Like others have said, "eating out is very expensive in Switzerland". One of my favourite restaurants in Zurich is the Zeughaus Keller located on Bahnhofstrasse at the Paradeplatz tram stop. A typical Swiss dish of Schnitzel & Pomme Frites (breaded pork cutlet & fries) is about chf35. A tip for travellers in Zurich looking to save money on lunch is to visit the restaurants of the department stores (Migros, Jelmoli, or Globus). Usually you can get a Schnitzel & Pomme Frites there for about chf15, and enjoy their outdoor rooftop tables.
Hi Alexis and Louis, Just wanted to say a huge thank you to both of you. I've watched this video a number of times while planning for our trip to Grindelwald. My hubby and I pretty much followed your suggested 3-day itinerary (including the hotel) and we both had an amazing and memorable time. Love your videos. Keep them up 😊👍
Switzerland is undoubtedly very beautiful. But one must have tons of money to appreciate its beauty. In the Himalayas you will need more physical effort but very little money.
Great help guys!! We are coming to Switzerland in June for 2 weeks which will be our first trip there. We have 3 nights booked in Interlaken and I've been doing a lot of research on hikes etc. There is so much to see and I know we can't do everything but this helped a lot!! Thank You!
I just returned from a trip to the area that you are taking about. I was on a tour so we were pretty busy visiting different villages. I thought that it would have been nice if we had been able to take more than a day to look around.
Thank you so much for this video!!! My family and I followed this Itinerary including purchasing the 3 day Top of Europe pass for our 3 day trip to Grindelwald area. We added some places from your Interlaken region video on our third day. We enjoyed our stay so very much.

Just came back from the Grindelwald yesterday and did almost exactly what you suggested. Amazing! My wife and I are very active so we actually managed to squeeze in a day in Interlaken as well. Thank you so much!
Salam I’m going there in summer with my teenagers and my wife. Do you know what is the best way to go there from Zurich and can you advice where should I take them also where and what hotel I should book? Thanks
@@kshipon1798 salaam. First things first, please be prepared because Switzerland is generally pretty pricey. You have 2 choices to get to Grindelwald. It’s very easy to hire a car and drive down from the airport. Or you can take a train from Zurich Terminal. Again this is very simple and you can buy a ticket when you’re there. It’ll take maybe 2hrs+ by car, 4hrs or so by train, I can’t fully remember. When you get to Grindelwald, you should by the Top of Europe pass. Depending on how long you are there for, this can be 1 day or 3 days, or maybe even 4/5 days. This gives you access to the local trains and Grindelwald First. The trains are important, as you will want to visit places like Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken (I still can’t believe the water here), Wengen etc. I’d encourage you to cover every area possible as there is something amazing everywhere. Then, with Grindelwald First - you have access to the some activities are there which are very cool. You can ride the Gondolas as well. You also have a one time access to Jungfraujoch, which is passage via a stunning Gondola to a train that takes you to the top of Jungfrau. It’s really special. Honestly, there are many things to do, and people are very friendly, I’d suggest you ask your hotel receptionist and they are full of information and brochures. We stayed at the Jungfrau Lodge, about 5 mins walk from Grindelwald station. Btw, you can easily spend a good half day just taking pictures near where you are staying. Amazing place!
@@shahjrahman Thank you so much brother. After visiting Italy I will go to Switzerland just for 2 days. I want to go GRINDELWALD for 1 day and Zurich or Geneva for 1 day. @@kshipon1798 I have been to Zurich and Geneva separately in the past. My personal experience is there is nothing special to be honest. Yes you can buy 1 day pass, and you have to buy tickets individually for everyone. If you are going for 1 day only maybe this pass is not necessary.
