My DM called me out as a rules lawyer when I told him a slime couldn't take a second opportunity attack in a round because it already used its reaction.

Sometimes, people wrongly accuse people, too. There's a difference between rules lawyers and knowing the rules. A rules lawyer derails things for an argument; a person who just knows the rules might point out things but doesn't ruin other people's fun for it.

Next time I DM, I am planning to make one of the players to be the combat referee. I may have it moved around.

    I've got more.
    1) Evil characters. Never had them work out. If you keep them in the party, everyone feels like their character would never allow it or would kill them. Or they end up killing a PC that the player really liked. Or it creates a situation that ends the campaign. Either that or the evil character dies (player says they don't mind, they almost always mind, and sometimes the other players don't trust their new character) or leaves. Just leaves a sour taste in everyone's mouths. I've allowed it more than a few times now (everyone says it will be different this time!) and it never works out.
    2) Some kind of action (or inaction) the PCs do that end the campaign. For example, "they never did that in the book! You're doing it all wrong!!". Dude, if you wanted a railroad campaign, just read the book again! (#1 in the video list)
    3) Some kind of puzzle or situation the players (and PCs) can't figure out, and doesn't allow the campaign to proceed. Why a homebrew GM would do that and kill dozens or hundreds hours of his work is beyond me.
    4) An unresolved problem between the players.
    5) I've had TPKs where the group just dissolved.
These are all things I experienced. I've never finished a campaign before.
