I like how streamlined some of the videos are especially like these, but I love when you or Tim go into a tangent on anything so we can see into your mind set Thanks for all the content # TB4LIFE
Matt I can tell you for certain that I’ve revived 2largemouth/Black/Bass from a small 3000 acre in northern Louisiana...,while floating on their side literally chocking on blue gill /chiqipinnn,,, regarding how bass don’t “like “ to eat bream. You and Tim are the best ever. Because y’all don’t lie!!
So true about the Light Trout and the Oikawa Mesu colors. Light trout has proven itself to me over and over. The short time I've been tossing the Arashi in Oikawa Mesu it has produced.
Hey Matt thanks for this buyer's guide thank God I left my wife now I can buy all this recommendations I still waiting for dirtyjigs swim head the finesse one 3/8 at tackle warehouse they are out of stock but man since I followed you guys I became way much better angler
Glad to see you discovered the gantarel. Fished the gigantarel this summer and fell in love with it. Anyone who's interested should hit up ebay. The gantarel jr, gantarel and gigantarel are always up for auction and usually sell for half price.
Yes! Thank you guys so much for doing one of these videos. I just got into big swimbaits and bought myself a setup and I am now looking to buy some swimbaits. I lost my R2S glide bait to a big fish when I first used it and I now only have a 8 inch Huddleston. You guys are so dedicated to fishing and your channel. Keep up your good work.
Caught my PB on a Bull Shad 4x4 and the exact budget friendly combo and braid you recommended here (and in prior videos), all thanks to your recommendations!
Hey Matt and Tim, thanks for all you knowledge sharing 👌 Can I suggest a video on how to actually throw the swimbaits? I recall Matt said something in a video years ago, but you have so many of them... I mean the real action of casting them, how to keep the arms, how much slack line to leave, all those technical details that at the end of the day will leave you less fatigued etc. Thanks again from a newbie swimbait fisherman from Italy! 😁
By the way, I absolutely love my Fury 806!!! I alwayshave a, Spro50, Pats, on 9 inch Slammer ALWAYS on deck! Those 3 baits have been crushing it for me!!
You guys keep me informed on everything to do with fishing. Im just getting into the swimbait game and it's nice to know I have 4 out of the 8 you showed. Another great vid!
I've been throwing Scotsboro swimbaits for several years. It's my go to soft swimbait. You mentioned the 6in but they are all great. The 3 and 4in. are absolutely the deal for smallmouth and on an Arig. Alot of guys sleep on the small Scotsboro baits but they catch big ens in the cold water.
What hooks and split rings would you put on the gantarel jr? I landed a couple good fish with it my first day but had quite a few that hooked up and then came off. The hooks don’t feel that sharp as some of my other crankbaits etc.. Keep pumping the videos!! Love them!
Can confirm g Loomis glx and shimano expride didn’t show up as 20% off on my initial order but when I got the electronic recipe 20% had been taken off both
Nice video! Finally you've been talking about the Gantarel. Try the Gantarel Jr.! You'll catch more fish on it and I know about people who catch larger bass on the Jr than the regular Gantarel. The Jr is my favorite.
Thank you so much for the info it was VERY valuable in my lack of knowledge about swim baits. I pond fish and have been catching 7 and 8s . We took LoJo out to a pond and he put on one of the glide baits that you were describing and after a few cast hooked up on a 8 plus. Im thinking that this will put me in a better spot to start hitting larger fish seeing as how the 10 pound plus have been so evasive. Thank you so much again for the video and Real Bend fishing wishes you and yours a Blesses Holiday Season .
Thanks for sharing all these content, this week has been awesome. I just got the Osprey, trash fish, s-waver and Gantarel from TW. Cant wait for spring!!
I use Large Swim Baits on 12 lb Fluorocarbon w/7' med action rod .But my line snaps ,losing my baits.Do I need stronger line and should I use longer pole like 9' ? Gr8t Stuff as always !!Thanks My Brother
Matt and Tim, in this video you recommend the Loomis 966 but in Your other Swimbait videos you recommend the dobyns for throwing hudds. Has your opinion changed since that time? I was looking to get a rod for 7.8” keitechs, 8” hudds, and would like to be able to graduate to a 12” hudd someday. Will the 966 be a good choice for a 12” hudd? Does the dobyns have the advantage only once you’re throwing the 12” hudd? Finally, I know y’all have tinkered with the Megabass lineup, how’s the leviathans and onager stack up to the other rods, do they have any advantages or disadvantages and are they capable of throwing everything, I want a do all rod or close to it.
You learned the hard way Matt! Texas bass love the BG! Really looking forward to the creature bait/ big worm video to see your favorites. I am huge believer in big worms = bigger bass. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Another great video. Keep them coming.