Hi Alexis and Louis.I enjoy watching your videos. I am currently planning my trip to Switzerland and find your suggestions to Grindelwald exactly what I need to know! TQ so much
Just hope to have good weather! I went there with my fiancée in 2019 in August and it wasn't rainy but it was cloudy. We couldn't see anything until much later that day, so no views of the mountain from the cliff walk :(

Great video, thank! We are going to Grindelwald to ski in March, should we get the "top of the world pass" in addition to our lift ticket, or will our lift ticket cover most of the cable cars and gondola's you showed in the video?? Thanks

We visit piz Gloria / schilthorn in our Mürren video, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend that AND Jungfraujoch in the same itinerary since they’re both very expensive and aren’t covered 100% on any pass
@@TheTravelingSwiss fair point Piz Gloria is mental expensive. But the Glacier Canyon is only 19 Swiss. And u can see it without having to go in it. Hi guys , amazing video , me and my husband is using your videos to plan out Switzerland trip which is in End of august. Hey Guys!! Great video!! My wife and I will be traveling to Switzerland from Costa Rica. We saw your videos and we like the Swiss Travel Pass. We want to visit Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Is the train to those 2 places included in the Swiss Travel Pass??
Your videos are so helpful. My daughter and I are traveling to Zurich. Wasn’t sure where to stay until we head to Germany or what to do. This video made my mind up. I have booked a 4 night stay at the Kreuz and Post, the deluxe double room with balcony. OMG I seriously cannot wait. We are going at the end of September. I’ve decided to follow this 3 day itinerary, everything looks so beautiful 🤩 Will I have to get Francs or can I use my debit card? We are traveling from the states.
I’m going to Zurich too before I head to Paris I want to go to GRINDELWALD but confused, can you tell me what is the best way to travel to GRINDELWALD from Zurich? How expensive the hotel? Thanks
Would you recommend Murren AND Grindelwald for a first time visitor? We will be traveling with a toddler, and we want to do the Jungfraujoch, too. Thanks!!
I will have a few days to spend around Interlaken and was wondering if there is any place where we can do sled and sky-hiking, so this video was really helpful!
Hi Alexis & Louie, thanks for the videos you've posted. Your channel has really been a great help for my and my husband to plan our trip to Switzerland! We are really looking forward to visiting Grindelwald and I might be a little confuse here, does the Swiss travel pass cover the top of Europe pass or must this be purchased separately? Thank you and sending love from Singapore 🥰
I really appreciate the information you shared in this vedio. We are planning to visit Switzerland for 5 days (3 days in Grinderwald and Jungfrau, 2 days in 1 in Zermatt). So which one suits well - Top of Europe Pass or Swiss tour Pass?
Wow your channel is fantastic. we are in Australia and visiting Europe in October with a week in Switzerland. Do you offer a service (paid) on assisting with itineraries! if not why not!!! you guys offer great advice.
hi alexis and louis, I've watched so many videos that you made.. I'm going to Swiss next week.. but, I need some help here.. so, I will be staying at grindelwald.. and my plan, is to get to the top of jungfrau, and also to explore the grindelwald first (hiking, cliff walk, and also the adventure activities) so which pass shpuld I buy? to get it all in one package so I don't have to pay more? thank you for the help.. means so much to me!
Hello Loved the video Thanks a lot of great information. We are going to be there in august and I have a question. Which pass would be the best and most economical. We plan on arriving in Zurich and taking the train to lauterbunnen staying there one night then up to gimmaelwald for a week With lots of hiking and train and gondola trips then headed to mirren for a few days then to grindlewald for another week of trains and gondolas. Would it be better for a 15 day Swiss rail or a top of the world??
First time here.I love this channel.Me and my husband are looking to retired. What do you recommended? Good places to lives? House prices ? Hospital information Etc? Thank you so much.Hi from Orlando Florida.
Hi great video, just a quick question. Is it with the top of europe pass completely free to travel to the top of jungfraujoch, or do you have to pay an additional fee? Thanks, for all the information in the video.
Love your videos and this one is fantastic! My daughter and I are there at the end of the month. I already purchased an 8 day Swiss Pass for each of us because we are bouncing around a lot. But would it be worth it to also buy the Top of Europe pass, or just buy the tickets individually at half price with the pass we have. We will be staying a night in Grindelwald and two nights in Wengen, and plan to loosely follow your suggested itinerary. First looks like a blast for a day; we had already planned to do Jungfrau, and we were thinking to either walk around Lauterbrunnen or go up the Mannlichen Lift and walk around. It will depend on the weather and how well I handle all the activities . Nice problem to have these decisions to make :). Thank you!
