House of the Dragon episode 3, Second of His Name, takes us ahead in time another three years in Westeros. King Viserys and his wife Alicent now have a two year old son named Aegon. Many Lords in the realm want him to be named heir, but for now Rhaenyra still holds the title. The war against the Crab Feeder and the Triarchy wages on in the Step Stones, but just as the situation appears to be hopeless, the reveal of Laenor Velaryon riding the dragon Seasmoke turns the tides in Daemon Targaryen’s favor and ends the war in the Narrow Sea. Brandon Barrick and Zach Huddleston react to this episode and discuss the bloody repositioning of Targaryen claims to the Iron Throne.

It’s all fun and games until one eyed Aemond shows up.
It was Laenor's idea for Daemon to go in as a decoy. Dragon riders rarely get sick because of the dark magic they used to tame dragons.

Dragon riders don't use magic, they may have at one point but they don't know magic. Targaryans in general are fairly resilient to the ailments that affect others though
@@JoeBoKnows they were referring to the magic used that allows them to ride dragons to begin with.
@@polivepea no one knows for sure what allowed them to ride dragons, but my point is, they don't still have magic. No one, in or out of world knows what makes them less susceptible to Illness

The only thing I wish we woulda got was a backstory or motivation of the crab feeder, just to give us a tragic look into his purpose before he died
I know! It’s such an intriguing character. No dialogue, very unique physicality. There’s gotta be more in store for Craghas Drahar. I can’t wait until 10 years from now when I’m watching the 4th or 5th ASOIAF series and just lose my mind when young Crabfeeder makes a cameo. 😂😂😂

I think Damion was stalling untill his Brother basically said ok i approve so they couldn't hold his attack against him and on end he looks like the champion of the king.
I don’t understand why the Dragons didnt seal all of the cave entrances except one blow a bunch of fire in the last entrance or exit and then seal it too.
I thought the same thing, but I wonder if Balerion was the only one who could do that? Larger older dragons have that kind of power, not sure of the smaller ones.
Exactly. Only largest of dragons can melt stone. But still, they could just flamed every cave entrance while the other soldiers lit the others up

In the books both Laenor and Rhaenyra were older, so they were still very close in age. Laenor was born in 94, Rhaenyra in 97.
They were using Seasmoke and the Bloodworm together off camera... at one point they say "send in the dragons again"... plural

I don't think Daemon ever really wanted to be king, he just wanted to be acknowledged and appreciated.
It would be great if they also make an anthology series about lores and short stories in the ASOIAF pretty much like Animatrix, Star Wars: Visions or Love, Death and Robots.

Viserys's father Baelon was technically fourth born of Jaehaerys but the second to make it to adulthood. So Aemon was the heir, Rhaenys was his heir, until Aemon died and Jaehaerys skipped over Rhaenys to make Baelon heir. Alysanne and Corlys were very unhappy about that.
I like Matt Smith but I am still looking for my Tyrion or Arya character. The one that steal the scene.

Second son's have such a bad reputation in the world of Westeros thanks to the sellsword company in Essos. We've had Stannis Baratheon, Ned Stark, Brynden Tully, Tyland Lannister, Daemon Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Bran Stark, Oberyn Martell, Sandor Clegane.. I mean, they're not all sh!t... Maegor really hurt their reputation though. Took a lot of good ones to undo that smear.

You don’t become the second of your name once you’re king. He’s second of his name because he’s Aegon the second, named after Aegon the conqueror.
Pretty sure it's the other way around.
You gain a number _once_ you become king.
As Aegon (son of Viserys and Alicent) _isn't_ the 2nd Aegon after the Conqueror.
He's like the 4th.
@@Ancor_Vantian You're correct. At this point in history, There have only been 5 Targaryen kings. Aegon I, Aenys I, Maegor I, Jaehaerys I, and Visery's I. Aegon will get the title of II once he becomes King in 129 AC.
