    Incredible. I was a 13 year old news watching nerd then, and there is a excellent chance I watched this live. I was kind of raised on the news. The most remarkable thing about this though is the absolutely trippy Kmart ad at 24:30. Yikes!

    This date immediately caught my eye; I was in army basic training when this came out, and nowhere near a tv. The report about Poland led to an alert in the army at that time.

    The economic picture stayed the same well into 83. I've got to disagree with Tip O'Neill though. It was the Federal Reserve that brought that on by trying to kill persistent inflation. That sounds similar to today, although it's not as bad now.
