I'm sorry, but the only Mufasa backstory I'll believe in are the ones Disney released in the late 90s as CHILDREN'S BOOKS!! I'm just gonna say the original movie gives the deep impression that Simba is continuing a long line of kings, among other things it sounds like this movie ignored about the intentions of the original. So. Yeah.
It’s even worse. This movie itself kinda jumps between the whole thing being important or not. Like how when they first meet Kiros he wants to kill Taka because of her blood and ignoring that it was Mufasa. Then later Kiros is chill with Taka but definitely wants to kill Mufasa. And in the final the not lions animals declare him king, which makes zero sense in the first place but especially because the whole film established that it’s a heritage thing, to the point that lions can smell it.
I probably would’ve given this film a chance if it met two conditions: 1. If it were hand-drawn animated. 2. If Mufasa and Scar were biologically related from the start.

Mufasa is a great character don't get me wrong. But this origin story feels unneeded even if it's at least giving us new material unlike the 2019 Lion King remake.
If they got their story from the actual Lion King books made after 1994, it would be much better. By the way, did this movie include a dedication to James Earl Jones, who passed away during production of this movie? After all, he was the voice of Mufasa in the 1994 original and the 2019 remake.
@@HuskyDog88Then again, those books aren’t really canon to The Lion King considering Simba and Nala having a son named Kopa instead of their more recognizable daughter Kiara and Scar having a different name and backstory for his literal scar in The Lion Guard series; although for some reason, this film uses Scar’s original name from those books Taka instead of The Lion Guard’s Askari.
In the original Lion King film, there was an early draft where Scar was a rogue lion and had no connection to Mufasa whatsoever. But the producers decided to make them biological brothers to make the story more interesting and dramatic. Have a betrayal WITHIN the family. What this movie seems to be doing is taking that scrapped idea, rehashing it as its own, and switching the roles around. Instead of the rogue lion being Scar, instead its Mufasa. And by making Mufasa the rogue lion, as they said in the trailer that he had not a single drop of nobility in his blood, you're contradicting the original film. Mufasa did not come from actual royalty. He was never supposed to be king at all, Scar (Taka) was actually going to be the rightful king and Mufasa came in and took it from him. It's even worse when you realize that Scar had every right to try to get Mufasa and Simba out of the picture in the end. You're painting Scar as the good guy. How do you that?
This was my biggest surprise of the year. I actually really enjoyed it. I pulled a lionic this weekend and had a great time and wish people would give it a chance. I understand watching it and simply not liking it but I get frustrated by the people saying they hope it fails
I agree the movie wasn’t that bad at all. The only thing that would make people hate it was the fast paced story telling. I loved the story it was such a good story just by itself.
We don’t hate it because it’s bad. We hate it because Disney has been bullying theaters to keep this movie in theaters that are not selling tickets while they are selling out Sonic 3 tickets and want to show that more. Don’t believe me? Look it up. The evidence is out the wazoo. So, yeah, I hope it does fail, because Disney is being so butthurt about it. If you like Mufasa, more power to you. But don’t go defending this movie when Disney is blatantly putting down Sonic 3 for it’s inevitable success world wide.
@@The_Spectre_Gamer I admittedly need to do more research on this issue, but what I will say is even if this is 100% true which is definitely stupid on disneys part, I feel hoping for a movies downfall overall is a very negative thing to do. Even taking Disney as a corporation out of it, it doing bad effects not just Disney, it effects the hundreds of animators and writers that work on it. For that, I hope both Mufasa and sonic do good. What I said about mufasa applies to sonic as well
Orginal animated movie : Scar slaps Sarabi across the face, causing a now grown Simba to growl as he races to comfort his mother. Mufasa Prequel: Scar has a crush on Sarabi and her rejection makes him evil
7:20 - 7:26 It wouldn't suprised me if Tiana joined the dark side where she gave up her dreams getting her restaurant and betrayed Naveen for his selfish, lazy, immature behavior. She decides to start a new chapter in her life with Dr. Facilier.
