 14.75 or 15" wb. I think it'll be my next setup.
I LOVE the razor edge though. I wish more companies were doing that.
Yeah dude, they are actually so addictive aren’t they! lol
I’ve been hearing about that board a lot so I think I’ll definitely have to check one out 🤔
The short wheel base has been what’s drawn me most to the egg boards!
Yeah I would love an egg with a longer wheel base but the short wheel base definitely makes them more skateable!
Happy birthday! I turned 50 the other day!! The problem with getting older is you have to do more tricks… I didn’t manage 50 at 50 🤣
Thanks dude, and Happy Birthday to you too 🥳
Hahaha that's true, I couldn't even manage 31 😅
You should ask to Control skateboard manufacturers based in Levis (Quebec/Canada) they can make custom boards and they just realised a new egg shape few month ago,so it should be possible to make length and wheelbase of your choice!!
That’s sick man, thanks! I’ll suss them out for sure 👌🏽
The Whitetail skateboards cheetah model has a 9.75 width and multiple wheelbase options
Sick, I’ll check that out for sure! Thanks man 🙏🏽
That place looks fun, great session
It's so fun man!
Size 12us shoes that 9.75 looks ideal for my feet
What truck size and brand you using for that 9.75 egg?
Cheers
did u try it Krooked Eyes ????
No I actually haven't yet, I totally forgot about that board! lol
Could you drill new holes for your trucks..?
Yeah I'm going to test out a wheelbase mod kit and see if I can re drill and extend the wheelbase but I'm not sure how that will effect the board overall since then the kicks would be slightly smaller 🤔
antihero huffer has 14.75wb i believe, little narrower, but legit shape
I've actually rode that board before and it was sick! The 9.1" sadly feels a bit too small for me now though lol
Happy Birthday Leon! Have a great day today! 🎂
Thanks so much man! 🥳
Hey mate, great videos. Black Widow blunt egg from Black Label is 9.25w 32.5l with 14.75wb, awesome deck
Thanks so much man! I've been getting a lot of recommendations to check out the Black Label boards so I'm definitely going to have to have a suss 👌🏼
grimple stix just realeased a 10" egg with a 14.62 wheelbase. almost the same dimensions as the heroin 10" but a longer wheelbase so overall longer board.
CENTER WIDTH (IN): 10.0
LENGTH (IN): 33.25
WHEELBASE (IN): 14.62
NOSE (IN): 7.25
TAIL (IN): 7.375
Oh sick! Where can I find one?
@@LeonPaxton probably not in australia yet since it came out last weekend. Its called: Frank Gerwer- Asphalt Animals
Oh true, that’s probably why I couldn’t find it anywhere lol
I’ll keep an eye out though, thanks dude!
Happy birthday brother!!
Thanks so much legend! 🙏🏽
Welcome? There some 9.5 x 33 x 14.5 eggish shapes… drill the mounting holes up a smidge, we would drill back the other way for more nose kick in 89 😂
Definitely need to try re drilling my wheelbase!
happy birthday leon !!!
Thanks so much legend 🙏🏽
I’m the same height and shoe size as you but I skate an 8.3. Should I go with bigger board?
I would say at least an 8.5” board dude if you’re the same size as me!
But it depends on what type of skating you’re doing and what’s most comfortable for you though at the end of the day
I’ve been riding 15”+ wb’s for awhile but I tried the Paul’s egg. 14.75” wb but it’s 10” wide. Really fun.
Damn, I've been looking at the Paul's Egg! Does it feel weird with the shorter nose though?
@@LeonPaxton Yes it looks weird at first but I'm old and don't do any tricks off the nose anyways. Also in the longer wb position there isn't as much wheelbite clearance but it's my only board without wheelwells and I haven't had any problems. Had to put hard bushings in the ace 80's and run a 1/8" riser pad though..
It should help with slappy grinds though since there’s less nose to get in the way 🤔
Ok cool, I’ll have to consider that when I get this board. Thanks for the info man!
Happy birthday Leon, I wish you that Heroin will start making 15 inch wheelbase egg boards next year 😅
Thanks heaps dude!
