Hey Alexis & Louis! Your videos are so great...!! I visited Switzerland in April 2023 with my family and used a lot of tips and information you shared here. I must say, you guys are absolutely wonderful. Thank you very much and stay blessed 😇 I used the Berner Oberland Pass to move around from Bern to Interlaken and then to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and even to Lucerne from Brienz through GOLDENPASS route and ferry ride in Lake Brienz. Also with the connecting ticket visited Jungfraujoch. It was a great tour 👌
I’m taking Louis & Alexis up on their offer….. I’m travelling to Switzerland (Jungfrau Region). Louis is working on a detailed itinerary for a short 4 day trip this coming July. Very excited to see what he puts together for me! Looking forward to the itinerary and the actual trip!
love your videos, lots of great info. I'm planning Sep 2023.. classic itinerary, ZRH to Lucerne to Interlaken to Zermatt to St. Moritz (via Glacier express) back to ZRH. I am thinking the Bernese Oberland pass is the best due to coverage including upto Lucerne and then south up to Brig toward Zermatt. I am planning to get the Half fare card so can get the Bernese Oberland pass itself at the reduced rate (current CHF 260 for 10 days!).
I just returned from 3 weeks in Switzerland ... I almost was planning to buy the 15 + 8 days Swiss Travel Pass but was cheaper to get the GA month pass which gave 1/2 price on Gondolas. I used all modes of transportation with the GA pass which was recommended by the SBB office. I didn't go to many museums since the GA pass didn't cover.
Wonderful description! Perfect. We did our research regarding our travel and passes needed; and were sure to get the BO pass. Stumbled upon your video and now we are comparing our needs between TOE pass or BO.
We just returned from a week in Grindelwald. We bought the Top of Europe pass for 6 days. (309 SFr.) We travelled on almost all the trains and cable cars in de region incl. Jungfraujoch. The pass was well worth it ! If we would have paid al the trips we would have spend more than 600 Sfr. ! If you stay in a hotel or appartment they also give you a visitorspass that gives extra reductions and free use of the bus. We had a wonderful time and didn't stress about the prices of the trains and cable cars. Thanks for your advice !
Are babies allowed? I wanted to go to jungfrau region and we were thinking to not go there cos we heard from someone that babies aren't allowed... Also we are going to use a rent a car to move around the country... So we don't need a pass for every spot. But we do need it where cars won't be allowed.
@@killphaser25 no worries. of course are babies allowed in all the trains. where you have to be careful is at most the pressure equalization. Jungfraubahn would OK because it takes a long time for the train to gain altitude. with large cable cars it could be a bit difficult because they gain altitude very quickly. Oh i would strongly recommend canceling the rental car. switzerland has one of the best train systems in the world. everything is interconnected. trains are considered as "delayed" from 3 minutes and connection quality is at an incredible 98% !!
I have never subscribed to anyone before but I am with you now. I really appreciate what you have to say! Bringing my family there June or July 2023 (3 teens) and would love to know if you have a video where you recommend driving for some parts? We may spend 2 weeks in Swiss - never been before.
Hi both, great video. I'm coming to stay in Thun with my Swiss friends who live in Gwatt, and they want to take us to the Jungfraujoch whilst we are there, I'm thinking of getting the half-price pass and the Berns Oberland but thinking the top of Europe would be better with the half price but we only doing Jungfraujoch for one day! And maybe use trains to explore, more down to Gstaad.
Hi there, no this is no longer in the Canton of Bern so it isn't covered in this pass. You can get a discount to get all the way to Engelberg (50%). Area of validity can be found here www.regionalpass-berneroberland.ch/de/karten/
I should have watched this before I went - I just got back yesterday. Luckily one of my travel companions did. How they missed a day-tripe into Interlaken so they didn't tell my other friend & me that we could go on the funicular there or that it was free with our Top of Europe pass. Luckily we discovered both on our own by chance (as their of us had done the research that they did). They did say that the had gotten us seat reservations to the very Top of Europe (Jungfraujoch) but when we went (towards the very beginning of the day there was no distinction made - even with the lines - so totally not worth reserving here, at least if you go early from my experience - you guys went 2x & said that it is not worth it either)
Good morning I have been seeing a lot of your videos and I love your videos. I am planning to go to Switzerland in the middle of September. My question to US I will be also going to Italy France after visiting Switzerland and I’m still confused about which route pass to get. In Switzerland, I want to do as much as I can in the mountains.