The moral of the story is...WATCH SONIC 3 IT'S A MASTERPIECE🤩 Or if you want to watch similar origin story watch Transformers One...THAT WAS ALSO A MASTERPIECE AND I NEED A SEQUEL TO THIS 🤩
I would also say Wicked as well. Although, that is more of a prequel while also a retelling from Elphaba and Glinda’s perspectives of The Wizard of Oz story. That and without spoiling it for next year’s film, Elphaba and Glinda have their relationship end on good terms.
@@DisneyGirl2004 I'm glad you enjoyed it...but Mufasa doesn't have Alien Superpower Hedgehog seeking revenge and then letting go of it thanks to other Alien Superpower Hedgehog so yeah I'm biased 😅
3:24 - 3:45 and 5:50 - 6:12 I will admit a 2d hand drawn animated prequel based on the origin story of Mufasa and Scar could have been good and a missed wasted opportunity. Plus, if Disney were interested doing a prequel origin story of Mufasa and Scar, then why didn't they do that in the first place? Disney should have make that prequel movie in the first place instead of that unnecessary prequel of the Little Mermaid?! Seriously who asks for a prequel to the Little Mermaid? This retconned how Ariel and Flounder first met from the tv show and two they never explained why King Triton banished Ursula in the first place? Did she want to destroy the humans but King Triton refuses to let her because it would lead the humans to Atlantica and exploited the mermaids? Never explained. Plus if Ariel did care about bringing back the music 🎶 to Atlantica, why did she forgot about the concert before she went off to find human artifacts? The scene where Triton and Sebastian argue for Ariel being late and missing out and ruining the concert and that scene makes Ariel looks like she doesn't even care about the music. So bringing back and unban the music 🎶 in Atlantica feels extremely pointless in the first place. Plus Ursula doesn't appeared in the prequel instead she gets replaced by purple babysitting Yzma knockoff ripoff. This makes me wish we got an animated Mufasa prequel film 🎥 than that unnecessary monotone forgettable My Little Mermaid 🧜🏼♀️ prequel and the latter doesn't exist in a alternative universe.
Yeah. I’d also expect more Little Mermaid prequel stuff that takes place in the same timeframe as the 90’s TV series along with some Lion King prequel movies focusing certain characters like Rafiki.
Can’t wait for you to review Sonic 3! I just saw it this past weekend & it’s probably my favorite movie I’ve seen this year (slightly better than Inside Out 2, surprisingly). Words can’t describe how good in turned out to be. My mind was genuinely blown away by all this.
So, this film includes a white lion that’s the main villain in a Lion King prequel and his enemy obviously being Mufasa… Do I sense Disney acknowledging the rivalry between Kimba the White Lion and The Lion King in a Lion King film? 🤔
I love how everyone had the same exact issue with Mufasa: "Timon and Pumbaa need to shut up!" But either way, I'm just excited to see your review. Let's see how partly frustrating it was for you. I gave it a 6-7/10. Not a movie to go stampeding out to see, but better than the rolling dung ball from 2019. (I said this before, but it bears repeating here.)
I’m just gonna wait until it’s on Disney+ just to get it over with, just watch Sonic the Hedgehog 3 instead. It’s a much better movie and an awesome adaption of Sonic Adventures 2!
If there is someone worthy to punch at the Oscars besides Chris Rock, it is the guy who said Moonlight was Best Picture over La La Land. I wish I could be in Will Smith's shoes and go back to 2016 to punch him because La La Land was the much better film.
19:02 - 9:10 How the heck Lin Manuel Miranda didn't return to write songs 🎵 for Moana 2 instead he joined Mufasa the Lion King? Did Disney pay him a great paycheck to work on the music 🎶 and songs for Mufasa film?
