After entering "Info" in the command prompt, it shows Status: Timeout .... I get that status all the time, and I can´t configure my AP with my NET App when being in different networks. What is going wrong in here?
You had asked a few months ago if we would pay for devices to come preconfigured with our HostiFi inform address already loaded. Is this still on the roadmap?
Yes, still trying to partner with a distributor to implement that. The feedback I received seemed to be that most people are going on-site to install the devices anyway so it wasn't needed usually.
I am using the Ap pro gen2 with a netgear Nighthawk RAX80, i set the factory defaults on it, and the Ap gets the IP via dhcp from the router. I installed the app on the phone to set the Ap up faster and all. All works fine and i can ssh in to it from anywhere in the house but the Controller software does not see the Ap. I tried adding it remote trough the app on the phone, it does not work. The chrome extension sees the Ap but unknow status and Action button does nothing. I got a unifi usg to but i gave up on it because of the same problems. Was working fine then i put it in the new network after reseting them to defaults and the controler does not see it and then can not manage anything and o god only problems with these. Not to mention that i had to edit the db with a custom known psw hash just to reset my forgoten credentials psw. Managing these is a nightmare.
Mine is when I'm trying to connect my phone to my ap ac lr is "obtaining IP address" I can't connect. Do you have any tutorial on this how to troubleshoot. Thanks
Two of our UAC-AC-Pro units display as 'Managed By Other'. Controller is running as Java app on PC. Info command at SSH states 'Server Reject'. Entering set-inform command to server address returns 'Adoption request sent to '[server-address]:8080/inform'. Use the controller to complete the adopt process.' However, no changes appear at controller, status is still 'Managed By Other'. Is there a command to reset for Adopt? Thank you
Just ran into this problem and had to set-default the AP's after SSH'ing. Once that completes they would show up in the controller and can SSH back into them with ubnt ubnt user and pass then set-inform worked no problem.
Brilliant video, I've got a network with a controller that has been lost and is unrecoverable, can I adopt a bunch of unifi devices without them being reprovisioned?
Hello weeRides, thanks for watching the video. If you know the device passwords for the UniFi devices, then getting them adopted to a new controller shouldn't be an issue. If you don't, then the process will unfortunately be harder. You'll likely need to reset the devices and start again. If you are interested, our support team can help you get a HostiFi controller up and running and then assist with the migration.
What if I cannot find the IP of a unifi 8 port switch? Using it already and it works like any other switch, however it doesn't show up anywhere. Not in the discovery tool and also not in any IP scanner. Even in the server lease table of the Mikrotik router, I can't find it.
If a UniFi device is unable to get DHCP it will use the default IP of 192.168.1.20 so you could try setting your PC to a static of 192.168.1.X and connecting to it from there to upgrade the firmware and then try again to see if it will get DHCP.
This saved me. Mongodb had a stale entry and removing it worked like a charm. Thank you for the help!
how to know Access point IP

This worked great! Loving Hostifi so far!
Can this be done on a cloudkey-Gen2-Plus ? If so how ? Thanks again
Can this process be use to adopt to different controller if it is already connected to existing controller? Or do I have to reset an AP?
You can set-inform on a different controller ip/hostname but if it gives any issue then eventually you will have to reset the device.

What about on a local host?
Thanks!
