- This was our first ride on the V2 version of the Ducati Multistrada, its the replacement for the 950 which was a great road adventure bike. How does it compare?
#ducati #adventurebike #multistrada
It's nice that more and more consumers, journalists and manufacturers are starting to realise that there is a lovely sweet spot between 100bhp and 120bhp which is just perfect for the real world and real roads.
Just picked my V2S Saturday first thoughts at 150 miles ! Awesome ride, plenty of power despite running in at under 5/6000 rpm . Big Thank you to Ducati Worcester!
I think the suspension is what screams out amazing. It’s really top notch. I’ve used my wire wheel 950S on all types of road and it’s a great all rounder with good fuel economy and comfort. As much as I’d like a Desert X the Multistrada is the better bike.
Hi Stephen. I ride mostly on fairly bumpy roads. What is the ride quality like on a bumpy road ?
@@butchcassidy9125 well it's a darn sight better than most road bikes. It's adaptive to your terrain and the settings you input. If you are doing rough off road it's a bit heavy and the standard tyres struggle a bit.
@@stephenhadley2490 Thanks for that Stephen. Sounds good.
Where do you feel it beats the Dessert X?
@@Michael-Masi-2021 the Desert X is pretty good, I've ridden one. It feels a lot like my tenere 700 but higher spec. I think the multistrada is smoother and it's got more stuff like cornering lights and hill hold and electric suspension but I definitely wouldn't take the multistrada off road. Only on dirt roads
I’ve had a lot of bikes, bought the 950S last year. This, after riding the 1260 for several days. The 950 motor is perfect for road riding, the 1260 was a little lumpy at low speeds during commuting.
You’re not scare of the wet or the white line 😱 awesome. Great roads and bike.
Yeah he really sends it doesn't he? A very quick and skilled rider, the GSXS 1000 review has him riding out a wheelie while pointing at the camera with his clutch hand, fearless.
Took one out for a test recently.... It really does a good bit of everything & has character. Which is something many bikes are lacking these days.
I find my 950 S near perfect, so to anyone who's interested in that kind of bike: I heartily recommend a test ride. What I also can attest to is how confidence inspiring it is. Everything plays well together without it ever being boring.
I’m very interested in this bike too, but am concerned cause I’m 6 foot 5
@@chrishill2678 Don't think it would be a problem and there's always the high seat option. However, you're probably going to want a different wind shield (stock one was very noisy for me).
@@chrishill2678 so am I and it is a near perfect bike for me.
You are going to need another screen though (I went with puig touring, looks shite but works well).
After two GSs and my present GSA I fancy something lighter and more road oriented, test riding one this week after reading a lot of positive reviews and my friend loves his 950S, it’s predecessor.
That's a nice piece of kit.
Probably the first Multistrada I would consider owning.
Definitely the best looking.
Great review, Chris! 👨
I love my 2018 950MTS, set up for enduro, it can scare me on the road. It's fast, and yes some faster. But it kicks it good. Best bike I ever owned. Great reviews, your excellent with the reviews.
One of the things I like about my Monster S4RS is it’s great throttle control and linearity. It feels like you can dial up 1 hp at a time as you open up coming out of a turn. Mind you it’s a 2007 model with effectively a 999 engine and doesn’t need to meet euro5
For those wondering, the lights behind the switches are backlights behind the none opaque switches. So if anything, they simply show slithers of light around the buttons, so you still can't make out shit in the dark. Just that the handlebars looks like a boring disco.
Great work, I just think you guys are nailing everything about these reviews and the delivery . Great work folks
So much praise for the Skyhook Suspension, but if you are north of 200 lbs., it is drastically under sprung and out of it's depth. This, in it's self is not the problem. The problem is that there is no aftermarket or factory support to rework the suspension if you plan to carry a passenger, heavy luggage, or you are a bigger person. I've been trying to find a solution for the better part of a year, for my 2020 950S Spoked model. Otherwise, it's brilliant! I just wish it had a bit more off road prowess. I suppose this is why Chris made no mention of taking it on a dirt road...
Rode three Ducati’s at SMC Sheffields demo day and the V2 S was first.
Having ridden my Honda CBR650R up there despite more power (slightly) and huge all day comfort etc I was left a bit underwhelmed and not excited by this bike!
