Although the Alabama crimson tide have a unmatched rich history of success, allowing a team that has 3 regular season losses along with not even going to the conference title game would dilute the CFP. There should be a rule "3 strikes then you're out". Which is why I hope Alabama is not chosen for the CFP. Also I think allowing 12 teams into the CFP is too much. 6 teams in the CFP would be much better.

As a Longhorn fan, I believe Bama is a playoff caliber team. (Same with Ole Miss and South Carolina). However, if SMU wins Albama is in but if SMU loses in a close game… they will need to take Bama out and make room for Clemson and SMU.
What I find amazing is how everyone is having a meltdown over which additional SEC team gets to join the playoff tournament (Alabama, South Carolina, or Ole Miss), and how each school's supporter claims his/her individual school "deserves" to be selected over the other ones. Why do I find it noteworthy? Because it's a study in greed and "never having enough." Look at the teams already more or less guaranteed/projected. 4 teams from the BIG 10 and 4 teams from the SEC -- collectively merely 2 conferences have gobbled up 8 of only 12 spots. In years where Notre Dame has a superb season (such as this one), they as an independent certainly merit a slot ... which means that there are ONLY 3 slots that will be made available FOR ALL OTHER TEAMS and CONFERENCES combined !!! For the greedy megaconferences (SEC and BIG 10), they are never satisfied and never have enough. As it is, it's basically exclusively an SEC-BIG tournament ... which IMO is NOT GOOD for the College Football World. How to fix things in a way that's best for everyone, maintains involvement by all, and also caters "extra" to the SEC and Big 10? It can be done via several measures: 1. First, expand the playoffs to a 24 team bracket with the top 8 seeds receiving a 1st round "bye" and the remaining 16 teams playing in the 1st Round 2. ELIMINATE the 13th game/"Conference Championship Games" and use that weekend (typically the first Saturday in December) for "Round 1" of the playoffs (played by seeded teams #9 through #24; the 8 winners advance to Round 2 to play the top 8 teams having had a bye. Round 2 games take place the week between Christmas and New Year's. The 8 winners from Round 2 advance to play the quarterfinals in Round 3 the week between New Year's and the next week. The 4 winners from Round 3 advance to the semi-finals to play the following week. The two winners from the Round 4 semi-finals meet another week later for the Championship. At every playoff round, the teams are re-positioned so that the highest ranked surviving team is assigned to play the lowest ranked team that survived into the next round. 3. EVERY Conference gets to select ONE team to represent it in the playoffs (typically the conference champion or co-champion determined by the regular season). 4. Notre Dame is guaranteed a playoff spot IF they have an excellent enough season to be in the AP Top 15 at the end of the regular season. 5. The SEC and BIG 10 megaconferences are each guaranteed at least a second conference team included in the playoff tournament. 6. ALL REMAINING PLAYOFF SLOTS are to be the highest ranked poll teams that haven't yet been selected for a playoff berth according to the above conference and independent criteria. This way EVERY Conference maintains interest and "has a stake" in every National Championship because EVERY Conference has at least 1 representative.
Everyone who is crying over Alabama getting needs to get over it . They went undefeated at home and barely lost to Tn at Tn . I understand the two losses to 2 unranked teams were bad but let’s not forget they beat , Georgia, SC, LSU, MO, a hungry Auburn team in the iron bowl to finish the season. Only Oregon can say they’ve had a perfect season to this point. Every other team can only be judged by wins and losses and strength of schedule .
There were 2 controversial calls in the Bama-OK game, especially the touchdown called back. That aside, this Bama team has been under performing, coaching staff judgement questionable and Milroe plays great one play, and then like he's in over his head the next, all season long. Don't think they'll fair well against the upper tier teams, and might get embarrassed again. Been a Bama fan for decades, but I dunno, they may regret getting in, if they do.
I have a similar take. I'll be happy to see BAMA in, but in my mind USC is one of the 12 best teams, with really only 2 losses, ahead of BAMA. I can see BAMA winning the first round, after that who know which team will show up.
Miami still has a chance to get into this playoffs based of last years reasoning that left FSU out knowing even if you win your conference championship and going undefeated if your QB goes down so does your team out of the playoffs.
