Hooah! That is good to see that support for retirees and their spouses is available. Is there a significant population of vets who decide to live their retirement years in Germany? Are some of the retirees from government jobs that support the military (i.e. aafes, dod, dodea, commissary, etc...)? I found this video very interesting. Thank you.

Hey @rocktownship1766! It’s a pretty important date that not too many people know about, celebrated at all US Army Garrisons and many other Armed Forces bases. There are so many veterans that stayed here for their spouses and families. I used to think it was because of the beer, but it’s just a slower paced lifestyle here in Bavaria. All the retirees I know work and support from all the Federal jobs here. Some are even contractors, and they have families as well. The majority have bought homes here and many of their children go to German schools. They get the full package.

Let’s go, support Retirees!!!Great video!! Future DoD civilian in Graf, do you live in Weiden?
Is Weiden too far of a commute from the base, specially if there is snow? I am going long term, maybe a decade, do you know somebody that bought an apartment or a house in Weidem? I would like my kids to go to a German school if possible.

@luis2flr That’s awesome 👏 and thank you. Driving from Weiden to Graf should take no longer than 30 minutes - rain, snow, or shine. Driving to Vilseck, however, is a totally different story. That would take 45-50 minutes.
Unfortunately, I don’t know of any homeowners from the city of Weiden, but can only recommend that the suburbs, like most places, would give you more bang for your buck.
There’s plenty of schools, in the city, and neighboring towns, and villages, as well.

Sorry to ask you again, I saw your video driving your red mustang 👍
I don’t know what to do with the car situation , ship the pov but I’m gonna need another one we are a family of 4.
I saw another video in RUclips talking about bmw military sales dealers in base in which you do not pay sale tax….
BMW are not in my budget 😂, do you know if there are other dealers from VW or other brands more affordable that void sales tax for military?
Or what’s your advice. Thank you🙏
