I'd probably go for either the Saver Day Pass or Interrail depending on how I'm visiting Switzerland. Former if I'm flying in and will also need bus or tram added in, latter if I'm coming in by train, as a 4-day global pass with Eurostar reservations would already pay for itself for the round trip from my local station in the UK alone, but to get bonus train travel within Switzerland with it makes it even better!
Very good video, right on target! Just two little remarks about trains: it's obviously not the classiest thing to do, but it's not forbidden to spread your feet on the seat in front of you. A lot of people do it (mostly young people, I admit) from time to time. If you do it, however, it's important to take off your shoes (or put a newspaper under your feet). Under these conditions, no train agent will reproach you. And of course, you have to free the seat in front when the train fills up! In that It's the same thing for bags and suitcases... Please, no bags on the seat next to you or in front of you when the train is filling up, it's basic courtesy... and yet even at rush hour, some people wait for passengers to ask them if they can sit down to finally remove their bags. This is inexcusable! The second thing is, buying your train ticket in advance allows you to save a lot of money indeed, but not as much as you make it seem in the video. Most of the time, the discount is between 20 and 50% if you buy it more than a week in advance. In some rare cases, you can get 60% off, but I've never seen three times less than the regular price!
Hi! Can you pls share some insights about how did it go? I’m basically going to all those places next week! Did you pay a lot for the mountain transportation that is not included in the Swiss Travel Pass? I believe it only discounts 25% in those areas. Also, did it cover the ticket to Zermatt in full? Sorry for all the questions, I’m still hesitant on buying only the Swiss Travel Pass or buying the Top of Europe Pass and combine it with another travel card Thanks in advance 🙂
@@Gabsabc Swiss travel pass cover all the public transport network including (boat trip) for lake trip around Switzerland you can go Zermat also. This is super helpful, I had no idea there were so many pass choices!! I also just saw that you were offering the 1:1 consultations! That's fantastic!! If we choose to go to Switzerland in the future, I know who to turn to!
Great video!! There isn't much advertising out there regarding regional passes. Our trip is planned for June 11-July 1. I plan on buying the half fare card as well as the Berner Oberland Pass. Our trip starts in Appenzell and our 3 night hotel stay provides us with an Appenzell holiday card, which covers our travel in that region. We're staying in Murren and the BO pass covers roughly half the distance to our next stop in Montreux. The Lake Geneva Pass covers the rest of the distance and all of our travel in that area. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video. I bought the half fare card & definitely will purchase the top of Europe pass. We’ll be there this summer for 3 months and having the half fare card is a good value.
Great tips for travelers, Alexis & Louis! Bottom line from my experience is that Swiss public transportation is SUPER! Between train, boat, & bus you can get to so many places, even many places that are off the beaten path (my favorite spots to go). Do note for your followers that the term "museum" includes most castles, the library at St. Gallen, and the wonderful open air museum of Ballenberg--a real deal! When faced with an entry fee just ask--you may be pleasantly surprised.
Excellent video! I thought I had things planned out by buying a Swiss Travel Pass but now will think again after watching your video. You guys are great!
I’m interested in Swiss train travel! Give me all The options! So interesting all The options and I would have had no idea there so many! I want the Swiss travel pass! Cannot wait to come and visit!
Sbb is helpful to explain what pass u need during your stay. Waiting is long though but worth it. We were lucky bec there was end of season sale so we got the Swiss pass for half off. Got 4 day pass Oct 4-8.
I'm planning to go to Switzerland In August and I had a lot of questions about the costs of transportation. Thank you for explaining In details the different options available to foreigners. The travel swiss pass Is definitely what I will need. All the best to you Alexis & Louis.

I always buy the Swiss Travel Pass Flex That way I don't have to use it every day It is a bit more expensive than the Swiss Travel Pass but totally worth it
Hello Alexis and Louis! I feel like this video definitely helped me figure out which pass will be best for me. My boyfriend and I will be in Switzerland for two weeks in October and will be renting a car the whole trip. I planned out a circular route around the country and I’m thinking we will go with the Half Fare card. I feel like that’s the better option since we won’t be taking public transportation every day and will more so need it for any mountain gondolas. Thanks so much for all the helpful tips!
With the Swiss Travel Pass, where do you sit on the trains if there are no reservations? Just sit anywhere? What if you sit in someone's assigned seat, just move over when they board?
Your suggestion of combining Swiss Travel Pass & Top of the Europe Pass was very informative. It brought a lot of clarity to my itinerary. Thanks to both of you

Hey guys - Thk God I found this channel & thk you for doing it. Quick story. We are a family of 5 (kids/adults-ages 24,22,18) & we love to travel & take advantage of the rare times we are all together. Unfortunately it’s always around the holidays, crazy expensive. This year we searched & threw around ideas where to go - long story longer -we are going to Switzerland. Very impromptu but we booked a week ago. Now it’s time to plan and luckily we came across your channel, which I’m starting to binge. But wanted to get your suggestion on how to attack. very informative video, just in time for our travel to Switzerland this May 2022. I'll send an email for some questions for our trip. Thanks in advance!