Hey Alexis & Louis!! Your videos have been very helpful in planning our trip this September 2023 to Switzerland. Couple of things in regards to your recommendation on Travel Passes. We already purchased the Swiss Half off Travel card and were think about purchasing the Top of Europe Pass but I see it is not being offered for the summer of 2023. I am willing to purchase Bernese Overland Pass like you recommend providing it will save time in waiting in lines to purchase tickets. Base upon our itinerary it is roughly a break even on the cost of the pass verses what we would have to pay with the 1/2 Card. Can you tell me with the Bernese Overland Pass do you skip the ticket office line and just board the train or cable car? Keep up the great work
Thanks for the useful information. But you forgot to mention that top of Europe train to Jungfrau mountain is valid only for one trip as the ticket will be punched while returning back. Rest of the places can be visited unlimited number of times.
My husband and I will be in the Interlaken region for 8 days during the summer. I’ve been pouring over the various passes and I’ve zeroed in on the Swiss Travel Pass and the Top of Europe pass. Will be using the trains, cable cars, and boats a lot throughout Switzerland and especially the Interlaken region. Wondering about your thoughts about this combo of passes?
Thanks for the video.. How about drive would be possible to talk or do a video covering switzerland travel by car? how to visit the same places? thank you
Thank you for your generosity, sharing all these valuable informations! We could feel genuine intentions to help us maximize our experience in Switzerland. 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭 Question, any travel pointers for those traveling in Fall (early November)?
I hope you can give me some advice please on which travel pass to purchase. I have a unique situation which will take some time to explain. My wife and I (seniors) will be traveling through Switzerland in September on a guided bus/train tour where all transportation is included. The tour starts and ends in Zurich. The tour will be in Grindelwald for two nights on (September 6 and 7). We have the entire day of September 7th to ourselves and we want to go to the Jungfraujoch (not included in the guided tour). The tour ends on September 9th in Zurich and we will take the train and other transportation at our own cost from Zurich on September 9th and go to Murren (as hour home base) to stay for five nights. We want to go to the Schilthorn, visit the towns of Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald, Wengen, perhaps Interlaken and the general Jungfrau and Schilthorn area. We will not have a car. We will leave Murren on September 14th to return to Zurich. I have watched your videos and it appears that we should buy the Half Fare Card and either the Top of Europe OR Berner Oberland Pass. What do you recommend please?
Hi Louis and Alexis, I love your videos re Switzerland as I am planning for a 7 days trip in Oct 2023. My plan is to stay in Lucern for 2 nights, Interlaken for 4 nights and 2 nights in Zurich. Re the Travel Pass, I plan to purchase Half Fare Card + 4 days Top of Europe Pass. I understand the TOE pass includes all cable car rides. Can I check if the Top of Europe pass include all train rides in the Interlaken regions as I plan to visit Grindelwald, Lauterbrenna, Junfraujoch, Murren, etc. How about bus in each town? Is it included? Also would you recommend the Junfra Travel pass instead? As I may be taking a few boat rides during my stay... Thank you!
We are arriving in Zurich on July 26th am, we (4 adults) are planning a day visit and take off on the train to Lucern for one night stay, visit the city in the day and then take the train to Interlaken. Visit Trummelbach fall and around there in the day. Taking the train to Basel. Which train plan should we buy?
The swiss travel pass will offer discounts only (ranging from 20-50%) in the Berner Oberland area. The berner oberland pass will cover everything at 100% except for the jungfraujoch and schilthorn
been binging your videos, i have a question, hope you could help… planning to stay around zurich as my base in visiting Lucerne and Zurich (3days for both) then going to Grindelwald for around 5 days… do recommend us getting the “half pass” then the “top of europe pass” when going to Grindelwald? thanks rhanks and keep safe!
