Devil Fruits are dreams and the ocean crushes those dreams. The other Devil Fruits weakness to the sea is a result of Imu’s oppressive control.

Example, a fruit that controls "heat" as a concept might be seen by his own user that doesn't know any better as a "fire" fruit. I have a feeling the earth god is one of black beards fruits. Imagine it like this, Marines, Revolutionary army, Grand fleet(Luffy’s crew+) and black beards crew and all the pirates on pirate island. These 4 forces are going to be the main clash in the total war. So the 4 gods fighting would make sense. The Quake Quake fruit being earth god makes a lot of sense to me.

In the manga, theres a panel of all the elders and imu in thier transformations, and we also have all of thier names now, and it looked like they all have mythical zoans, or atleast zoan, since they were all in animal like transformations, imus was a dragon like looking thing, or a serpent.
THEORY:
Dr. Vegapunk said that devil fruits are manifestations of people's desires. I think Imu's power is not a devil fruit ability, she/he is born with a power naturally. Somehow, when people desire or dreamt of that power it manifested into devil fruits, many people around the world BELIEVE that it was real and that when it emerges (this is way back to ancient civilizations) she felt threatened on the ability of the devil fruits and at some point I'd like to think that Imu is responsible for the Devil Fruit's Weakness which is the Ocean(water).
There is always this constant BELIEVE concept on One Piece in which if many people believe something it will come into reality, the same thing as Joyboy's return, the "One Piece is real" by Whitebeard, Roger's speech about his treasure that drove people into the seas, Sea kings talking about their ruler's return and the Noah, Otohime who believes that fishman and human can live in peace and harmony together, Noland's descendent believing he wasn't just a liar and strawhat proves it and many more...
I just couldn't help but to connect all of those things.

I like the theory that Chopper has forest god fruit. The support for this theory stems from story's of the forest god resembling a deer, will heal the sun god after a war.

Half of your favorite characters didn’t exist until months or years after their first appearance.
