Wow! Can’t wrap my head around about what causes the difference! Could be the tires ?? Low pressure perhaps or cold weather ?

All of those things would effect mpgs, but it would effect Kia's car figures as well. Basically, their programming may just figure on the high side where some other figure on the low side.

Without the extra "top off" that was done the mpg is 29.8 which matches what the car says. I think that extra squeeze fills the tank past what the computer calculates as full.

It is possible, but if it fills past what the computer calculates as full that would then mean I would have free miles making the mpg higher right?

26 mpg? How fast where you going? I had my '24 SX Turbo steady 80 mph for an "X" amount of miles & was getting 28 to 31 & on NORMAL Setting. I ran 89 Mid-Grade gasoline.

@@offtheshelfrides Canadian or American model? I've been seeing all sorts of stories of Canadian & American saying I get this mpg, etc. But the terrain & driving habits, elevation has alot to do with it. I know they can go in and TUNE it a little better to gain some more mpg.
Toyota has a Hybrid 2.5 L Turbo on their New CROWN AWD, and it gets 38 plus mpg.

Yea but that is a hybrid. This isn't and it's an American model.

In my x line 1.6t owners manual it says use 87 or higher. Doesn’t specify their recommendation. I interpret that as 87 minimum but higher is recommended. I run 91 and my dealer agreed with my interpretation. What are your thoughts on this? Just trying to get different opinions

Yes, generally that means it is programmed to run on 87, anything below that will cause the engine to not run properly. Anything above, if fine. Some manufacturers, Mazda and Ford, have different programming for different octanes and a sensor will adjust performance accordingly. The higher the octane, the higher the horsepower, but I don't think Kia does that.
