    1. Any small engines setting for long time will have condensation in the gas. A 5 second spray of starting fluid into the gas tank will usually fire right up. It always works for me.
    2. Never shut off an engine that will be setting for awhile with the ignition switch. Always shut off the fuel valve and let the engine stop from fuel starvation. That will empty the carburetor keeping it clean.

    Your snowmobile may have a crankcase operated vacuum fuel pump . The diaphragm may have dried out and rotted a hole in it . Lawn mower shops may have this fuel pump . Wrap a rag around an air blow gun and place a short burst of air into the gasoline tank while pull starting . Always have a fire extinguisher within arm’s reach .

    I love Cooper's facial expression, reminds me of one of our dogs. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas Taylor. Sled seems to be needing fuel hope the carb is not plugged on you. Sometimes I just replace the carb especially if it has plugged before, I do not always use ethanol free fuel, for a while it seemed everything had at least 10%. Stay safe and healthy Tay.

    Test for snowmobile: Fill tank FULL and see if it miraculously fixes itself. If that is the case, the pick up hose in the tank has failed and needs to be replaced. that is normally about half way up the front of the tank. Take a light and look into the tank and see if you see the port. Again - full full tank will run if it is gone. Edit: BTW I am from Wisconsin and have had a couple dozen sleds....

    A combustion engine needs 3 things to run. Air, fuel and spark. You proved you have air and spark already so your issue is fuel or more precisely fuel delivery. Either the tank is too low on the fuel level or there is a clogged jet in the carb or you have float, needle or needle seat issues.

    Hi Tay, Mark from UK again. Never run a tank past 1/4 full. It'll just suck up last years muck and spoil your fun. If it's a two stroke,,,, then in the winter vast amounts of TLC are usually required . Even so if it's a 4 stroke a little of that dubious smelling stuff in an aerosol to get diesels going might help. Nonetheless it's all part of winter fun🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Take care you guys. Have fun😊👍👍👍

    Too bad I'm not a nearby neighbor. Some of those little cantankerous items that are a show stopper for you and Brent I could help out with. Would be fun. Barn wiring, sled troubles. That sled - don't sell yourself short. You do such a good job with so many things you tackle and you're soooo close to having your sled running, just a little looking over your shoulder while you take it apart is all you need to be able to tackle the carb yourself. Besides, I think this is going to be a good year for snow in Maine. I like your sweatshirts too. I agree, they look like nice ones. BTW - I did notice the little glint of light coming from your earrings. Made you look cute! Happy New Year! Stay warm.

    Hi Taylor! Great video - so sorry you didn't get out sledding on such a beautiful day. The machine is almost ready to run well - I would first try putting more gas into the tank - that should help get fuel to the carbs. Also, if you have a fuel pump on that machine - it may be dry or bummed out??? Defiantly a fuel problem I think! Have a nice week! 😀

    3 simple things to check on any small engine if it won't start:
    ● Fuel
    ● Spark
    ● Air
    Check the fuel is getting to the Carby. Sometimes the little orofaces get gummed up.
    Check for Spark
    Clean the Air filter.
    Just saying. Lol🤠

    Hi Taylor, one thing I do when the snowmobile gas lines are dry is pressurize the tank and get gas flowing through the lines, if it ever snows around here I’m sure I will be going through the same thing trying to get the sleds running, if you do pressurize the tank disconnect the fule line on the other side of the filter

    • @tayfarms
      @tayfarms  2 дня назад

      That’s a great tip, thanks for sharing!

  • @55metalmonkey
    @55metalmonkey 2 дня назад

    Hey Taylor, Your sled 100% has a fuel delivery issue... more than likely a combination of old gas and your carb float needle valve gummed up. Needs to be pulled, freed up and run some fresh gas through it. also run it near dry at the end of season, mix in some sea foam stabilizer in it and run it again till it starts to smoke. Should be problem free for next season

  • @Crews-sd1xc
    @Crews-sd1xc 2 дня назад

    Drain the old gas out then take the gas line loose see if gas is flowing good.❤ make sure the gas filter isn’t clogged ❤

  • @martythelen9146
    @martythelen9146 11 часов назад

    I’m assuming that gas in Maine has ethanol in it like Michigan does, so you should always drain all of the gas out at the end of the season because the gas goes bad and the ethanol eats the rubber parts.

  • @Diesal3
    @Diesal3 2 дня назад +5

    I think you have a case of bad gas. If you don’t put some gas stabilizer in the tank at the end of each season and make sure you run it long enough to get that stabilizer to work its way into the carburetor to keep it form gumming up.

    Good morning sunshine, nothing like the good old snowmobiles, especially Polaris that’s all I’ve ever ridden. They’re definitely fun once they get running lol I’ve had the cowl cord break off at a windstorm on a brand, new sled and smashed the windshield and dash it wasn’t any fun that one rusty cord probably last forever lol One little trick it’s kind of a pain in the butt is to pull the breather box off once you get the fire spray a little carb cleaner or ether just a little bit in each carb until it starts picking up the gas from the gas tank you don’t have to use a lot just a little squirt just to keep it running till it starts picking up gas. We don’t get as much snow here as we used to so most of us gave up on snowmobiling we keep them around just in case, but we do more riding ATVs around the all our farms right here. That little bull is getting big quick. There is always something to fix or update on these older dairy barns. Been there done that many times lol but I’m glad you got that electrical fixed that could be very dangerous. Cooper is adorable. That’s so funny. I hope you stay warm and safe up there.🤗

    Your fuel pickup is dependent upon a hose attached to a brass fitting located midway of the tank. The internal hose rot's and falls into the tank, you maybe able to see it with a flashlight looking into the tank. Remove the air box follow the fuel line to the brass nipple, it will unscrew, if there is no hose attached to the brass nipple there is your problem. If you fill the tank to over half full it should allow the fuel to be pumped to the carbs and it should run until fuel level drops below the brass nipple. Best wishes!

    Some kind of fuel delivery issue. You have ignition, so that's working, if it were an air issue it wouldn't have run at all despite priming it. I read several of the comments and everything was solid advice. One about a vacuum driven fuel pump made a lot of sense. Could be trash in the tank or even on the back side of that fuel filter you blew back through. You'll figure it out.

    Completely remove and drain the fuel tank, rinse it out with a little fresh fuel to make sure no sediment will obstruct. Reinstall with new filter and fill with non-ethanol gas. Remove water bleeder on carb bowl and air filter. spray carb cleaner through the throttle body and let it rinse through carb and put back together. Make sure hoses have no sediment in them. Then I think you will likely be good to go.

    What I always do is start my sled at least once a month during the off-season then it should start right up when you want it😊

    The Super Sport probably needs a carberator kit. Drain old gas for new and need gas storage additive. Carberator Rubber diapham gets ridgid with time and needs an OEM kit.