Hi Alexis and Louis, I booked a trip to visit Switzerland and Germany for this summer and our plans are to fly into Zurich then travel to Interlaken for 2 days. From there spend 3 days in Grindelwald, then head to Fussen Germany for a couple of days and finally head to Munich to end our trip. We are not renting a car, so all train travel. After watching your videos, it sounds like a good option would be to get Eurail passes and Top of Europe passes and that should cover most of the travels between locations. Please let me know if you think another option would be better. Thank You !
Hi, I am traveling for the first time to Europe with my wife and 7 year old son. My travel dates are fixed. Please suggest if the below travel plan is good or can be modified? 23rd July 2022: Paris to Bern by train. Night stay at Bern. 24th: Bern to Interlaken to Jungfrau train trip and return. Night stay at Bern. 25th: Bern to University of Fribourg to meet my colleague and then Fribourg to Montreux by train and return to Bern. Take a train from Bern to Zurich and night stay at Zurich. 26th: Full day Zurich trip. Night stay at Zurich. 27th: Check out and Train to Munich Please guide me with the best plan and which ticket to go for. I need a budget trip and can't be extravagant. Thank you
Thank you so much for the great information. I will be traveling soon from France with my family, 2 adults and 2 kids and will be renting a car in France. We are planing to stay in the Jungfrau region for about 4 days. Do you recommend getting any of the passes ? We are planning on going to Grindewald -First. Thanks in advance.
hi...very informative....one query - we plan to stay in Lucerne for 3 days and 4 days in Interlaken. Pls to take Mt Titlis, Mt Rigi, Mt Pilatus , Jungfrou....what should I take - Swiss rail pass for 8 days ? I could not understand the top of Europe pass.
I’m actually thinking considering it gives rain for the 4 days we are there we might just pay as we go as the stuff we wanted to do is 645 but if weather bad may not do some and regardless of pay half fare or Swiss travel could cost more in long run
Thanks Alexis and Louis for sharing such great info.. helping us this info in better planning of our vacation !! Kudos to you both !!! Can you pls cover Barnes overland regional pass vs Jungfraujoch pass. We are planning to stay in Jungfraujoch region i.e, grendelwald, wengen , lauterbrunnen, interlaken & visiting top of the europe of course. We are planning to stay in this region for more than 8 days I could not your link for booking swiss pass; can you pls paste those links again? Thanks
This is so helpful! I got a half fare card, but when I go buy my tickets in the SBB's app, it didn't look like I'm getting a discount, even though I clicked "half fare" in my profile. Help! 😭🚂
Hi, are the areas covered by Swiss Travel Pass the same as the Saver Day Pass? Also, does the Saver Day Pass offer discounts to mountain foniculars/cable cars, like the Swiss Travel Pass do? I appreciate your reply. Thank you so much.
Hi Alexis and Louis we are planning to go to Switzerland in 3 Aug 2023 and will be there for 6 to 7 days. Please help us with our travel to all attractions by public transportation. and the cost
Hello, Alexis and Louis…great video, just wanted to know whether separate 3 day Saver day Pass is good enough for us as a family, if booked early at 52 francs…it’s cheaper than a 3 day Swiss travel pass…we need only train travel, no mountain excursions…plan to visit lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren, Grindelwald and take boat rides on Thun and Brienze
Great Video.Liked it, in the Full fare card, do I still need to pay for the ticket ? I am looking for something which is for 1 day and I don't need to buy ticket.
Great video. What is covered if you have a Eurail global pass.? What are the discounts. could you please add that to your videos as well. Thank you from Debbie. Down Under
Great tips !!! I have a question, do you think I can cover in one day both grindelwald , first , wegen , lauterbrunnen back to Interlaken ? If I can start Interlaken by 8 in the morning.. hoping for your response ..
Hi, I really loved your video and it is very informative. I wanted to ask a question if I buy a 2nd class swiss travel pass can I reserve seats in Prestige coach in the Golden pass express or reserve seat in 1st class in the Belle Epoque train. I am really confused, could you help me provide some clarification.
Hi Alexis and Louis, wonderful information, thank you. We will be arriving in Zurich with a rental car and would like to visit Old Town, Niederdorf, Lucerne and Interlaken. Is it possible to drive and park at these locations?
Paul, it depends on what type of traveler you are. Alexis is right, if you know your basic itinerary ahead of time you should calculate the various options to see what's best for you. Because I like to travel all over the country in my two weeks, taking some long train trips (for Switzerland 😉) and will sometimes take 4+ modes of transportation per day (train, bus, tram, boat) the Swiss Travel Pass can be the better deal. Add in that most castles and outdoor museums fall under the "free entry" category and you are able do a quick side trip on the spur of the moment and that makes it worth while. I've taken eight trips in the past decade and I've saved anywhere from a mere 24chf to a decent 89chf. I've never paid more for the STP than what it would have cost to pay for everything separately, but I do go, go, go. I've also done the big mountain trips when I was younger so I will take advantage of whatever smaller mountain excursions the STP has that year for free.