Hello Alexis & Louie, this is a great video for learn more about which pass is better as it’s our first time to Switzerland and want to do top of Europe with our kids. We are going to be two days in Interlaken area and so top of Europe one day and Grindelwald , second day we plan to do Lauterbrunnen and a cruise from lake brienz. We are certain to buy Swiss half fare pass , what’s your recommendations on passes that are Irma best for us for places mentioned above? Many thanks once and your videos are awesome !! AK
Please Help: Please suggest best pass or combination of passes for my one week trip which will include: Pilatus, Titlis, Lauterbrunnen tour with falls, Murren village hike and schilthorn peak, mannlichen, Interlaken thun or brienze lake boat ride, giessbach falls, iseltwald tour , Grindelwald first
Hello. Ill be traveling to Switzerland in early december for 15 days, start from zurich, st Moritz, Zermatt for 4 days, then will be staying in Wengen as base and go around the region for 5 days, and last Geneva. Im planning to buy Switzerland travel pass. The question is should i buy Berner Oberland Pass as well? Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the informative video. Which pass do you suggest if we go by car from Stuttgart? We are planning to stay for 3 days & we are traveling with kids & senior citizens.
Hello guys, thanks a lot for all the details! Quick question, Im traveling with a 1 year old baby in May 2023, are any of these not suitable or less recommended for such a young age? Thinking also on the weather fot his month, as we are from a tropical country, not quite used to cold weather.
Hi Louis ❤ Alexis, We will be in Swiss on the end of March for 6 days stay in Zurich 2 night.we plan to go Lucerne also stay in Zermatt 2 night. We will leave Zermatt to Italy. Which pass should we get? Please help us thank you
I will be purchasing the Berner overland pass however can you tell me when I arrive in Zurich how to best get to zermatt ? Since it’s not valid in Zurich how to buy a ticket to cover reaching the zermatt . Thanks !!
Thank you for sharing all of these options! What about the Swiss travel pass in comparison? We will be mostly in the area you mention in the video but so need to get back and forth to Zurich at the start and end of our trip. Would it be best to opt for one of these and then just pay the one way fee to and from Zurich?
We will be in Ticino in October and we prefer not to stay at a hotel which offers the Ticino Ticket. The Arcobaleno Regional Pass zones/price are as clear as mud to me. Do you have any info on how the regional pass works?
Hi Alexis and Louis I m planing to go in the summer for only 3 days , I want to the top of Europe and also Schilthorn, What pass do you recommend, also planning to stay in interlaken as I think is more convenient. Thanks
Hi we have booked 5 nights stay in November 21 st- to 26th at Interlaken. What is your advise? how the climate would be? what we can see and what train passss woruld work for us? Thanks a lot in advance
The top of Europe pass has been discontinued! Now they have a new "summer travel pass" that includes unlimited trips to Jungfraujoch versus the one "free" trip that was included in the Top of Europe pass. Sadly, we only want to go once, and can't afford the new pass as it's almost double the cost of the Jungfrau pass. :(
So if we want to go to the top of europe, we have to get the summer travel pass and add top of europe? Or no need? Did you also get the half fare pass?
Hi, thanks for the video, i m planning to go to swiss, and our flight will arrive at Basel airport, what do you recommend for 4 days in this region? Interlaken, grindelwald? it's our first time, we will be in the swiss beginning of December 22
Hi Louis & Alexis, we are travelling to Swiss this coming Aug and unfortunately we have bought the Swiss Travel Pass. We planned to use public transport throughout our time in Swiss. Our main purpose of buying STP is to experience the scenic trains 😅 We would like to know which pass is worth to buy if we are visiting jungfraujoch, murren and a few other funicular and attractions there
Have you received an answer? We are traveling to Switzerland for 17days. We are split with the decision of getting Swiss travel pass 15days flex or Consecutive. Not sure what to get.