Moana 2 was supposed to be a TV series, but the CEO said: "It was so beautiful it has to be on te big screen." Which is CEO speak for: "WE'RE OUT OF MONEY! MAKE THIS A MOVIE OR SOMETHING!!"

Disney needs to take notes from other studios like Paramount for Sonic 3 and Transformers One. Unfortunately, Disney is gonna not listen to anyone but themselves by making more garbage remakes for their blind Adult Disney fans.
I swear they are making movies for these “Disney adults” rather than kids. We did not need this movie, the 2019 one was fine-ish but no way am I looking at this one.
At least you technically considered it the best of the follow ups to the Disney live action remakes to the point where you found it better then Alice Through the Looking Glass and Maleficent 2, even though it may not be saying much to you
“Second-unit filming began in late July 2023 for animated characters only without physical actors (due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike) in Farnham, Surrey, England.” You sure about that?
The more moving faces on the characters to show more emotions are so much more disturbing than before. Bring back the emotionless looks, or better yet, STOP MAKING LIVE ACTION CRAP, DISNEY!!
A weak voice acting performance is obviously not comparable to what her father might have done in real life nor should we blame this literal child for the sins of her father
♥️💖 6:35 - 6:40 Yeah, I have noticed the similarities and 2024 is a big year for prequel retelling origin stories for many beloved franchises like Transformers, Wicked and the Lion King. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖♥️
If you want a true Disney remake, afford and play Epic Mickey Rebrushed. Do the same thing when the Snow White remake comes out. One thing about those Disney live action remakes. They were nothing more but lightning rods of unnecessarily massive profits and negativity.
Hopefully Snow White will be the start of the end of the remake train when that film inevitably becomes a flop(and will have the cancellation of the recently announced Tangled remake that hasn't started filming yet, as well as several unannounced projects related to the remakes, and the final bunch will be the Lilo & Stitch and Moana remakes), Mufasa gets a pass at the box office(I'm happy Sonic 3 is kicking its butt at the box office), but SW will not
The little mermaid was good tho, and so was Mufusa. And people are excited for Lilo and Stirch and judging from the comments of someone directing it it’s gonna be the one to destroy the remake curse for good and show that Disney does care about putting quality into their remakes and that they want to introduce their classics to a new age. you guys are ignoring the fact TLK fans are praising this rn are u?
@@DisneyGirl2004TBF, the live-action Lilo and Stitch is directed by the same guy who gave us Marcel the Shell, so having a director with a background in making animated movies for a live-action adaptation can work, and if you want another example, Travis Knight directed Kubo and The Two Strings and Bumblebee
I didn't think the movie was "bad", my biggest critiques are: 1) Timmon and Pumba took up too much screen time that could have been used for character development or time needed for emotional impact in other sequences. The two of them breaking the fourth wall and talking about the Broadway Musical was out of place and took me out of the film. 2) Pacing: I liked a lot of the things Disney did, but some moments that needed additional time for impact were cut short, and there were moments that should have been elaborated on (Such as the ending sequence with Kiara - whom I would have liked to hear more from since the story was being told to her and not Timmon and Pumba. 3) The "My Brother" song I really loved, but it should have been a nighttime sequence, the lyrics "Hey did your mama say you could be up this late" make no sense in a daytime sequence. 4) I understand why Scar pulling Mufasa up a ledge would be a dominant theme, but you can tell there are moments where they wanted to allude to the future in a menacing way when it wasn't the right time for it. I thought the sequence at the end of the film was the perfect time as opposed to the 2-3 other times it happens. Ironically... I can justify Kyros' singing Bye-Bye in my own mind by imagining that his lack of respect for the lives of other prides has driven him to the point where he thinks eliminating them is so effortless or insignificant that it's a joke. IE: Mocking those he plans to kill rather than being serious.
