alentejo is a rough land; one must have good gardening background, wit and backbone. it is not for the faint-hearted.
the food from alentejo is also the most creative of all portugal. they can do 100 recipes of 2-3 ingredients.
    stay strong. 🤠😎

Love seeing Jon’s enthusiasm and stylus maximus. Can’t wait to see how it holds up over the winter and to see what you plant in the swales ☺️✨🌸☔️

You should build an 'A' frame and build your swale on a contour. Watch Matt Powers and especially Geoff Lawton on how this swale, berm construction is implemented on your land. Good luck and great attempt at giving the basics of this structure.

Thanks for your comment:) yes, we did build a small A frame and used it to do these mini swales on contour. We should have shown that part. In our next vídeo about the bigger swales we plan to build, we will definitely show the whole process. Jon followed Geoff Lawton's PDC & felt he is such an inspiration. We do not know Matt Powers, we'll look into that. Thanks!

Hi 🙋🏽‍♀️ love the ideas that you have and starting with mini swales is the way to go in my opinion. Would it work if you make it more diagonal so one swale can feed the next one 🤓 in a zigzag fashion? Love Alentejo ❤ boa sorte

Thanks for your comment and I see your thought process with the zig zag fashion:) What we expect is that the overflow of one will feed the next one, but if we were making them diagonal, and not right on contour, the water could not stop and sink in, which is what we’re hoping for so we can plant in them:) Does that make sense? Obrigada!

Have you watched the Weedy Gardener in Australia when he dug his swales.