They must think Saban is still the coach

@deeguwxp ya it's insane how blind they are to not realizing the bias they receive
I’m a Bama fan. I think they should be out. But mostly because they shouldn’t have expanded to 12 teams. This is what you get with expansion. I was against and still am even with Bama getting in.
If Alabama played Miami tomorrow give me Bama and I’m a OU fan
That offense is not keeping up with the Canes
No
@@sebastienc.2257 so how did syracuse beat them?
@@JustinAdams-y6f You’re comparing Syracuse’s offense to Bama. Lmao. They have the only QB with more passing yards than Cam Ward.
SMU needs to win now against Clemson now. Committee has shown their bias for Alabama. They are in no matter what.
The BCS had it right and should have been left alone!
100 percent
The CFP kept Mizzou in the 20s all year to make sure some teams SOS stayed low
Texas after 1 SEC loss: "cupcake schedule, no quality wins, can only beat bad SEC teams"
Alabama after losing to teams Texas blew out: "all SEC teams are hard to beat, Bama would be undefeated with Texas' schedule"
I guess the voters value beating uga at home
Does anyone else hate the jump scare at the end of every ESPN video? It's driving me nuts. I hate the song, but why is the quality so bad. It sounds like a phone recording a speaker.
No 3 loss team should be in.
Get Alabama a 3 loss team out of there. This is BS
I'm not watching college football next year
Bama lost to vandy and Oklahoma….that’s wayyyy worse losses than what Miami has. Despicable work by the committee
No other team with 3 losses would get in especially after getting demolished by an unranked team
Ole Miss would because they beat UGA too.
Alabama is getting in as a favor for past years performances.
After getting beat by Vandy, VANDY! And not get off the bus against the bus the Sooners!
VANDY!
Yeah, bama totally earned it!
Even as a bama fan, im wondering how they are getting away with this 😂
Just look at their schedule.
Did he just seriously compare a replay decision in-game to getting waxed by Vanderbilt and Oklahoma?? Fix is in.
Anyone who follows college football could have seen this coming weeks ago.
Bama should be in 100% strength of schedule is second hardest in top 12
They lost to 2 unranked teams
Now the BIG question is- what happens to the losers of the Big 10 and SEC championship games?
If Penn State loses do they drop? If Georgia loses do they drop? If Oregon loses do they swap spots with Penn State? If Texas loses do they swap spots with UGA?
How is Bama above Ole Miss? They both have losses to unranked teams, but Ole Miss was barely losing by a field goal or single touchdown. Bama got whipped by Oklahoma. It's all about the name.
Because Alabama was good once before, so they get an auto in
It's hard to believe that Miami played worse than Bama did. Who did Miami beat? Louisville lol.
I mean 24-3 to Oklahoma is notably worse lol
Roll tide!
@@nickmarbotROLL PRIDE 🌈
Who has Indiana beat lmaoo
@@whydoineedachanneltocommen8755 Oklahoma is considerably higher than both teams Miami lost to in the FPI and other power rankings. .
People think OU stinks because of their record, but their schedule was absolutely brutal. They're not a bad team.
All men are created equal. But some teams are more equal than others.
I’m a Buckeye fan, but Joey didn’t mention the Bucks losing to unranked Michigan, odd.
I love it all this bama hate is like senzu bean's
Not hate. Just the facts. They scored 3 points against an SEC cellar dweller. Most comments here reflect ESPN’s continued support for Bama and their fanbase’s continued denial of it.
It’s not bama hate. It’s a 3 loss team over a 2 loss team. Bama had the worst losses to unranked teams.
Alabama being in would be better for selling advertising than SMU, isn’t that right ESPN?
The "ranked teams" logic is flawed - Louisville and Duke aren't ranked, but you're crazy if you bet against them in a game with Missouri.
4:21 Thank you Rece. Pound that drum loudly! Just seed the field. Just think, you could be ranked No. 18 or No. 22 and leap frog No. 10-12 for winning a conference championship in a much weaker conference. Pat Mcafee brought this up in his show. The B10 and SEC will cannibalize themselves, then a lower ranked team from weaker conference can fill the power vacuum.
And, the #18-#22 team could have 4, 5, even 6 losses, but as long as it wins its Conference. The CFP12 is awful for CFB...