10:39- 11:02 That song 🎵 Bye Bye is so bad 👎🏻 it makes King 🤴🏻 Magnifico's song 🎵 This is the Thanks I Get from Wish 🌟 sound and look good and masterpiece in comparison. Hot 🔥 take - I enjoyed This is the Thanks I get and it is quite catchy.
:…inhales… exhale….: So what changes I make to the story. 1. Scar’s motivation. He see’s that Mufasa wind Sarabie. Ok he bummed but he gets over it and start to be supportive. But! While traveling Kiros is very close following them and cons the idea to drive a wedge between Mufasa and Taka. By following very close and watching their moves. And whe he reaches melee he comes out and claims that Taka lead the way. Creating a moment where Taka is gaslit by Mufasa and Sarabi for betraying them. And Mufasa is disgusted by his brother. Taka pleads for Sarabi to listen to him but she refuses plus is a little creep out by him when he was trying to impress her.( and kind thinks he lied about saving her when Mufasa lied about it to give Taka a chance with Sarabi) After Kiros is beaten and Mufasa seeing that Taka was telling the truth Taka lashed out at Mufasa talking about how he was willing to belive Kiros over him , to remember this day Taka takes on the name of Scar . To symbolise that there brotherly bond will never be the same. And Mufasa can’t banish Scar, he never wants to make that mistake again of doubting his brother. ….. Er something like that.
Kiros was a different kind of lion king villain. Scar: wanted to become king, succeeded in killing mufasa and became king & manipulated Simba into thinking it was his fault. Had a legion of hyenas who he betrayed and got killed by them. Scar was calculating, manipulative & cunning Zira: the psychotic deranged leader of the Outsiders wanted to kill Simba & his pride to raise up Kovu to be king. Kiros wanted to kill every other lion pride
Since the prequel has been gathering mixed reviews, then it's a clear sign I have no rush to see it in cinemas and will wait for that Disney+ release. In addition, what's the point of having a Lion King prequel when the Prince of Egypt, Transformers One, and even the Lion King One and a Half managed to do a better job at telling a proper origin story or telling the same narrative but with a comedic twist? At this point, I don't see Mufasa becoming another box office hit for the Disney live-action remakes. It's most likely to lose money, and Sonic 3 will come out as the true champion.
Wen I watched this film a few days ago I expected not to like it. But surprisingly I really enjoyed it. Sure it was rushed and the cut aways were pointless I do think it’s a decent film. I think any original story is far superior to any remake

Just like the 2019 movie, I can see why people would hate it, but I still love it. I’m just thankful there’s no follow up to God Awful Mulan.
If that were to ever happen, something tells me it’ll be even worse than Mulan 2. And we all know how THAT turned out
Honey, never underestimate stupid
@@davidanthonymercado7064 And the 2020 movie already makes Mulan 2 look like Shrek 2 comparison
everyone else loved Mufusa what do you mean,
Mufasa is a great character don't get me wrong.
@@hunterolaughlin Have you watched the movie? Was there a dedication to James Earl Jones at the beginning or the end?
@@HuskyDog88 No, and I’m not really that interested in watching this anyways no matter how much this improved from the 2019 film.
No
In the original Lion King film, there was an early draft where Scar was a rogue lion and had no connection to Mufasa whatsoever.
Don't worry, the live action one is a different take, not canon to the real franchise anyways.
It's something when a disney junior show to have a better backstory for Scar than the movie did
10:06 - 10:56 Sebastian: "KIMBA'S CRAZY BROTHER!!!!!" 🦀 😱
Kiros is basically the evil version of Kimba the White ⚪️ Lion 🦁.

Ha good one
That “NOOOOO” is un-ironically better than what was in the movie 3:04
(Sees the thumbnail)
Ooh, this ought to be good.
Honestly when they showed Kion at the end I honestly wanted to scream knowing that Kion is canon.
I see Kion as an official AU
Did they ever actually say his name tho?
