What are the nelfs using to instantly heal their units?

The moon wells, their farm equivalent. It collects mana during night time (also if that night time is artificially created via moonstone) and it can be used to heal both health and mana of an allied unit or hero. With replenishing mana being significantly more expensive than health, but I don't know the "exchange rate" for either.

Probably because the healing and mana salve are non combat. Meaning a single hit from enemy or creeps cancels it out.
