I think some changes would help. First, his cage isn't really big enough. He would benefit from a larger cage he really needs some toys to play with and destroy. He is a beautiful healthy bird. My YNA hates having fingers waved at him and it's a sure way to get him wound up and aggressive. Not a good move with an amazon! They hate being teased!

The cage shown in this video is really only big enough for a bird half Charlie’s size.

poking and waving fingers at any bird is bad not just an amazon.

My Amazon, when he was given to me in the 1990s, was in a cage about the size of Charlie’s. I immediately went out and spent a fortune on a huge cage. And toys. Only to watch him sit on his perch and not utilize any of the extra space, or play with most of the toys. For decades. I’m not saying people should put their birds in tiny cages, and I agree Charlie might need one at least a little bigger, but sometimes it depends on the activity level of the bird.
My issue here is having the kitty litter right next to the bird cage. Birds have very sensitive respiratory systems, and dust from kitty litter, and all the bacteria in it, since it’s actually a toilet for cats, is very bad. Also, it kind of looks like Charlie here is off in a side room somewhere. He should be in the main part of the house where the family is.

That is a lie go away don't be so stupid. I've had my Amazon parrot for years and it is not true at all. You are making out parrots are perverts They are not. Nature is not a pervert. Revolting people are perverts . Ask yourself why. We do know by the way. Parrots bite perverts they don't get "hormonal' over them.

Wow! Mine will be 40 next year. I have had him for 33 years, I’m his 3rd owner. He was wild caught in the 1980s, then imported, when they still did that. I’ve read that wild caught birds tend to live longer. Coming from wild stock, and healthy parents who lived long enough to breed, then surviving being taken from their nest and the importation process - well, only the strongest birds with good healthy genes survive all that, so they tend to be the birds who also live the longest in captivity. If anything happens to me, my 17 year old niece wants mine.

I can see from the food bowl that you need to change its diet ASAP! It needs to be on a pellet food (like Harrison's or something similar). A seed diet is VERY bad for an Amazon as the fat in it damages their liver.

    • @warlock8480
      @warlock8480 3 года назад

Harrison's is bad as well. It is full of fillers and seeds, which should only be a minor part of the diet.
Too many seeds, nuts, and fruit in their diet can lead to fatty liver disease and obesity.

@@warlock8480 Harrison's is HIGHLY recommended by board certified vets in avian medicine. It does not have seeds in it. My amazon ate it for more than 35 years. Of course you should also be feeding your amazon vegies and fruit in addition to the pellets.

    Hey,
Have you ever tried feeding a pellet diet for Charlie?
My Amazon Audi really likes the Roudybush pellets and I save the seeds for treats. This food will ensure that Charlie is getting proper nutrition.
Sadly the thing about Amazons is, unless you’re actively engaged with the bird it will never bond with you. You have to spend a lot of hours standing in front of the cage talking and singing to them to build the trust.
Has your wife tried playing RUclips videos for Charlie? Audi loves them so much. I don’t agree when people say that Amazons will only bond with one person. It’s just not true. I don’t blame your wife for being afraid, Amazons can give you a very nasty bite.
I think your bird is a female.
I’ve had Audi for 13 years and she’s never laid an egg and I had her DNA tested when I adopted her when she was two years old.
She’s really cute, looks very much like Audi except Audi has a bit more blue on her head.
I use this food and the Roudybush California blend.

I hope you no longer treat your bird this poorly and have learned from other people's comments this is improper treatment to this beautiful animal. And he's a sweet bird too. It's a shame you are turning him into an aggressive bird.

My Blue-front Amazon is 23 years old and she can be moody, very moody! One minute she wants to be scratched and two minutes later she'll rip your hand off. I walk away when she is nasty . . . like a time-out for a temper tantrum 3 year old. She does like being able to see us all the time though; must a be insecurity thing. We do play You Tube videos for her all the time though and she does like them.

  • @geslinam9703

He is very beautiful….but please consider another spot for him, or move the kitty litter to another place. Birds have extremely sensitive respiratory systems. Kitty litter puts dust particles into the air, not healthy for Charlie to be breathing that in at all. And, considering the kitty litter is your cat’s toilet, that dust in the air is not exactly clean. Think about it…would you want to live, sleep, eat, right next to a kitty litter box?
Also, and I probably already know the answer to this….but it looks like he is off in a room you all don’t really use that much. He would probably be much mush happier in the parts of the house that you do use. Most people don’t want to do this because of the mess, but birds want to be with their flock. That is why he talks more when you leave the room, he is trying to get you to come back.

Hey guys- I’m wondering which bird I should get... a blue fronted amazon or a Soloman Island Eclectus. Don’t worry, I’ve owned parrots before and researched a lot. I just cant think of which I should get and I’m thinking only one of them. So which do you think?
    Points:
    I have other birds
I’ll let him fly around outside (looking for a male)
Will take him on walks of course
He won’t be free roamed and will have a cage though (large)
Will have plenty of toys, interaction etc (to where there is a limit though!)
    And more...
I’m hoping he will get along with my other birds (each bird is individual though so we don’t know what he will think of them)
    Well... any ideas?
