- Julian Lage Trio
This concert was live on July 13th, 2018.
The sound of the recent album Modern Lore by Julian Lage was inspired by the time when country, jazz and rock ’n’ roll were in their ‘wild-west period’, when people were dancing and singing to it, according to the American guitarist who took up the timeless Fender Telecaster for the recordings. Still, the music sounds contemporary, thanks to the unadorned sound and the catchy double bass and drum grooves. At the BIMHUIS, Julian Lage will perform with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Eric Doob. Last June, Julian Lage was elected ‘Rising Star Jazz Artist’ in the famous Downbeat Critics Poll 2018.
‘A virtuosic swirl of twangy textures and gritty grooves that cry Americana with a postmodern twist’ (Downbeat).
Julian Lage: guitar,
Jorge Roeder: bass,
Eric Doob: drums

Thank you, Jon!!!!! Helped me find the name of a song really easily. :)
On my website, you will find transcriptions of all these songs :)
There aren't enough superlatives. wonderful music
So much fire. Hot diggity dawg - Julian and the band kicking butt again! Julian, wow, you've played some of the most beautiful things I've heard on the guitar. Thank you for making so much good music.
OK
Favorite guitarist
Genius
This trio is unbelievable!
Absolutely astonishing
He's good,but he's young Experience goes a long way.Cant wait to here what's next!
Truly superb concert!
I was there!
Love that guy.
Ik zat op de eerste rij, man!
@@rinibos1535 helemaal te gek . heb je filmpje gezien dat hij samen met martin taylor some day my prince will come speelt/? DAT INTRO IS NIET TE GELOVEN . . groet.
@@dolfkellens5701 ik ga eens kijken. Bedankt!
GRAN ABRAZO JORGE
what's the music in the background during the intro?
That is double bass & piano player Ernst Glerum live at bimhuis
Fantasti! Thank you for uploading!
But I do not understand that neither the commentator of Bimhuis Radio nor the announcer on stage can pronounce Julian's surname correctly. This really could be expected from people dealing with music.
Tops
The announcer up front mispronouced Julian's surname: it is not Laige but Lage, a Portuguese name.
Also the guy of Bimhuis Radio got it wrong. As you said it is pronounced lɑːʒ/ LAHZH
Frank Zappa would have enjoyed hearing Juliens playing I feel
Anyone know the song at 1:11:00
yes , you can find the original acoustic version whit Crhis Eldridge. the title is "Butter and Egg-For Critter"
@@matteostefanelli92 It's just "For Critter". The song "Butter and Eggs" is a separate song, although they are often played together in a medley :)
Not cool how the presenters pronounce his name this way or the other but never right. First time I've heard someone say JL "played in the band of Chris Thile". There neither has ever been "a band of Chris Thile" (Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers are band projects consisting of many people) nor has JL ever done a band project with CT, as far as I know. I thought Radio people are meticulous and love their shit?
Julian has been the guitarist in the house band for Thile's radio show "Live From Here" several times, filling in for his collaborator Chris Eldridge, who's also a Punch Brother.
julian lage is very good but i hate the trio ! i mean drum , bass and guitar ! it doesnt sound , the cymbals freeze the sound ! im french i cannot explain ! lol sorry ! when he palys alone ok but with a trio ! no !
