  • Story Time - DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!! Plain and simple. In this video, I share with you guys the serious wake up call that I received in my early 20's that scared me straight and completely removed me from drinking and especially the ugly side of drinking!!! What happened that night changed me forever. I got a 2nd chance, but sadly most people do not...and even if they do, many don't realize that they have a problem or admit to it...and then it's too late. It was a problem, I recognized it, and I put an end to it!!! Please DO NOT drink and drive you guys. Learn from your mistakes and do what you have to do to make yourself a stronger better version of yourself. Thanks to all of you for watching and continuing to support me and the channel. You guys keep me motivated and I cannot thank you enough!!!

My buddy passed out drinking with four of us in the car. We crashed hit a telephone pole and then a tree. He was in the hospital for two weeks and had multiple back surgeries. Couple hours of recklessness isn’t worth it

Dude, sometimes it takes that close call incident to happen to wake us up, and unfortunately I've been there more than once.
I had quite the drinking habit way back and I quit for about a year. I had kinda embarrassed my wife at her birthday party in the beginning of our relationship (I started seeing demons and cool stuff, but I was the only one that thought it was cool...) - so dude, I just stopped, cold turkey.
Now, I was never an angry drunk...the opposite...I just wanna give you a big hug and I love you man, and we'll solve the world's problems. But I did act inappropriate that night, and of all nights, her birthday. So I laid it down...
Fast forward bout a year after that, we were at her folks house she said 'Why don't you have a beer with my dad?' He was drinking a Singha (this is a Thai lager) and man, that was a tasty brew!
So what happened next? Well, I made some hardcore rules for myself. If I were gonna drink...
    1) From that day, I would only drink quality beer (which has turned into mostly craft beer) - no more drinking cheap beer just to get drunk
    2) I ditched the liquor. (disclaimer: I'll have a shot or two of Scotch with her dad about twice a year)
    3) I designate days I will have a couple beers (NOT every single day, or even close to that)
    4) Bottom line, no doing stupid shit. We have too much to lose and we're too old for that anyway!
I realize this may not work for everyone, and you may even see this as bad advice. And some people do need to just walk away from alcohol altogether.
But this method has worked extremely well for me.
And I think this is a feasible option for many who really just enjoy drinking, but want to be responsible about it (and more so, will choose to be responsible). You just have to really know yourself, and be honest with yourself. And be real with yourself about the reasons you drink. Is it to cover up something, or deal with some sort of pain? Or do you really just enjoy having a few now and then? Can you control it?

    • @thewewguy8t88

this is a fair thing to do. i have myself some rules too. but they are flexiable and also not set in stone but one rule i have is i never bring drinks into my house and try to avoid drinking alone. also i consider how long its been since i last drank and how many times each year i have drank i am currently up to 6 times for this year. i do admit this year and even 2020 have been easier due to covid to really cut down but still. i am glad to see you have your own method. my experience is if you want to interact with most people its a part of life to drink. you can not drink but its considered strange and odd and many people will not exactly feel comfortable with you. i personally think there needs to be a balance and it sounds like you and me have found our own balance when it comes to drinking but i feel like for most people that is a very hard thing to do.

I just saw this video. I quit drinking about 10 years ago. I ended up with 2 duis which cost me insanely. Lost a car, lost my old gear. I gave it all away just to get loaded. The funny part. All the "friends" I had kinda up and disappeared when I started getting my shit together. Funny how that works. Good stuff Kevin! I'm a new subscriber and will be for life. So relatable my new friend!

Hey dude, congratulations on your sobriety. I quit drinking Sept 2010 to get onto Anxiety meds. I'm not even on the meds anymore, I've got a great job at The Home Depot. Regarding your story, we live and learn, you learned from your "mistake" and you got a second chance. Your discussion to quit drinking was the right decision.

Ive lost many friends and aquantinces to drinking, or drugs so my convictions have kept me from drinking and drugs for more than 20 years. I get it it is not cool, not worth it, and recently just lost my little brother to drugs, and alcohol. It was fun at first but years of it decay's society and is a cancer on our nation. Live healthy and drug free is the best way to live happy in my life!

  • @marcohammerdown

In my case, when I was younger, 4 accidents while running drunk weren’t enough.
    1. I hit a roundabout, running too fast, sight blurry due to alcohol and psychological restraints compromised
    2. Same reason, fell in a ditch on a curve
    3. Same reason, crashed on a house wall on a curve
    4. Same reason, crashed on a traffic island and hit a road sign; road was also wet and I tried to curve drifting on the wet road with the handbrake.
Stupidity is something, but repeating such dangerous and expensive mistakes so many times is something else. I had just to drink, yes or yes. It’s a mix of personal issues that a certain number of guys experience and, in my region (I live in northeastern Italy), a cultural problem, where alcohol abuse is something usual and the our folks is proud about.
When you exaggerate so much and you don’t even pay attention to the danger, it’s time to seek for a valid professional help. It’s not a matter of behind alcohol addicted, it’s a matter of losing the control of your life. There’s a thin line between such two way different problems.

Let me send some chills down your spine. So i was driving just like in your story, going 260km/h. The guy in the back was supposed to be on his phone telling me when the sharp turns are coming but he was on insta. All of a sudden in the night comes a sharp turn you had to go 30/h. We were going 260. Started skidding as I slammed the breaks. We werent' drunk but we were 1cm away from flipping 50 times before ascending to the gates of heaven. As we got on that portion of bridge the car was airborn from the transition so we lost some braking time. The guy in the back no seatbelt. But at that speed seatbelts weren't saving shit. When you're at the wheel its all you, its your fault, and you can never count on anyone. Drunk or not.

The headline- ain't that the truth, I had a stint with drinking til I was 35. I got my last dwi in 2007-3 total. Now- 7 years no alcohol, serious drugs. I have a device in my car. AFTER 5 and 5 years of (paying my debt to society) was only supposed to do 5. Happy I never physically hurt anyone while driving, though I'm sure I did plenty of harm otherwise. The punishment alone isn't worth it. Screwed me out of so much for 10 years, and now still. Every time the device beeps I feel like I'm still that piece of shit. So aggrevating, then I see some guy slam an airport bottle of jack, start his jeep and drive away...