Yeah that would be amazing but I don't think Fos wants to make anything with a bigger wheel base than 14.5" lol
Happy birthday! I feel like Strangelove offers an egg with around a 15in wheelbase.
Thanks dude! Ok sick, I'll check them out. Thanks man 🙏🏼
try thunder trcks, they'll make your wheelbase wider
I used to ride Thunder for years but I might have to get another pair soon 🤔
Happy birthday dude.. Shout out from Miri, Borneo Island
Thanks so much dude, you're a legend 🙌🏼
Powell Peralta just put out some 90's reissues that are egg shaped and have longer wheelbases or the guy that owns my local shop makes the Chems wheelbase mods.
Yeah dude, I’ve been looking into one of those wheel base mod kits so that could be something cool to try out!
glad i watched! was going to get one but now hesitant.
Do you prefer a longer wheel base as well!
Try some Thunder trucks on the 9.75". It will push the wheelbase out and make it feel a little more stable.
I used to ride Thunders for years but since I started skating Indy's and Slappy trucks I'm not sure if I can go back to the Thunders that don't turn as well. Although that would definitely create a slightly wider wheel base and give me more stability like you said 🤔
@@LeonPaxton I'm on the thunder 161 hollows on a heroin board with a 14.25 WB and it feels stable. I am a size 12 US shoe and 180cm tall.
Black label has a 9.5 egg that’s 32.5 long with a 14.5 wb
Damn that sounds very similar to the Razor egg 🤔
Do you know if they have any with 15" wheelbase at all?
Problem is if you stretch an egg too much it turns into a Popsicle
I think that's exactly why Fos likes to make them short, which makes sense.
@@LeonPaxton but if you squish an egg it turns into a pancake or a pumpkin
Shapes Skateboard Co, does up to a 9.25 egg board with 15 inch wheelbase!
Oh sick, thanks man! I’ll check them out 👌🏽
they do make the board you'd want, the problem is you'd have to get it custom from a custom board maker, or diy.
May have to go to a shaped board. So Cal skates has pretty nice blanks in different sized.
Oh dude, they are just so fun!
happy birthday, i must've missed it on first go around but saw in the comments. i turned 41 on 12/6
Thanks dude! 🙏🏽 oh sick, happy birthday to you as well man 🥳
I know you love your aces, but have you considered trying ventures with forged baseplates? Their geometry makes for a substantially wider real wheelbase. Look at Ben Degros videos on more info...
I actually haven't skated Venture's since i was a teen so I'd definitely be keen to try some out soon!
I'll keep this one in mind 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton venture only goes up to 8.75" axle with the 6.1 though. you could look at that with the krooked team klassic that comes with a 14.5" wheelbase and 9.1" width if that is not to slim for you by now
@@LeonPaxton also there is the new antihero gerwer grimple asphalt animals 10.0 twin nose egg with 33.37" length and 14.66" wheelbase. you could combine that with thunder 181s whose true wheelbase will be between ventures and aces...
I actually can't wait to get that board! I'm just waiting for it to come to Australia already 😫
Hell yeah I'll suss those for sure, thanks man!
Get that re-drilling tool and move your trucks 3/8" each either way. It'll shorten the nose & tail but they're over 7" on the Heroins anyway. 14.25+0.375+0.375=15 🤙
Hell yeah dude, that’s becoming a good option at the moment lol
So Brand-X/Toxic skateboards has a 9in. What they call their eggy-pop shape and it has a 15in wheelbase. I'm 48 years old and been skating for about 37 years and I've skated about every deck imaginable and I set it up with some 159 Indy titaniums, some Bronson raws, and Bones X-Formula 99's and I gotta say probably the best setup I've ever had. The board needed no break in time, no getting used to. It was like I've been riding the deck my Whole life! Absolutely Amazing!! So that would be my recommendation. 🛹🤘
Damn that board does sound good! Thanks dude, I’ll have to check that out for sure
No problem bro! Always down to try to help out a fellow shredder!!🛹🛹🤘🤘
They made your board!!! The long egg should have your name on it!!!
