The 1980’s Mets was a train wreck waiting to happen. So much talent. After taking Game 2 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium, those Mets had a chance to wrap it all up at Shea but the Mike Scioscia got that Big Yak off Dwight Gooden to tie the score in the 9th, then Kirk Gibson hit another in the 12th to give the Dodgers Game 4 at Shea.
I don't think it's bc he was high at that moment. When you do enough snow, you'll forever be figity. Even when sober from what ive seen from people I know who are in that struggle.
Dwight will always be my idol as a pitcher. They called me the White Dwight in college, mimic his delivery, his 12-6 curveball, and the heat. Loved the battles he and Fernando Valenzuela had at Shea in the 80s. Dwight just know we all wish you well and people still care and think of you.
I don’t condone drug use in anyway whatsoever. But he’s got one hell of a story.
This is so sad, it almost made me cry. I hope he stays clean because every day must be a battle.
Agreed. I remember him as a kid, Doc K was the best back then. Made me(along w/ Straw and Gary Carter, RIP) Mets' fans. STILL the best WS I ever saw.
This is how cocaine works everything he described. The high, the guilt, the drive home, the shutdown
Legend
this dude was a beast on the mound
Imagine if he stayed off the drugs, could have been one of the all time greats.
I watched the 96 no hitter on tv ~ my guy