Hi Alexis and Louis! I'm planning a week trip for this September ☺️ Hubby and I are thinking we will spend the first 4 days fully enjoying grindelwald, Lauternbrunnen, Murren and Interlaken! Then we are going to set a home base in Zurich, do a little exploring there and maybe a day trip or two out from there.... I've been trying to figure out how to do the Glacier express from Zurich? Is it possible to do this ride and back in 1 day?
Next June I am flying into Zurich then traveling to Spiez. If I get the Berner Oberland pass, how to do get from the airport to the validity area of my pass? I know I take a train but how do I figure out which train?
Then have a summer and winter option with different prices due to some seasonal closures. We have a specific winter train pass video as well which covers that
I am planning to buy the Jungfrau Travel pass. My query is about the access to Top of Europe. The web page mentions that I need to pay CHF 75 to visit Top Of Europe but what I have heard is that there are limited tickets to Jungfrau Top of Europe. If I just buy the Jungfrau Travel pass for 3 days starting from June 11, 2024, can I simply visit Eigergletscher on June 11 and pay CHF 75 to visit Top Of Europe OR do I need to book some other ticket in advance?
How do I buy a ticket from Lucerne to Venice since it change countries in the middle. I am trying to figure out if I should purchase Swiss travel pass to cover this day. This will be 4 day pass vs3 day pass. This last day I won’t be using it for anything else. Thanks
Hello all, just wanna check if I’m going the Jungfrau region, are all the gondolas other than eiger express included in the summer pass or no, have to buy separately? Thank you! Will be going in this upcoming May period
Thank you so much for the video! I have a question. Does half fare card work on Grindelwald First activities? (Not the package but individual activity like First Glider) I can't find that information anywhere. Thank you so much!!
Hi i have a question regarding bernese oberland pass.so im staying in bern if i purchase that pass is that mean that its free from bern to interlaken and vice versa?and same as from lucerne to interlaken?i just want to make sure.thank you.
We will be going to Wengen (From Milian) so we already have train passes. That said we will spend 4 days hiking in the area and it SOUNDS like the Jungfrau is the best option for us. It is almost 80 EUs cheaper it seems and for myself and my family seems the better deal. We do NOT plan to go all the way up to the Jungfrau so it SEEMS like the best deal. Any reason we shouldn't choose the Jungfrau Pass?
Hi, me and my partner wish to purchase Swiss Travel pass from 10th August to 12th August and Berner Oberland Pass from 13th August to 15th August. Can you please let me know if i would be eligible to get the Berner Oberland Pass on reduced price.
Hello I heard in hotel, hostels,… they offer you a pass but I was wondering to where those pass can take you? Those it covers trains going to Mürren or Grindelwald if your hostel is located in Interlaken?
We are planning to go from Rome to Interlaken from July 28 to August 1, and would like to take a scenic trip. We are planning to buy a Half Fare Pass (the validity can cross over months right (i.e July 28 to August 28). If we take the Bernina train from Tirano, can we get a discount if we have a half-fare pass, even though Tirano is in Italy? From what I looked at so far, it appears, I have to take a train from Tirano to Churn and from Churn several trains to Interlaken. So from Chrun, the train ticket will also be half or discounted - correct?