I know, can’t wait to get my hands on one!!!
its not a egg, its football shape more. but I think this might be your dream board. minus it being 9.01 Width
Powell Peralta Mike McGill Skull & Snake FLIGHT

Deck Tail 6.75"
SKU DCPAFLTMMSS0521821

It’s definitely a football shape, it’s just referred to as an egg now from Heroin’s naming and marketing I guess 🤷🏽♂️
I actually tried one of the flight boards before and it just felt odd to me. Almost too light and too flexible 🤔
Same here! love eggs... but I'm 1.9m height (6.2'').... love my other 15wb boards. More stable
Yeah dude, sounds like we have the same problem! 😅
Madeness and baker have boards exactly the same dimensions as the antihero , 9" x 33 , 15 well base
That’s sick! Hockey also has a 9” popsicle with the same dimensions 👌🏽
Just redrill the wheelbase on one truck u will just have a shorter nose or go get a custom shape make from a local shop that presses there own decks. happy birthday hope it was a good un.
I'm definitely looking into that dude, kinda keen to try it out too!
Black label has a 9.25 egg board with 14.75 wheelbase
oooh 14.75" wheelbase sounds good! Thanks man, I'll suss them out 🙏🏼
The herion long eggs board is 10 inches wide and 15 to 15.5 adjustable wheel base
I really hope I can get one!
I like 15” wb on ramps. I’m bigger than you, or heavier at least, and pretty comfortable on 14-14.25 wb. I can’t say I’ve tried a popsicle bigger than maybe 8.4” so maybe I’d like a longer board/wb. I have a cardiel grimple stix, it’s more of a football than an egg like a ‘92 shape I think it has a longer wb and 9.3” but haven’t set up yet
14.25" isn't bad for everyday skatepark type skating but I'm definitely in need of something more lengthy and stable for the more harsh street spots
THERE - DSPH Front 9.3'' - 15 inch wheelbase, looks like tapering popsicle
OPERA - Beast 9.5'' - - 15 inch wheelbase, but a bit too custom shape
FROG - Bubbly (Pat G) 9.8'' - 15 inch wheelbase, but a bit rocket shape
EVISEN - West Thanks Dad 9.5'' - 15 inch wheelbase, ut a bit rocket (black label alike) shape
-I'm personally happy with shorter wheelbases (with being 1.8 m tall)

Look into searat skateboards. They make eggs or egg like board but have long WB
Sick, thanks man. I'll check them out 🙏🏼

Yeah dude, definitely need to try one of those out. Thanks!
Death Breath in Newcastle will do a custom deck to your specs!! 👊
Thanks dude, I’ve been looking into them actually 🙏🏽
Welcome Boline 2.0 is a 9.5 egg shape but not symmetrical w/ a 33" length with 14.5" wheelbase
Thanks dude, I've got my eye on either this one or the Black label 9.5" egg which is very similar 👌🏼
Maybe check out Death Breath? I know it's not a commercial brand, but it looks like they make nice boards and in a lit of big shapes. Also, im dying to try one but I'm not in AUS sooooo if you'd do me the solid and try one out that'd pretty sweet.
Yeah dude, I've got them on the list to check out and it will be sick to support a local company 🙌🏼
I'm actually looking to use one of those wheelbase mods actually and trying that out but yeah I'm not sure how that would effect the board overall but it would still be cool to test it out!
That last one feels like the most difficult option for sure 😂
Oh man that park is bad ass
It’s actually so good!
Leon… hope you are well man. Really want to pull the trigger on a egg shape. Im 47… 95kg … 5”10.
Point me in the right direction dude.
Just wanna cruise bowls and hit quarters etc 50/50, stalls , and a few coping tricks?
Sick dude, do it for sure! What size popsicle do you usually ride?
I usually recommend people to go up1/2-1 inch from their popsicle size for an egg board. If you get the same size egg to your popsicle than it will feel smaller since it's only that wide in the middle and then the kicks taper and are smaller!
Hopefully that makes sense and help lol
@@LeonPaxton thx bud.