This was my biggest surprise of the year. I actually really enjoyed it. I pulled a lionic this weekend and had a great time and wish people would give it a chance. I understand watching it and simply not liking it but I get frustrated by the people saying they hope it fails
FORGET THOSE HATERS! I AM WATCHING THIS MOVIE TO PAY MY FINAL RESPECTS TO JAMES EARL JONES!
@@racheljackson4428 this movie is like shitting into his grave
Mufasa prequel: Scar also becomes evil after Mufasa takes his rightful spot as the next king.
12:46 this will be my new favorite meme
Yep the live action remakes are becoming like the direct to video sequels
Those were at least entertaining. Some were genuinely good, others were so BAD they were good, but this is just... depressing.
I say the remakes are getting worse and worse
7:20 - 7:26 It wouldn't suprised me if Tiana joined the dark side where she gave up her dreams getting her restaurant and betrayed Naveen for his selfish, lazy, immature behavior. She decides to start a new chapter in her life with Dr. Facilier.
Listening to Timon and Pumbaa here is like listening to Jar Jar Binks.
The moral of the story is...WATCH SONIC 3 IT'S A MASTERPIECE🤩
Or if you want to watch similar origin story watch Transformers One...THAT WAS ALSO A MASTERPIECE AND I NEED A SEQUEL TO THIS 🤩
I would also say Wicked as well. Although, that is more of a prequel while also a retelling from Elphaba and Glinda’s perspectives of The Wizard of Oz story. That and without spoiling it for next year’s film, Elphaba and Glinda have their relationship end on good terms.
Dude Mufusa wa sgood

So, this film includes a white lion that’s the main villain in a Lion King prequel and his enemy obviously being Mufasa…
Do I sense Disney acknowledging the rivalry between Kimba the White Lion and The Lion King in a Lion King film? 🤔
Once again, ElectricDragon505 comes to save the day with his brilliant reviews!
I love how everyone had the same exact issue with Mufasa: "Timon and Pumbaa need to shut up!"
But either way, I'm just excited to see your review. Let's see how partly frustrating it was for you.
I gave it a 6-7/10. Not a movie to go stampeding out to see, but better than the rolling dung ball from 2019. (I said this before, but it bears repeating here.)
Hey look the movie that might easily get overshadowed by a certain hedgehog movie at the box office.
Long live the king I guess?
I’m just gonna wait until it’s on Disney+ just to get it over with, just watch Sonic the Hedgehog 3 instead. It’s a much better movie and an awesome adaption of Sonic Adventures 2!
Dude, your rage is hilarious.😂😉
13:26 that's exactly what me and my homie were thinking in the theater. 😂 "Is he British?"
The "Sarabi was a princess" thing is so weird, cause aren't all lion children princes and princesses, considering only the king has the right to mate?
If there is someone worthy to punch at the Oscars besides Chris Rock, it is the guy who said Moonlight was Best Picture over La La Land. I wish I could be in Will Smith's shoes and go back to 2016 to punch him because La La Land was the much better film.
19:02 - 9:10 How the heck Lin Manuel Miranda didn't return to write songs 🎵 for Moana 2 instead he joined Mufasa the Lion King?
Did Disney pay him a great paycheck to work on the music 🎶 and songs for Mufasa film?
Yes
Moana 2 was supposed to be a TV series, but the CEO said: "It was so beautiful it has to be on te big screen."
Which is CEO speak for: "WE'RE OUT OF MONEY! MAKE THIS A MOVIE OR SOMETHING!!"
I was only here for james earl jones
If you thought Bye Bye was terrible cringe villain song, I also find awful cringey villain "Danger Danger" song 🎵 from My Little Pony A New Generation that terrible and cringe to listen to!
At least you technically considered it the best of the follow ups to the Disney live action remakes to the point where you found it better then Alice Through the Looking Glass and Maleficent 2, even though it may not be saying much to you
Disney didn’t Live and Learn and they simply weren’t Hanging on the Edge of Tomorrow
14:39 you can tell unlike Sonic 3 this movie had no problems during the actors strike last year.
