🌴 I’ve wanted one for years but they’re expensive, I found one today at a goodwill store for $35 dollars 😳 I’m really happy it got all the attachments and looks brand new! Can’t wait to start making bread and biscuits with it , I feel like a kid at Christmas 👊🏼👍🏼😊

The heat from the friction of the planetary gears and motor will cause the grease to heat up and break down over time causing separation of the food grade oil from the paraffin. The silver ring is designed to catch some of the oil as the grease separates due to heat and age. If you see oil seeping out and collecting around the base of the silver ring that means the ring is full and the grease needs to be replaced. Also, the grease will dry out and harden over time which will then no longer lubricate the gears. Depending on use, the old grease should be removed and the gears should be re-packed with fresh food grade grease every 3 to 5 years. If your mixer has the brass planetary gears and not the nylon gears, you can get away with stretching that out a little bit longer. However, the brass gears that are superior to the nylon gears are no longer available, so why wait and risk damage due to lack of lubrication.

They changed to nylon? What a bunch of cheap garbage in an expensive product. Their brand name will suffer with more brain dead decisions like these

I chipped my paddle attachment yesterday. Other than that, mine has been fantastic for almost a decade.

I bet if you contacted them, they would send you a new one. I also have had mine for a very long time.

KA has changed the coating on the paddle from what it was years ago. I have a 35 year old KA and the paddle and dough hook are coated with a tough nylon. They do not chip, but I've read lots of reports about the newer paddles chipping. It's like they're painted and not coated with the same substance of the old machines.