Hi guys, thanks for the video, very helpful. We are going to Grindelwald this summer. May I have question, if you know, does the Top of Europe pass include the activities on First (like the First Flyer or Mountain Cars)? I didnt find it anywhere :-) Thank you and greetings from Czech republic :-)
@@RamkumarVcs31 I find out, the pass doesn't include the activities, you can use the pass for gondola and buy the ticket to the activity solo (21 CHF for the Trottibike or mountain cart and 31 CH for the Flyer or Glider)
Hey! We're heading the Grindelwald in December and cannot wait! One question about the hotel - is the rooftop wellness section included in your cost for the hotel room? I know you'd have to pay extra for a massage, but is the wellness area accessible to everyone in the hotel? Thank you!
Thanks so much for this! I'm currently.staying near Luzern. Are the panoramic trains worth it to pay for them?(I have the 2nd class Swiss travel pass so it's around $46 CHF for a the Gotthard one)
To tell you the truth, I never bother with them and I never felt like my view was restricted in any way (besides that truly awful recent development: the ugly sound screens blocking the view all too frequently, spray-paint graffiti and all - who, what IDIOT, ordered THAT? Ahem, sorry. This eyesore seems to be still blissfully absent along the Luzern-Interlaken line but you'll see them on the Gotthard line). Back to the views: even regular trains along well-known routes seem to have those tall windows and extra angled windows at the ceiling corners these days. Of course the special fancy cars have their own atmosphere, so YMMV.
Very informative video guys!!..Just a clarification needed..you said Grindelwald First is included in Top of Europe pass..so does that mean the round trip gondola ride is also included??If we just want to do the First cliff walk..do we have to pay anything extra?
Thank you for this video, very helpful. I am heading to Switzerland in mid June. Planning my trip now. I have a question. Top of Europe pass covers only the train rides from Grindelwald, am i right? I will still need to pay for the transport from Geneva to Grindelwald, right? Thanks in advance for you response.
Thank you very much for the informative video. I’m going there in early June and plan to get the jungfrac summer pass. Did u need to still pay for the last leg of train to jungfracjoch with the pass?
Hi guys, I have a question. My husband and I are planning this trip and it will be our first time. Lots of cool things to see.🐸
Hi you never mentioned Piz Gloria or the Glacier Caynon which is only a mile away from Grindelwald and is well worth a visit
Did u know that the shop in Piz Gloria has no online presence, so u can only buy the shop stuff from being in the shop. And what about these crazy toilets 😁😁
Thanks for this episode.
Hi guys , amazing video , me and my husband is using your videos to plan out Switzerland trip which is in End of august. I have a 2 year and a 10 year old , can I take a stroller to the cliff walk and how about the hike to Bachalpsee , any suggestion on if it’s advisable or feasible to do the hike with the stroller and the toddler? Also can I go to the waterfalls in Trummelbachfalle with my toddler and the stroller.
Hi both, me and my son hoping to go there maybe September, but I am not great at planning and travel, I like it all written down so I know where I am, my dyslexia plays a part in that, do you have a printable version of the itinerary or can recommend somewhere I vould get one. Many thanks 😊
Hey Guys!! Great video!! My wife and I will be traveling to Switzerland from Costa Rica. We saw your videos and we like the Swiss Travel Pass. We want to visit Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Is the train to those 2 places included in the Swiss Travel Pass??
Awesome video! Thank you
Fabulous guys! Luv Louis' practical advice from Swiss expert and how Alexis dumbs it down for Americans! Captions super helpful too.
A lot of good info! Thanks!
Thanks!!
Thanks for the info, I plan to come in Sep and buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass. If I go to Jungfraujeoh, with the Pass, it’s free, right?
I will have a few days to spend around Interlaken and was wondering if there is any place where we can do sled and sky-hiking, so this video was really helpful!
Hi Alexis & Louie, thanks for the videos you've posted. Your channel has really been a great help for my and my husband to plan our trip to Switzerland! We are really looking forward to visiting Grindelwald and I might be a little confuse here, does the Swiss travel pass cover the top of Europe pass or must this be purchased separately? Thank you and sending love from Singapore 🥰
The Swiss travel pass does not cover the top of Europe unfortunately
@@TheTravelingSwiss this clears our doubt, greatly appreciated!!