Wouldn’t swap the Honda for this. The next bike the Panigale V2 however…. What a machine, what a weapon!
Even the dealer mistakenly handing me the bike in Race mode (didn’t get the time to run through the menus till I was riding and noticed) what a weapon but what a gorgeous thing!
Still loving my Honda but may have to save up and buy a second hand Panigale V2 as my next bike!
I am (my back) too old for a panigale. I am undecided between the supersport 950S and the multi V2S.
Interesting observation about the engine characteristics, especially considering the 3 cylinder competition from Yamaha, Triumph & MV. The looks and the sunken riding position are what turns me off what would otherwise be a serious consideration for my next bike. And a low mileage 950S would be far better value.
Yes Thank God I will buy one for myself
love this guy....always a good review.
Amazing review as always! Can we have Suzuki GSX1000 GT vs Ninja 1000 SX Mr. Chris and team? The old sport-touring genre is back from the dead 😍
MCN did one, and I think bike world can do better.
@@lovelessissimo Chris could easily do a better review than the mcn one which was average at best
@@michaelhart5886 I think so too. Let's hope they make one. 😅
Really? It was AMAZING?
@@michaelhart5886 He has done one with the Ninja 1000sx something about “winter riding” theme and I found his riding even more impressive than on this vid. I really like the V2S, haven’t tried one yet but coming from a very silky inline 4, (Ninja 1000sx, not difficult to guess), I fear that the L2 of the MS is too “characterful” for my liking
Excellent vid Mr N. Nearly spilled my cuppa with you centre stand demo.
I think your comment on the V2S not giving what you ask for out of the throttle is very subjective. Prior to owning my Multi V2S I owned a Streetfighter V4S, Pikes Peak V4 and Diavel V4. Granted the V4 has a substantial more amount of HP, I never feel like the throttle isn't giving me enough on the V2. Plenty of power and torque in every gear IMO. The V2 is thinner and lighter than the Pikes Peak and turns in easier as well. For me this bike does everything well, including some off road fire trails. I added the spoked wheels to make it a little more off road capable.
Just listening to chris voice, makes my day.
I am tempted by one of these. Its either this or an R1250RS as my next bike. Had a very bad experience years ago with poor reliability on a Ducati, which still puts me off to this day.
I had a 2019 950 and loved it. Bought a R1250RS Sport, great bike but I’m selling it after 3 months and going back to the V2S this time, they’re fantastic.
@@petermcgarva7207 why
@@beverleynorth4914 the Ducati was a lot easier to ride just about everywhere . The weight of the R1250RS was just too much for everyday riding.
Reliability for both bikes will be fine, servicing is 15k kms on Ducati and 10k kms for the BMW, so costs pretty much even out.
@@petermcgarva7207 cheers
Excellent review. I think I’ll like how you sit “in” the bike and not on it.
Feel lucky to live within 5 miles of these roads 👌
loving the woolly hat
Loved your review
Fifty years I’ve been riding and, until I watched this, I never knew the hand sign for center stand. That said, not sure I want to know the hand sign for “side stand’s down” . . .
Great review. Very informative. Did you find the lack of throttle response, connection to the engine etc in all modes including sport mode?
Love your tests
I think I just fell in love lol. 😂
Give the cameraman a raise
Great looking bike!
Nice vid up the moors where I live
Considering as next bike but heard in city and traffic on small revs jumps a lot and is not smooth, does not like lower revs...
OK Chris do you pick the Ducati or the BMW GS for combination twisties and touring? Love your riding. Thanks Mark.
can you tell in which ride mode/suspension settings you were riding? looks brilliant and very sporty :)
Whereabouts in Wales was the video shot
Speaking as a short-arse who's been frustrated forever at the lack of adjustability in seat heights, could I make a request? When talking about seat heights and accessibility, could you find a local amenable SA and sit him/her on the bike so we can get a proper sense of the fit? Ta.
I do like these, but I can't unsee Sam the Eagle from The Muppets
@bikeworld Can you add comparative comments since you have ridden both: V2 S vs. SS 950 S... Thanks.
I really hope I never end up owning a bike with a centre stand but at 43 years old I guess those days are coming soon.
Yep, it’s coming. And you’ll love it!
2023 Yamaha Tracer GT+ with adaptive cruise control seems like a better deal no?
Great review, short and sweet!