Hi Alexis and Louis. This was such a great help in choosing! Thank you for taking the time to post all the information. I have a question tho that I cant find an answer to (in english!) If I buy my half price card now for travel in May and want to purchase train tickets and Jungfraujoch tickets with it NOW before they sell out, will the half fare card work? Or does it only work when purchasing the tickets during the dates of the pass? I'd like to take advantage of the discounts but seats are selling fast!
What a wonderful video. We are a family of 4 (kids 6 & 4) who will be staying in Lucerne for 8 nights in August & 3 nights in Zurich. We would love to visit a lot of these places in the Jungfrau/Interlaken area. Which pass would you recommend here?
Thanks for the Information you both are doing great job i have 1 question i want to know if we have interrail pass can we take local trains with interrail pass and we cover all the area of switzerland with interrail pass. Please reply thanks
Hi Alexis & Louis! Really love your videos and thank you for the helpful information!! For Top of Europe Pass, will we get a reduction as well if we have Swiss Travel Pass or its only for Swiss Half Fare Pass holder? And is it better to be paired with Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Pass? Also, can you make a video on Zermatt peak to peak passes vs the point to point ticket. Is it worth it to get the passes?
Dear Alexis and Louis. I am planning to visit switzerland in May end and I'll be travelling with my wife and a kid of age 7 yrs. We'll be staying in swizerland for 5 nights. Which Swiss pass do you suggest for us as we'll be visiting Interlaken, Lucerne, Bern and Basel.
I will also have a Eurail pass so a half fare card helps or I need regional pass plus Swiss or half card ? A bit confused so will appreciate your advice @the Travelling Swiss 🙏🏻
Hi guys. Amazing channel. Is the validity and benefits of the Swiss Pass and Top of Europe pass the same in the interlaken and Jungfrau area other than the Jungfrau itself?
Jesus, this is exactly the video I was hoping for!! I have a question if you don't mind: me and my fiancee are going to travel switzerland for 18 days, staying mainly at Jungfrau, Zermatt and Lucern regions. We got the STP for 15 days. Do you think we would be better off with the half fare card?? Oh! And do we have the 50% discount for the Zermatt and Jungfrau passes also? Tnx guys, great work! ❤️

Thank You !
Hi,
I am traveling for the first time to Europe with my wife and 7 year old son.
27th: Check out and Train to Munich
Please guide me with the best plan and which ticket to go for. I need a budget trip and can't be extravagant.
Thank you
so helpful, thanks
We are planning to stay in this region for more than 8 days
I could not your link for booking swiss pass; can you pls paste those links again?
Looks like we can use Swiss Half Fare Card while purchasing Top of Europe Pass, am I correct?
Hi Alexis and Louis we are planning to go to Switzerland in 3 Aug 2023 and will be there for 6 to 7 days. Please help us with our travel to all attractions by public transportation. and the cost
Hello, Alexis and Louis…great video, just wanted to know whether separate 3 day Saver day Pass is good enough for us as a family, if booked early at 52 francs…it’s cheaper than a 3 day Swiss travel pass…we need only train travel, no mountain excursions…plan to visit lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren, Grindelwald and take boat rides on Thun and Brienze
very informative video, thank you
You guys forgot my favorite berner oberland pass for the Jungfrau region^^
We cover it in our video specifically for train passes in that region! One of our favorites too :)
This is really helpful. Thank you!
Down Under
Thankyou so much … your videos are the best ..They help a lot ..
hi, good to hear you both. if we have swiss day pass that comes in 52 franc, then our children free to travel with us or have to buy for them also.
Great tips !!! I have a question, do you think I can cover in one day both grindelwald , first , wegen , lauterbrunnen back to Interlaken ? If I can start Interlaken by 8 in the morning.. hoping for your response ..
Hi can u make video on tell pass? Is it worth it?
Hi, I really loved your video and it is very informative. I wanted to ask a question if I buy a 2nd class swiss travel pass can I reserve seats in Prestige coach in the Golden pass express or reserve seat in 1st class in the Belle Epoque train. I am really confused, could you help me provide some clarification.
Hi Alexis and Louis, wonderful information, thank you. We will be arriving in Zurich with a rental car and would like to visit Old Town, Niederdorf, Lucerne and Interlaken. Is it possible to drive and park at these locations?
Thank you for this information!
Very helpful guide indeed... seems like the Swiss Travel Pass is a bit of a price gouge!
Switzerland is not cheap! It's actually the most expensive country in Europe!
Hello. How about the supersaver tickets? How it works?
Great video. Thanks you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope its helpful!
This is super helpful, nicely explained everything. Thanks a ton.
Very informative video ! Definitely subscribe & follow you.
Thanks for the Information you both are doing great job i have 1 question i want to know if we have interrail pass can we take local trains with interrail pass and we cover all the area of switzerland with interrail pass. Please reply thanks
I am planing 1 day in Zurich, 1 day in Luzern and 3 days in Interaken then to Salzburg ( Austria ). What would you suggest ?
Please share the website to book panoramic trains...
Very good information
I will also have a Eurail pass so a half fare card helps or I need regional pass plus Swiss or half card ? A bit confused so will appreciate your advice @the Travelling Swiss 🙏🏻
Hello. Can you please tell me about Tell Pass pros and cons..