May I know in which month you visited. Weather looks nice.
I really appreciate the information you shared in this vedio. We are planning to visit Switzerland for 5 days (3 days in Grinderwald and Jungfrau, 2 days in 1 in Zermatt). So which one suits well - Top of Europe Pass or Swiss tour Pass?
Bello, molto professionale!! Qualcosa su Sciaffusa 2022!? Grazie
Wow your channel is fantastic. we are in Australia and visiting Europe in October with a week in Switzerland. Do you offer a service (paid) on assisting with itineraries! if not why not!!! you guys offer great advice.
Will be staying at Grindelwald for 3 nights. Cannot wait :D
Day 1: Grindelwald First/Cliff Walk
Day 2: Jungfrau
Day 3: Piz Gloria
Is the First Cliff walk free? thank you for the tips, really helpful.
hi alexis and louis, I've watched so many videos that you made..
AMAZING!!!! Thank,youn
Absolutely incredible and amazing 😍 great tips and ideas guys 🐱😁
Hi great video, just a quick question. Is it with the top of europe pass completely free to travel to the top of jungfraujoch, or do you have to pay an additional fee? Thanks, for all the information in the video.
with top of europe pass you can go to the Jungfraujoch 1x completely covered with the pass
Thank you!
Thanks for the information.I wanted to know if I purchase top of Europe pass does it include the train ride from Grindelwald to Interlaken.
I have the same question
I too have the same question, did you figure out ?
@@RamkumarVcs31 I find out, the pass doesn't include the activities, you can use the pass for gondola and buy the ticket to the activity solo (21 CHF for the Trottibike or mountain cart and 31 CH for the Flyer or Glider)
Hey! We're heading the Grindelwald in December and cannot wait! One question about the hotel - is the rooftop wellness section included in your cost for the hotel room? I know you'd have to pay extra for a massage, but is the wellness area accessible to everyone in the hotel?
Thank you!
Yep! Wellness area is accessible to everyone - you just tap in with your room key!
@@TheTravelingSwiss Awesome - thanks guys!
@@JanPBtest thank you! Got it, I feel inclined to perhaps skip the panoramic trains then if the price isn't justified.
@@Thefitty The SBB info office at the train station would probably be worth asking about it?
@@JanPBtest I sure will!
Very informative video guys!!..Just a clarification needed..you said Grindelwald First is included in Top of Europe pass..so does that mean the round trip gondola ride is also included??If we just want to do the First cliff walk..do we have to pay anything extra?
So useful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Is it possible to do First Cliff Walk and Jungfraujoch in the same day if starting the day very early?
Thank you very much for the informative video. I’m going there in early June and plan to get the jungfrac summer pass. Did u need to still pay for the last leg of train to jungfracjoch with the pass?
with the Top of Europe pass you don't need to pay for the last leg of the train. Any other pass you'll need to pay additional fees
@@TheTravelingSwiss Thank you very much, :)
Hi guys, I have a question. My husband and I are planning this trip and it will be our first time. We will be spending about 7 days total. 3 days in Zurich, but still undecided which of the two regions to pick for the 4 days we are thinking of Interlaken or wrinderwarld. Both are beautiful. We are planning on taking the the top of Europe pass. Which of the regions would guys recommend? 😄 much appreciated your help.🙏🏽
Hello, I will be traveling last week of November to Switzerland. Considering the month,, is it ideal to stay in Grindelwald for 2 nights or Interlaken? Thanks!
Love your channel !!!! So helpful with great ideas for travel in Switzerland. We are from California. My husband and I had a trip planned to Switzerland May 2020 but had to cancel due to covid shutdown. Do you know the requirements to enter the country now ??? Thank you :)
They have been dropped.
There are no requirements. You can always check: www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/empfehlungen-fuer-reisende.html
hey guys, thanks for the lovely videos. can i ask if it's worth it to visit Bern, Luzern, Interlaken within the same day for 2 reasons ( i only have one day, and also i have a saver day pass so i can save a lot from transportations). so can i spend like an hour or 2 in each city is it enough you think?