What's the riders height? Can he flat foot this bike?
I’m 5ft 9, 32 inch inseam, and ride a DR650 with 885 mm seat height. Unless you’re REALLY height compromised, you’ll be fine.
Easy install!
Integrating the indicators into the hand guards just seems unnecessarily vulnerable to damage to me, but I guess it’s aimed at on road use so you shouldn’t drop it…..?
1st time see8ng mr neely selling a bike lol... center stand top! Kkkkk
Hi, I was wondering if it is comparable to an MV Agusta Tourismo Veloce Lusso 800 SCS? Would you even consider reviewing one? Thanks 🙂
This is my first road ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and I have taken it out a handful of times and so far it is exceeding all of my expectations. I didn’t want to break the bank on a first bike and the herd is a great option for getting a fast bike with reliable components. I plan on riding this bike for many years to come. Thank you Sava!
Which would you choose between a MT 09 tracer GT and the Multistrada v2s? (Money not being an issue)
That's pretty obvious isn't it? Money not an issue, it would be the MTS.
@@ferociousfrankie Well not really. There is other factors that come into play. Reliability, egine preference, looks, comfort and more.
please review seat height n riding position
Thanks.Servicing the Desmo cost ?
How about this vs the V4S or an older 950 Multi?
Want.
Was getting ready to pull the trigger on one, but even if Ducati has greatly improved their maintenance schedule I felt like I was riding too much to own a Ducati, it would mean for me almost 1 valve adjustment per season.
Ufffff 👍
Nice 🔥🔥
👍👍👍👍
This ‘disconnect’ of the throttle, can it be solved with an ecu flash?
I wonder if it's a new issue for the V2, as they made the engine smoother at lower revs compared to my 2021 950. And I don't feel a disconnect in the throttle. I had an XSR 900 with a very sensitive throttle before the MTS, so I think I would have noticed.
Is it 5 k better than tiger 850?
Jack of all trades, master of none.
Not enough to swap mu multistrada 950 in for.
First time seeing this guys’ reviews; he can ride like f**k !
1290 SAS is better value. Cheaper with all the features mentioned here plus adaptive cruise control, more power and torque.
And you also get consistent electronic issues
But it’s ugly
How much dismantling you did on the 350
A lot, vid coming soon.
That thing looks straight up like an angry bird - don’t know whether laugh or puke at it’s looks. Haha
I’ll just take the Yamaha tracer 9gt
A lot more dealerships and mechanics around for support if needed
the screen should be 50% bigger
На мотоцикл приятно смотреть когда он стоит на месте или ехать на нём. А что толку наблюдать издали ничего не видно и не слышно когда это люди поймут?
No interest in a 19 inch wheel on the road. The earlier Multis got it right.
I like the 17s on my 2015 !!!! Rode 240 miles today for lunch!!🏍🏍🏍🏍😀😀😀🍺🍺🍺🍺
You literally cannot tell it's on a 19" front, if you had to ride the bike "blindfolded" so to speak. And there are plenty of tyre choices in 120/70-19.
I thought the same as you, so much so that I modified my own Multi 950 to a 17" front! Yes it did turn faster, but it was also so twitchy and nervous to the point it was irritating, so I went back to the original rim.
Great bike but for £1200 you get brilliant tracer9 gt
Yes and no maintenance concerns.
Meh, not in the same league. I looked at both last year. The Yamaha’s okay but the multi has better fit/finish, better brakes, suspension, luggage, dash…I could go on. If you’re looking to save a few bucks buy the Yamaha. If you want a bette bike, buy the Ducati. 10K kms on mine without a single issue. Lovely bike.
@@jonasbaine3538 I've ridden both. The Multistrada is more expensive, but it's objectively a better bike dynamically. There's really no comparison. Skyhook is truly some interesting technology.
At 1:11 those exhaust headers already look rusty …
It just looks so odd. The side profile design doesn’t look right. Direct front looks good.
Hum again first, 🙂
That says something 🤣
@@andrewharris3380 what are you insinuating, that am jobless or become one in future for spending so much time here 😀
@@accessadi I suggest you lack imagination and seek recognition and encouragement for nominal acts. That probably stem from a lack of self confidence.
@@andrewharris3380 whow... And I thought Freud died long ago.