“Second-unit filming began in late July 2023 for animated characters only without physical actors (due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike) in Farnham, Surrey, England.”
You sure about that?
The more moving faces on the characters to show more emotions are so much more disturbing than before. Bring back the emotionless looks, or better yet, STOP MAKING LIVE ACTION CRAP, DISNEY!!
This movie would've been better if it was in full-on animation. Honestly just go see Sonic 3: more enjoyable and a better film overall.
It is. Did you watch the entire review?
Just watch Sonic people. Mufasa looked like shit from the start and I keep forgetting it exists until someone just so happens to mention it.
12:57 - 13:18 If you thought Blue Ivy Carter was bad, OH BOY take a look on what her daddy did something extremely evil and dirty in the past.
A weak voice acting performance is obviously not comparable to what her father might have done in real life nor should we blame this literal child for the sins of her father
Why are comparing a literal child who just voice acted a lion to the atrocities of a grown man?

Well sonic is #1 in USA but mufasa is #1 GLOBALLY so he will get more at global box office than sonic will
Nobody cares about Mufasa
Source?
Yet, no one will remember anything from this garbage while more people will be talking about Sonic 3 for much longer
0:53 that is the perfect emotion I can give when Disney says: perfect live action remakes.
I forgot about that one coming out.
Lesson of the day: Watch Transformers one, everyone! It deserves better.
To James Earl Jones...we shall see you again in the Force, my King
10:39- 11:02 That song 🎵 Bye Bye is so bad 👎🏻 it makes King 🤴🏻 Magnifico's song 🎵 This is the Thanks I Get from Wish 🌟 sound and look good and masterpiece in comparison.

I never knew they remade The Lion and the King. "I think we should be friends." "No, I think we should be enemies."
16:28 *Phelous’ HEEEEEE😂😂😂😂*
:…inhales… exhale….:
So what changes I make to the story.
Taka pleads for Sarabi to listen to him but she refuses plus is a little creep out by him when he was trying to impress her.( and kind thinks he lied about saving her when Mufasa lied about it to give Taka a chance with Sarabi)
After Kiros is beaten and Mufasa seeing that Taka was telling the truth Taka lashed out at Mufasa talking about how he was willing to belive Kiros over him , to remember this day Taka takes on the name of Scar . To symbolise that there brotherly bond will never be the same.
And Mufasa can’t banish Scar, he never wants to make that mistake again of doubting his brother.
…..
Er something like that.
I can understand why you made that thumbnail because Timon and Pumba were annoying AF in this movie and it wasn't even funny.
Agreed! And I’m honestly happy that I stick with The Lion King 1 1/2. They’re honestly more hilarious and entertaining than in Mufasa.
@Toontastic_Juju Also I liked them in Lion King 2 Simba's Pride.
@DanielKariuki-er5gi I was fine with them interrupting the story once but after the second time it just became annoying.
This had more bucks than TF One, with the same damn story
Let it sink i-
Most of the DTV Disney Sequels were probably better than most of the Live Action Disney Remakes.
THAT'S RIGHT, I WENT THERE!!
I’ll join you, too! 😂
In my opinion, the Mufasa movie could have been a lot better if it had been a 2D cartoon version. Just like they always did in the old days.
Kiros was a different kind of lion king villain.
Scar: wanted to become king, succeeded in killing mufasa and became king & manipulated Simba into thinking it was his fault. Had a legion of hyenas who he betrayed and got killed by them. Scar was calculating, manipulative & cunning
Zira: the psychotic deranged leader of the Outsiders wanted to kill Simba & his pride to raise up Kovu to be king.
Kiros wanted to kill every other lion pride
This should’ve been a 2/10 at most
Thank god I didn’t go see this movie I rather watch the original animated film of the Lion King