McElroy.... my guy! The only one talking with SENSE! 💯
Heather and Davis are both absolutely right
People act like head to head don’t matter 🤣
How is Bama in the playoffs!!? Why not Ole Miss or South Carolina? BAMA??? With that logic, why not 9-3 Syracuse?
If I recall correctly, these 12-teams playoffs were made to *avoid* all the subjectivism. FCS!
Who are the best 12 teams now? South Carolina is better than Alabama
I agree with Reece . Just seed the teams - conferences be danged…This automatic bid for a conference champ is a joke
@skat915 because sec would take majority .
Champions should get auto bids but not auto byes
congrats to 'bama for making the college playoffs for the 9th time in last 11 years. now they get chance to avenge the irish for back-2-back national title losses from in the early 1970s. felt sorry for the bear, rutledge, richard todd
Enjoy hate from dumb dumbs who don’t realize the bama bias exists because they have a 40% national championship winning rate in the past 15 years
Although the Alabama crimson tide have a unmatched rich history of success, allowing a team that has 3 regular season losses along with not even going to the conference title game would dilute the CFP. There should be a rule "3 strikes then you're out". Which is why I hope Alabama is not chosen for the CFP. Also I think allowing 12 teams into the CFP is too much. 6 teams in the CFP would be much better.
Please let iowa state and clemson win this weekend. I would love to see Bama fans cry.
Im glad Rece brought up what ive been saying all year. They need to do the NFL style of Seeding which is #1 seed plays the lowest seeded winning of the 1st round. Oregon might benefit from losing Saturday so they don't have to play Tennessee or Ohio State.
Clemson beat SMU, bye Bama. Other than that, Arizona State/Iowa state winner. These the teams 🔥🔥🔥💯💯
If alabama were one and eleven they would still get into this twelve bracket contest because
Couldn't care less about which "bubble teams" rank 12th or 13th... This is not a big deal in a 12 team playoff.
All these schools could play junior colleges to be undefeated and get into the playoffs.
Strength of schedule must come in the play somewhere.
Fun Math: SEC + Big10 + Vegas = ESPN
Bama is bama and will be in
I’m a Bama fan and I don’t even see how we got bumped to 11, I mean yeah we beat Georgia, SC, Missouri, and Lsu but I feel like they’re just ignoring our losses at this point but not anyone else’s 🤣
They need to use a point system to determine playoff teams.
Strength of schedule should definitely be a factor
Georgia will beat Texas in the SEC championship yet they could wind up playing one another for a third time this season... That's nuts.
As a Nole, I hate Miami however they shoud be in over Bama
All the bama hate in the comments brings my heart so much joy 😂😂😂 COPE HARDER
😂
Bama needs to cope with the fact that they are out
@@slibertas1996 only way we’re out is if Clemson wins on Saturday
@ did you like your own comment?
You’ll be crying about your first round exit
Don’t watch the game if you don’t agree. That’s how you fix this.
Yup I ain’t watching anymore college sports and the committee are just another clown show! Bama smoked by Oklahoma yet they’re in the playoffs. Not interested!
Fix what?
As a Longhorn fan, I believe Bama is a playoff caliber team. (Same with Ole Miss and South Carolina). However, if SMU wins Albama is in but if SMU loses in a close game… they will need to take Bama out and make room for Clemson and SMU.
They only expanded the playoffs to 12 teams to let more SEC teams in the playoffs. This is shameful
College FBS (D-IA) football has always been stupid.
Atleast its better than the BCS days.
Miami should be in and heather looks great
Another year, another guarantee that Miami will not win the ACC championship
Bama beat Ga.SEC has best and any team can win it's who shows up
Miami deserves to be in! Not Alabama! Very year the committee is biased towards the Tide!
Yes Miami should
Who impressive did Miami beat
@@ThaTrueHebrew who did Alabama lose to?
Lost to GT and Syracuse. lol?
Bama beat GA and has better wins overall. Keep crying
Miami should join the SEC
Miami vs Bama for a play in game
It can be done via several measures:
1. First, expand the playoffs to a 24 team bracket with the top 8 seeds receiving a 1st round "bye" and the remaining 16 teams playing in the 1st Round
This Bama shyt gotta stop they got thumped by an unranked team
You're the first fellow bama fan I've seen to have the same take as me
Same
I have a similar take.