Hello☺️ I hope this comment is seen 🤞 We are traveling to Switzerland with my boyfriend for 7 days and bought the Half Fare Pass already. We are planning on staying in the interlaken area for 4 days (Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Grindelwald, etc). We wanted to complement our pass with the Berber Oberland pass but unfortunately is not available in March. Which pass would you recommend to get for our trip? I highly appreciate any help We are trying to save some money on transportation Thanks
You two are fantastic with your tips and links. I'm not really into subscribing. However, you two are really wonderful, clear n informative about Swiss Travel. Thankxxx
Hi Great videos, keep it up. I'm going Switzerland for 4 nights, 5 days near St Moritz. I am driving from Milan Italy. What do you recommend in terms of train passes? As I want to see the views via the train rides but not necessarily be on the train for 9 hrs (Glacier Express). I would rather stop as and where I want too. Do you think it's cheaper to get the tickets as I go or buy in advance? Also is it worth getting the half price fare pass? Thanks in advance
i would recommend this: you could use a regular train ticket from Milano to Tirano and then travel by RhB to St. Moritz with the Bernina Express. www.rhb.ch/en/leisure-travel-and-excursions/discover-graubuenden/graubuendenpass - in the timetable you can finde the trains with "PE" what means this are panoramic express trains. www.fahrplanfelder.ch/fileadmin/fap_pdf_fields/2022/950.pdf
Hi Alexis and Louis, i'm foreign tourist. Could you explain about Interrail and Eurail too, what are the difference between them and with the 3 passes mentioned in your videos ? Thanks in advance. Your videos are so helpful for me as i prepare my trip to switzerland this summer.
I don’t really understand how the half fare card works. I assume that you get the half fare card first, then go to the site for whatever pass you want and give them proof that you have the half fare card. At that point, they will charge you half price for whatever pass you choose. Am I correct?
whenever you buy tickets either online or at a terminal you'll see the reduced 1/2 fare option. You can purchase this at any time. When they check youre ticket on the train, they'll ask to see the valid half fare card if you show them that you have a reduced 1/2 ticket. Some people make the mistake of buying a 1/2 ticket without have the card
Hi Alexis & Louis If I'm visiting visit the Jungfrau and Interlaken region for 3days. And I have 15 days a Swiss Travel Pass. Do I still need to get the Top of Europe Pass, The Jungfrau Travel Pass and the Berner Oberland Pass? Thank you for your advice.
Top of europe/jungfrau pass is a privately owned rail area and does need to be bought separately. You can go up to Grindelwald with the swiss travel pass, but anything above that (going to jungfraujoch) is separate.
Hi, I am planning to stay 3 nights in interlaken and planning to buy BO pass and after that I will be staying at lucerne and planning to buy swiss travel pass. Swiss travel pass will be valid after our interlaken trip. Can I still buy BO pass at reduced price, but my pass will be effected at later dates? Thanks in advance.

Grindelwald's first activities with Jungfrau pass+ half fare card.
Hi Louis ❤ Alexis,
We will be in Swiss on the end of March for 6 days stay in Zurich 2 night.we plan to go Lucerne also stay in Zermatt 2 night. We will leave Zermatt to Italy. Which pass should we get?
Please help us thank you
Thanks for sharing 👍
Life saver video.
Bernese Oberland pass has access to train to zurizh?
I will be purchasing the Berner overland pass however can you tell me when I arrive in Zurich how to best get to zermatt ? Since it’s not valid in Zurich how to buy a ticket to cover reaching the zermatt . Thanks !!
Thank you for sharing all of these options! What about the Swiss travel pass in comparison? We will be mostly in the area you mention in the video but so need to get back and forth to Zurich at the start and end of our trip. Would it be best to opt for one of these and then just pay the one way fee to and from Zurich?
I have the same question. How did you go. Thanks
We will be in Ticino in October and we prefer not to stay at a hotel which offers the Ticino Ticket. The Arcobaleno Regional Pass zones/price are as clear as mud to me. Do you have any info on how the regional pass works?
Hi Alexis and Louis
I m planing to go in the summer for only 3 days , I want to the top of Europe and also Schilthorn, What pass do you recommend, also planning to stay in interlaken as I think is more convenient.
Thanks
what's the best month to see flowers? thanks in advance!
How about if we've already bought Swiss travel pass? there is some information to us to reduce some money to visit all the place in swizerland
I'm planning a week trip for this September ☺️
Hubby and I are thinking we will spend the first 4 days fully enjoying grindelwald, Lauternbrunnen, Murren and Interlaken!
Then we are going to set a home base in Zurich, do a little exploring there and maybe a day trip or two out from there....
