Just shy of a 800 score (student loans 😢) but I was able to get bumped up on all my credit limits, and get the platinum card just after guiding my credit for only a year… it’s kind of crazy. I use my platinum Amex for business travel in the states and I get to collect the annual fee on my tax’s as an expense so I actually get paid to use the Amex platinum. I also have the bilt card for rent and I use both portals to redeem points and maximize my business travels. Definitely going to pick up the gold card as well in the next year. A lot of annual fees but I still next make out Alene an extra 300 they pay me to own the card after taxes😂 you are a real one for all of your help!
Literally applied and got approved for the American Express gold card! I had been searching for the perfect travel/every day used card and this card was definitely the best! and I was looking for a credit card that had Delta as a transfer partner! Thanks so much for this video!! (:
AmEx is the best! Delta also offers four different SkyMiles AmEx cards - each with different sign up offers available, and one new card (Blue card) that has no annual fee.
Bilt is a sneaky good card if you cruise and book directly with the line. I pay the 1st of the month before the due date. 4x back on travel on Rent Day.
With a cruise usually you make a down payment then the rest is due like 3 months before the cruise. As long as you booked directly and make the payment on their site it should code as travel. It worked for me with MSC. If you make the payment on the 1st of the month, Rent Day, you get double points, so 4x.

Wow! I didn't know about being able to use a check from BILT to pay rent- I'll definitely be checking that out since my landlord only accepts checks. Comparing BILT travel category to Chase though, it is a bit limited compared to Chase's inclusion of public transportation, parking garages/meters, and travel agencies (which I think would benefit me for my broader travel spends). Any card with an annual fee seems stupid to me. Why would I pay to be able to spend money? The amount of work time you have to put into redeeming points for their maximum return would be better spent working and earning more money.
Depends on your needs. Also, you want to look at what they offer back sometimes like mentioned in this video, you’re actually only paying a few dollars because they give you so much back in the way of free money for meals and travel…
Would it be beneficial to have the Venture X card and the Bilt card? I spend around $5,000 a month on diesel as a trucker so the venture x sounds good for 2x points. Then would I be able to combine the points from paying rent with the Bilt card with the points from the venture x?
Lowkey if you are spending that much on diesel I would look at the US bank altitude connect for 4% cashback on gas (95$ AF) or wait for transfer partners and go for the wf autograph which gets 3x on gas. I just fell like you can do better than 2x if you are spending that much every month.
I travel at least 6x a year. Always use debit card. I have no clue on credit cards. I want a travel card for obvious reasons but also want cash back because would be nice to just pay my daily things with a card. What do you suggest?
Cash is usually 1point = 1 cent or less, while with points can be valued at sometimes higher amount (2< cents) with airlines/hotels. It all depends on your type of strategy.
Great point, the cash back vs point debate is a good one. I’m personally team points due to the fact that I can get more bang for the buck on redemptions. But if you aren’t traveling extensively and aren’t interested in premium travel then cash back is great
Yup, and they’ll usually waive the annual fees. It depends on what the local businesses accept, you’ll probably have better luck with Visa or Mastercard over American Express. Navy vet here.

Meh. Get it for the bonus but I don’t value Delta very highly so I wouldn’t be interested in hanging onto the card
@@johnsfinancetips Agreed, Delta miles aren't very valuable.... Better to look for Virgin Atlantic/Flying Blue program for SkyTeam alliance. There are many credit cards that transfer point to these programs
@@akashprasad5750like which ones?
the background LED flicker is killing me
Sorry!! The frequency thing is such a pain. I’ll pick darker colors next time
Can someone explain the 10x on hotel/car rental point system?
THANK YOU!!!
If I had a Travel Credit for every time he mentioned the Maldives. I’d have a lot of credit cards
Can I pay my mortgage with bilt or my common fees?
My question exactly… but I see you never got an answer… bummer
No priority pass for venture x anymore
Rent...cool...what about mortgage payment!? haha
Great Video thank you. It is true that Barclays business miles can be used only with a AA business account?
Can you please make a video for europeans, because we can't get for example a venture one
Does vinture X has purchase protection?
Yes
Just checked Hilton Aspire card sign up bonus is 150000 instead of 180000?
For the Barclays AAdvantage Card, are you able to transfer your points to a travel partner?
American airline is in the one world alliance so you can book with AA points on the other members flights
No
He doesn’t speak on points conversion. But he glamours about how many points you get when you spend on that car. Bruh…
"Change life" is that really that easy
Woah chase cards didn’t make the list
CSP could be a contender but the earn is mid and Bilt has Hyatt as a transfer partner which is really what used to make Chase standout imo
Can you use BILT for mortgage payment?
No, only rent, utilities, cell phone bills, wifi bill
Where is Citi premier card
Would it be beneficial to have the Venture X card and the Bilt card? I spend around $5,000 a month on diesel as a trucker so the venture x sounds good for 2x points. Then would I be able to combine the points from paying rent with the Bilt card with the points from the venture x?
Lowkey if you are spending that much on diesel I would look at the US bank altitude connect for 4% cashback on gas (95$ AF) or wait for transfer partners and go for the wf autograph which gets 3x on gas. I just fell like you can do better than 2x if you are spending that much every month.
If you do decide to get the venture x card , I’ll pay an additional $50 if you use my referral link
Amex business gold has 4x points on gas
@@adampeterson2846 thanks for the tip I’ll look into it, would be good since USBank is easy to use
@@dannyanderson6189 I must have missed that but that would be perfect.
Is 90k Amex points is a good sign up offer ? For gold?
it's a great offer, infact it's the highest on gold as per my experience
I travel at least 6x a year. Always use debit card. I have no clue on credit cards. I want a travel card for obvious reasons but also want cash back because would be nice to just pay my daily things with a card. What do you suggest?
Altitude Reserve
@@yurig2530 I will look It up thanks
The one he says was good for cash back
@@youtubeonly1557 which one?
Altitude reserve
This presumes your credit card points have no cash value. But most of them can be redeemed for cash as well.
Yes but a lot of them get you so much more value if you use them as points instead of redeeming them for cash
But if you aren’t traveling extensively and aren’t interested in premium travel then cash back is great
Are you a bilt partner?
Amex Platinum
What airline are you flying to rhe Philippines?
Turkish!!
Can these cards be used while we're stationed outside US as active duty military? Hope you'll answer, John! Great video!
Yup, and they’ll usually waive the annual fees. It depends on what the local businesses accept, you’ll probably have better luck with Visa or Mastercard over American Express. Navy vet here.
John, I really like to watch your videos
As Los Angeles international airport is AA big hub, should I still get American Airlines credit card?
Yes. Great one world partners for getting to Asia or even the Middle East!
Diamond status will always get you a complementary upgrade at the Hilton airport Manila or the Conrad Manila by MoA, if the soace is available.
