      Rinus Michels is actually the one who invented the Attacking Totall Football style. Johan Cruijff was known for defensive possession play when he (Cruijff) explains his diamond he goes on to say I actually am more defensive then people think I am. People get it mixed up Rinus Michels was the one for the Attacking Totall Football not Johan Cruijff

    I envy people like you that can bring inspired tactics to life, I think the thing I struggle with the most is role combinations I never know which one to pick and they always overwhelm me, but nonetheless very solid video!

      Id watch the first half of this video and try to understand total football first , then my advice would be to change the camera, make it director, zoom out, watch the match engine full highlights/extended for few games when building a tactic! You have to understand the starting position of each role(what space they occupy) / how they act in posession(where they find space/how useful they are there/where they move into)/who they pass to / your shape when getting countered and who covers where when ur defensive shape settles. I use a false 9/AP support cm/inverted wingback on attack -on the opposite side- a cm attack/ inside fwd support / Inverted wingback on defend (with a Half Back at DM). Start of build up the f9 drops to RM/RW, moves into the number 10 as the inverted wingback attack moves into RW, advanced playmaker sitting between the 2 and other side of pitch, Inside fwd cuts inside while the cm attack moves into the box (making an umarked run for a 1v1 or as a 2nd striker). The inside fwd and inverted wingback on defend find the inverted wingback on attack with across pitch through balls and the f9 does the same for the inside fwd or cm attack on the other side.

      First of, I'd say that everyone gets overwhelmed with all the roles and tactical choices sometimes, so don't worry!
      For picking roles out of all the options, I'd say that the most important thing is having a clear general tactical plan in mind. What kind of football do you want to play? From there you can decide what each player should be doing in that general tactical plan. Should they be attacking or defending, which spaces should they look to occupy and what kind of passing do you want to this player to make. Once you've got that down, you can carefully read all the role descriptions and choose the role that matches your plan the best.
      Hope this helps you out, and let me know if there is still something unclear!

    This is a great video, it outlines the basics u need to understand to make your own total football tactic- Attacking - fairly wide/standard passing/slightly higher tempo/work ball into box/play out of defense/counter/counter-press/normal high line /slightly more press with instructions on attackers and wingbacks to press more and for ppl to shoot less) - its more about the player roles / instructions / traits . You have to understand the starting position of each role(what space they occuppy) / how they act in posession(where they find space/how useful they are/where they move into/who they pass to) / your shape when getting countered and who covers where ! Perfect example is my tacitc of a false 9/AP support cm/inverted wingback on attack on opposite side of a cm attack inside fwd support / Inverted wingback on support* (with a Half Back at DM) . The halfback in my formation is the ball playing defender from this videos formation, the f9 drops to the wing during early build up as an outlet and when u gain possession but as the inverted wingback on attack pushes up he moves more centrally into a 10, creating brand new triangles with a bunch of the players. CM attack and inside fwd find spaces constantly on the opposite side, and the inverted wing back on attack (who i just pick the most athletic best creative passer for) is always my highest rated player because he keeps finding the F9 and the ST! Inside Fwd and inverted wingback on support find the striker/cm attack/inverted wingback attack on other side bursting through to go 1v1!

      Couldn't have said it better myself. A perfect summation for how I intended videos like this: take away the tactical concepts to make your very own tactic! Your tactic sounds tasty as well, how has it been performing for you?

    • @Sledgehammer003
      @Sledgehammer003 Год назад

      @@coachroan Its my "top" meta tactic on 22 Started with deportivo la coruna in 3rd div. with it got to the semi finals of the del rey 1st year- Quick team turnover is ur biggest enemy. Worse players could play better , way more evident for some positions like iwbsupport/main st , due to being at the club/familiar with tactic for longer way more than any other tactic ive used(just like actual total football).. PS. I use player roles and player traits like try killer balls often on winger/wingbacks or one twos for strikers or arrive late into box/get into opposition area/dictate tempo/killer balls often for cm , to help with using as few team instructions like pass into space etc, that are very limiting if u instruct every1 to do it , as little as possible. Same with pressing on who i want to press rather than go overkill on team pressing because then we are just chasing ghosts. Works without the traits but theres a visible difference too- Thanks for the video tho! Its super informative even for someone who knows and understands the basics of total football, I didn't realise how important the 10 was tbh. Both the f9 and inside fwd on support act as 10s for me basically, with cm attack/striker acting as a 2 striker deal almost ! PS. the inverted wingbacks are on support(defensive one) and attack(attacking one) , to balance out with other roles when in possesion defensively!

      @@Sledgehammer003 really sounds like you've got a deep understanding of the tactical system in FM, love that! Also fully agree with the power of individual instructions over team instructions for certain situations, as there are clear examples where you wouldn't want your entire team following a certain instruction, but it could be pivotal for a smaller set of your player roles!

  • @willfirmstone492
    @willfirmstone492 Год назад +2

    Loved it, really interesting to hear you translate a real-life tactic into fm. Perhaps tricky due to time constraints, but have you thought about simulating a season with the chosen tactic at their associated clubs to see how successful the tactic is in practice? So for example, you could discuss the roles and instructions like you've done here, but then apply them to the current Barcelona team and simulate one season of using it to try and win the league? And for Mourinho tactics you could simulate a season with the current chelsea squad etc. Either way I found it a very interesting video, keep it up mate!

    • @coachroan

      Great suggestion! I've considered this a lot, and I'm simply unsure if people would be interested in results of stimulating tactics. I personally always skip that bit in other creators videos, as I'm personally always more interested in just the tactical concepts. I also think that having the videos short and compact is valuable as well. On the other hand, I do also see the value of discussing some results to see how roles perform in a season etc. So I'm still on the fence about it

      @Sledgehammer003 Год назад

      You dont need to use all the instructions he does tbf they seem situational. If you watch the first half of the video on the basic principles of total football and are moderately good with tactics on FM u can make ur own. Here's a cheat sheet : Attacking - fairly wide/standard passing/slightly higher tempo/work ball into box/play out of defense/counter/counter-press/normal high line /slightly more press with instructions on attackers and wingbacks to press more and for ppl to shoot less) - its more about the player roles / instructions / traits and how they interact with one another in possesion, during early build up, late build up, when ur getting countered, when u settle into a defensive shape ! Made a longer comment on this vid with more description of how i use my team(lopsided , inside fwd support - f9 on other side with inverted wingback on attack who is my best player!)

    • @coachroan
      @coachroan  Год назад +4

      It's true, you are indeed risking the opposition wingers getting on the ball. The idea is to make sure that the high press prevents the ball from ever getting there. But no tactic is perfect, and the risk is definitely there. Great tactical eye!