I've been trying to figure out how to do the Glacier express from Zurich? Is it possible to do this ride and back in 1 day?
What is the half fare pass? How do we get the discount with the overland pass (last one in video)? Thank you
Next June I am flying into Zurich then traveling to Spiez. If I get the Berner Oberland pass, how to do get from the airport to the validity area of my pass? I know I take a train but how do I figure out which train?
Great video.
Happy New year.Thank you so much.
is top of Europe pass for both summer and winter?
Hello, thank you for the video. If we are staying 6 nights in Wengen and like to stay around the area, which pass would you recommend?
Thanks for the video! It's really helpful. So after we buy the Bernese Oberland pass, do we still need to use the ticket machines?
Can a family buy 1 1/2 price card and apply that for all family members or does each adult in the family need to buy a 1/2 price pass?
I'm going to Interlaken May 13 to 17 and most railways and cable cars are closed for maintenance during my stay 😢
hello omg, touchdown Interlaken! Been watching your videos for months before this trip. Still can’t believe we are already here!
hi does a half fare card get us a discount on the train to junggfrau from grindle wald ? we will also have the bernese oberland pass
It does not unfortunately !
@@TheTravelingSwissThank you for your reply! ❤️
Great video. Just one question , the Swiss half fare card will get 50% off on Berner Oberland regional pass as well ?
Yes
Thank you, it is helpful!
Hello! The 3 day pass also include Grindedelwald first?? Thanks
Hello☺️
I hope this comment is seen 🤞
We are traveling to Switzerland with my boyfriend for 7 days and bought the Half Fare Pass already. I highly appreciate any help
We are trying to save some money on transportation
Thanks
Heyy , the video was really helpfull , had a query if am staying in Brienz for 6 nights and using public transport
Which pass should I go for ?
You two are fantastic with your tips and links. I'm not really into subscribing. However, you two are really wonderful, clear n informative about Swiss Travel. Thankxxx
Any recommendations on which rail pass to get.
What u u have a Swiss rail pass ? If I have to visit grindelwald, jungfrau , lautrebrunen in 3 days what pass should I take
How does one get a half fare card? Would be nice to get the discounted rate.
diff b/w swiss pass ? and this
Swiss pass also works here right i mean trains including lakes?
Moritz with the Bernina Express. www.rhb.ch/en/leisure-travel-and-excursions/discover-graubuenden/graubuendenpass - in the timetable you can finde the trains with "PE" what means this are panoramic express trains. www.fahrplanfelder.ch/fileadmin/fap_pdf_fields/2022/950.pdf
so if we buy the Swiss Travel Pass, does that mean that we will then not have to pay on any other train or boat as shown on the map?
Hi Alexis and Louis, i'm foreign tourist. Could you explain about Interrail and Eurail too, what are the difference between them and with the 3 passes mentioned in your videos ?
Thanks in advance.
Your videos are so helpful for me as i prepare my trip to switzerland this summer.
Is there any monetary difference bet buying earlier online vs on spot?
I don’t really understand how the half fare card works. I assume that you get the half fare card first, then go to the site for whatever pass you want and give them proof that you have the half fare card. At that point, they will charge you half price for whatever pass you choose. Am I correct?
whenever you buy tickets either online or at a terminal you'll see the reduced 1/2 fare option. You can purchase this at any time. When they check youre ticket on the train, they'll ask to see the valid half fare card if you show them that you have a reduced 1/2 ticket. Some people make the mistake of buying a 1/2 ticket without have the card
I will be in Switzerland for about four days
Hi Alexis & Louis
If I'm visiting visit the Jungfrau and Interlaken region for 3days.
Schiltorn is totally free with swiss travel pass. However for Jungfrau mountain exercusion from Interlaken you will get 50% discount with swiss pass.
Great video...im still a bit confused though...
If I have a Swiss Half Fare Card, can I buy the Top of Europe Pass in discounted rate?
yes!
Thank you!!! More power to your vlog 🤗🤗🤗
Is the Berner Oberland Pass available during winter season?
