I always liked Ro, missed her and wished I would of seen more of her. To bad couldn't of had more story for her. Michelle was great though. Peace and long life!
I was pissed off when they killed her off in Picard.
@@darkstatehk Stop god damn giving HUGE spoilers. Thanks dummy.
@@darkstatehk they did it for her really. She didn't want to be stuck in TV.
Michelle Forbes' best episode as Ro Laren on Star Trek: The Next Generation, was in season seven's "Preemptive Strike." Forbes' character had to cry twice within a few minutes, first when recounting how, as a child, she witnessed her father being tortured to death, then moments later having to cope with the death of Macias, the elder Maquis who had quickly become a father figure to Ro. The entire episode pivoted around Ro's struggle between her loyalties to the Federation and Bajor. Forbes pulled off the challenge, making "Preemptive Strike" one of the top episodes of TNG's final season.

It's so hard to believe that this was 33 years ago! I feel so old!
I know, boggles the mind
You feel old? I was the one who did the interview. I am old! LOL
@@graysgreenroom Man that must have been so cool to actually sit down with her. She seems like such a magnetic person to be around.
@user-bi3di3rk4l he enjoyed a good flirt with her 😉
@@user-bi3di3rk4lYes she was rather magnetic as you say. It was an easy going interview on and off camera. At the time, she was 29 and I was 36. Man, a long time ago. LOL
I have always enjoyed her acting and its to bad they didn't keep her on TNG. I have seen her in some other acting parts and she has always been a top notch actor.
If you haven’t already, check her out in battlestar galactica as admiral cain. She’s soooo good.
Well, she only left in "Preemptive Strike" which was the second to last episode ever. You could argue it's pity we didn't see more of her.
The part of the Bajoran liaison on DS9 was created for Ro Laren but Michelle Forbes turned it down. So we got Major Kira instead.
she was really really good in Battlestar Galactica as a vilian, one of the only women on screen to actually creep me out
When any actor can move you emotionally, he/she has done a great job. Michelle is that good.
You’re bang on there. Exactly my thoughts. Now things why we must convince Gray to watch BSG and also BSG Razor movie that features her a lot!
So much good stuff on TV, I will have to make the time to watch BSG (version 2). 😊
@@graysgreenroom yea i have to say I actually like BSG more than babylon 5 at this point.
Another one of the great recurring characters that we should've gotten more of. Would've been nice to see her pop in DS9.
Funny to think she and Dennehy returned 30 years later
Excellent lighting.
😆
She's hot. I like her Battlestar Galactica as Admiral Cain even more than her role in Star Trek. I liked seeing her return in Star Trek Picard as an Admiral. Pretty cool.
Didn’t she turn down the role of Major Kira on Deep Space Nine after this?
I think she did but no one could replace Nana
@@thetrekway Oh Nana is divine. I’m just always curious about actor careers and choices.
She was not offered the role of Kira but as Ro in DS9. When she turned down the job, the role of Kira was created and Nana got the job.
No, the role was envisioned as using Ro but they changed it before they started doing casting. It's similar to what they did with the Locarno/Tom Paris thing, except they got a different actress to play the new role.
She would have been great on DS9 too. Wish both she and Kira were on it.
first time i see her as a human :)
👐🏾♀️👐🏾Happy Women's History Month👐🏾♀️👐🏾
❤
I love Kalifornia. It's quite interesting at the end she's playing it vague but by that point she must have turned down DS9 or be concerned that the TNG producers are gonna take a huff with her. She only did two more TNG episodes, one in season 6 and one in season 7, both on Play or Pay contracts according to Jeri Taylor.
Remind me again why she signed up for the part in the first place? Even in '91 the stigma of being a Star Trek player would've been evident so if it bothered her that much, it shouldn't have been a surprise and she would've turned down the role in the first place.
@@Theomitethe way I look at it from the time I interviewed her then to now is she was never overly concerned about getting typecast if she took the Trek role permanently. Her main reason for NOT becoming an ongoing regular was because she wanted to do a variety of stuff with her career and felt that accepting the role as a regular cast member gave her no time to do other things. Clearly in her case, she made the right decision as she has had a great career playing different roles. Her accepting a return to her character in ST Picard, in my opinion, must have been something she felt was very interesting and she found the time to do it. Glad she did because she was brilliant!
@@graysgreenroom I dunno. Turning down a regular role as Ro would've meant an entire decade of work (she WOULD have been involved in DS9 as a major Bajoran role), plus an unlimited amount of convention & merch money. I honestly don't recall her having much of a carer outside of the 90s. I just keep thinking about how "working actor" situation puts the "mortgage question" at the forefront of most decisions.
I don’t fault your logic, however in many ways it worked out well as we got Nana Visitor as Kira in DS9 and she was excellent. Kira was originally meant for Forbes. As far as Michelle’s career, check this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Forbes
@@graysgreenroom Oh yes indeed, I'm just saying there could have been room for Forbes AND Visitor. Why "kill off" Ro when you can have more Bajorans?
A lot of stops and starts in Forbes' career. Bursts of regular appearances and 3rd-tier characters. I think BSG was her biggest "name" appearance since TNG. You're right, lots of work, but very intermittent; she does a lot of island-hopping as it were which has got to be exhausting and frustrating for an actor looking for consistent work.
She looks much better without the ridges :)
How dare you betray me, Judith. Why I ought to give you a jolt with the gravity gun, which is indeed a toy to me.
6:09 cut out the most significant part. wth?
This interview gives me serious Casting Couch vibes lol, if you know what I mean...
I do 😉
For some reason her mannerisms remind me a bit of Jon Cozart, lol.
Thank GOD she turned down D.S.9
Sonny Solita... scandalous twin sister character from The Guiding Light. Maryann the Manad from True Blood. Barbara Crampton was on the Guiding Light as well. T&A shameless Hollywood.
