My dad was willing to buy me a car while I go to college. He was willing to buy me a car I wanted under 20k. I rejected that offer and afforded my own car for $6000
why its a free car
@@devondropemoff1757 ungrateful
@@Kohen4321why say that
wow you're a complete dumbass. Spent your own money while you could've had one for free? All so you could prove that you could buy it with your own? Retard.
Wish I had parents that would be able to do that for me. Would never pass up on a opportunity to get a free car 😱
Im not into the whole cheaper insurance thing if its his car have it in his name and he can pay the bills on it, what happens when they get into a fight and they threaten to take their car away? This sums up to my parents want to let me borrow their car...ok fine ? lol
My parents bought my first car then i realized it was with the money i inherited from my amazing uncle
Unfortunately! In this Economy it is hard for people to get jobs a lot of people in their 20s 30s even 40s need financial help im in my 20s & my mother offered to buy me a car she said it'd be in my name but! I said no that I want to pay for it on my own but I've been applying for jobs for over a year now & I constantly take the bus to places I get around ok but still I'm now unsure should I accept my mothers offer even if it's in my name the fact that my mother would be paying doesn't seem like it's really mine & then I feel like I'd be lying to myself by having it so my question is should I accept my mothers offer
Buying till you get your money and then sell it and give it all to your mom 👍👍
are you some kind of dumbass?
Smart, planned parenthood that sets the adult children up for a decent head start in life.
My brother inherited a station wagon from the neibour for $500. I got a $500 ford festiva from a friend of My moms. My sister got my dads plymouth for $500. They were all worth not much more then that amount anyway. My festiva cost $1400 to pass the safety test right off the bat, then blew a rad hose, needed tires, oil filter gasket leaked. Honestly that car was worth its weight in scrap metal. 3 months later I got rid of it due to leaking oil constantly. Never bothered getting tires for it just got rid of it before winter. My second car lasted a year and the motor head cracked. Third car lasted 1.5 years and transmission gave out, 4th car lasted 5 years before the exhaust manifold broke off. After that I bought a new car and it's currently paid in full with 28,000kms on it. The cash car strategy does work. It helps when your brother is a mechanic tho :)
rustyscrapper in the long run used cars will cost a lot unless you know a mechanic that won’t rip you off or you can fix on your own.
So what is your solution? In the long run the new car you just bought becomes a used car that "will cost a lot unless you know a mechanic..."
What else is there? Buying/leasing new cars and moving on in 3-5 years? What would DR say to essentially having continuous car payments until the end of time?

My cousin is a mechanic- I don't quite annoy him to fix everything or anything, but if the dealership says I need something and it isn't something I can confirm as being factual, I'll run it by him. If I hear/see something that I think might be concerning, I'll run it by him first.
I don't save a lot in free labor this way, but I'm good just avoiding unnecessary fixes.
Dave asking if they're multi millionaires to buy a new car? Lol
it a fair question, if the kid said my parent make 30k a year, and there going to buy me a 22 k car, dave woudl have said no you can buy your own.
a man only take a gift form someone that can afford it,
@@az21bob666 I bet Dave would have e gave him a hard no if he said they make less than 500k.
I work at a motorcycle dealer, yesterday our finance manager/owner and I were talking. She told me how a gentleman and his 23yo son came in, the kid had all the money to buy the ~14k bike he wanted out right but the dad interrupted and paid for the whole thing. The son was so speechless and the dad said, "When I'm gone I won't need this money. You're a harder worker than I ever will be."
This is not about humble bragging, it's about understanding the value and effort of working for what you want, and instead having somebody step in and take care of it for you. It can be very taxing and understandably a lot of emotions will come into play. Sometimes a parent may be terrible in other ways, and compensates with purchases. There are so many factors. It can be terribly frustrating when people are handed things, but it is not always that simple.
19 years old voice . sound like 40 years old. Deep voice. Cool.
19 is most of the time fully devloped
Because you asked Dave Ramsey, it’s ok. Carry on and get your free car man. I’m not being salty I’m just saying you don’t need to ask Dave Ramsey if it’s ok to do something. He’s not God.
It was clear that Dave meant that since the guy was concerned enough to ask, showed that he is mature enough to handle something like this.
I’m not sure if him taking a car is detrimental. It sounds simple to me
Ask you parents for a lexus.
There are a lot of question that I would ask someone else for there advice, get a different point of few,
Can someone explain how he made 15k in the summer without a car
Man I wish my parents could buy me a car. That would help me so much! He’s blessed.
I belive the kid was asking a fair question, how much should I let my parent give me, why still growing up.
NEver expected mine to even though my sblings were bought cars/homes college etc
Took out a loan at 19 for 1200 to buy my first one...been out of the house almost 2 yrs by then
Nothing wrong with helping your kid but they will never fully appreciate it.
Buying an expensive luxury/sports car for them is idiotic it just sets them up for more expectations and entitlement.
Yes and do Uber for $7 an hour.
I’m currently working on getting my own car. Also a college student here too I honestly am going to buy my own car because I want that chance to feel independent and secure especially me being 19 years old.
You don’t have to have the car in your name to insure it.
"In 2013, young people ages 15-19 represented only 7% of the U.S. population. However, they accounted for 11% ($10 billion) of the total costs of motor vehicle injuries."
For a younger driver, I'd probably opt to give them a reasonably nice used car with a high crash safety rating. Not sure that handing them a ~$22k car that they have a higher than average chance of wrecking makes a lot of sense. Get them a $5500 2010 Honda Accord and put the other $16500 in investments.
When 19 year old is 25 and "ready" to be let loose on their own insurance and such, at +10% that $16500 is $29000 plus the $2500 the Honda Accord is worth now, if the kid didn't total it, should pay for a pretty nice car.

New car is a safety issue, as parents dont want there daughters stuck on the side of the road
I'm in my 25th year of driving and on average my daily driver has been 5.4 years old and I've only been "left stranded"* for a flat tire and dead battery, neither of which new cars are really more immune from [putting a new battery in your used car just in case is a pretty small expense].
I didn't go with the DR standard of a 200k mile 80s K-car for $400, I think an 8 year old Accord is a pretty reasonable option [downgrade to a Civic and you can probably go like 2 years newer].
* And how stranded was I? Always have had AAA, so call them and they are there to take care of it within about 30 minutes.
Here
Very sage advice like always sir
Be a man, Stop sponging off your folks when you have your own money. You know it is wrong or you wouldn't have asked.
How tf did he get 15 grand at 19 though he has a rich family in the first place
@@parkerrollins774definitely trust fund or got money
@@parkerrollins774 Birthday, graduation gifts. Noone that age is making 15k in a summer. Guessing he doesnt pay them rent help with food either.
Must be nice
My Dad just launched when I suggested that I should be able to drive the family car. His advice for me, get a part time job and buy your own car. A year later, that is what I did. In cash.