Thanks so much Matt! This was important as I am trying to get rods that are more technique specific rather than do it all rods. Looking forward to tomorrow isn’t videos as I throw a lot of creature baits (beaver styles) and worms for the CA Delta
Great video as always. Still trying to get my confidence up with these big baits. Any love for the Megabass Magdraft? I’m pretty new to bigger swimbaits but I’ve caught several on the 6” magdraft already
Hi matt and allen I just wanna ask what kind of snap swivel do you guys use for throwing 6-8inch swimbait I think I saw it in one of your videos. Thank you
This comment is a little late and maybe you have covered it in another video but I haven't been subscribed long and just had a quick question. I recently bought a swimbait that I believe(lure is in the mail still) has a single treble hook pre-rigged in a line through manner and you can rig the hook on the back of the lure instead of below the lure which I thought would be potentially helpful because I fish around a lot of weeds. My question is what are your thoughts on the single treble hook rigged on the back of an 8" bait? Will I be able to maintain a decent hook up ratio?
Just finished purchasing an NRX 853C with an Aldebaran an NRX 852S with a Daiwa Exist and a Dobyn’s Champion Extreme 746 with a Shimano Bantam and now I want to get more tackle 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂
Alexander Wlad your gonna have some awesome gear for 2020 I pulled the trigger yesterday on a ritual angling Swimbait rod r-11 series This will be my first year of really trying to throw Swimbaits
I don’t throw real big swimbaits, my primary lakes here in NC are full of spotted bass, not mammoth largemouth. I do throw 3.8 Keitechs and some larger soft baits. Also have a couple of small/medium glides. Was considering getting the Dobyns rod, but after you said they don’t excel at the jig hooks baits I don’t think I need it. What’s another “do everything rod” that will handle them if I choose to throw them but will also excel at the smaller baits and some other applications? I know this is a broad question, but want to see if you have a suggestion. I currently use a Abu Veritas in med/hvy. It’s ok, but feels like a pool cue.
I personally don't like the s waver because everyone has one I've seen and at least for me I don't have confidence in it. But if I started throwing it I'd probably catch some fish because of how in expensive it is. I'd throw that s waver 200 everywhere in my San Diego waters cus the only people I see throw it are the guys that are newer to swimbaits. Not to many seasoned swimbaiters throw it I've seen most of the people down here throw the taxi trouts, 250s, Hinkle trouts/shads. It would be sick if you made a big big swimbait video with the more expensive baits out there. Great vid G🙏🏼🤘🏼
What you're seeing is guys throwing open water glides because of your crystal clear water and likelihood that your fish are suspended under the boat docks or sitting deep on the points (We fish your waters periodically) However, in spring when your fish are tight to cover a guy could smash with an S waver and no one is doing it.
@@tacticalbassin true but mostly I fish trees with open water glides and work it into the tree and out and yes some glides are better than others for cover but if you know what your doing you can get some true giants doing that because most people aren't comfortable about putting those big open water glides inside trees and yes like you said most of our lakes are clear and most people fish them the way you said. And that s waver could be a killer open water glide just because it's an action that the fish don't see in our waters some times I completely reverse what you say and in certain situations it gets a crazy reaction out of our fish I've fish clear lake before for a few days and I've got fish on your hudd retrieves but when I work it like I do down here i didn't get bit. What I'm trying to say is every body of water is different. And I know you guys have been all over the country smashing em on your techniques. And your vids are for people all over the country I'm assuming so I know that your techniques are affective it's just my style of fishing except you hudd the techniques.
Ik im very late but what rod power/action for the last bluegill hard swimbait?would love an answer because im going to start throwing swim baits more, thanks👍
Im in South Fl. I just started throwing smaller swimbaits( gantarel jr, vatallion, magdraft 5-6” . I will be targeting big Peacock Bass and Large mouth Bass. What Shimano expride rod will do for this technique? I will be fishing from the shore. Thanks.
The hook up on the jackall has been amazing but my swaver 168 I keep losing them after a shake. Do you recommend I replace them? I feel like the hooks are way too thick to penetrate good on my dobs fury 795 but maybe I’m just settling the hook wrong.
Hey Matt, I would hate to lose my Huddleston when bank fishing if it gets hung up on a branch or log etc. any advice? Can the Huddleston be used with the shimano curado dc reel?
Curious as to why you suggest a smaller hook for the 168 S-Waver, the website does say Size 2, but the boxes says Size 1, and after comparing, they are definitely larger than the size 2. Thanks
keitechs have always been my go-to swimbait especially once I discovered the A-rig. Do you consider a zoom SuperFluke a swimbait or a soft jerkbait? I love that bait
can you guys do a review on the new mega bass big m 7.5 ? along with the proper equipment set up. curious to what you guys think about it. especially on a lake like clearlake.
I'm just getting into swimbait fishing and ordered a dobyns fury 795. Would I be able to fish a 8" Huddleston/S-waver on that rod or should I return it and go with a 806H?
The G Ratt Sneaky Pete is great for fast retrieve. We've also caught a ton of big peacocks on S Waver 168s. S waver: bit.ly/2aiu8Sh G ratt Sneaky Pete: bit.ly/2RYCPFe
Baitsanity Version 2 tails are so much more durable. Lots of warmer water folks loving the new tail down here. TW $103 for those Fury’s ends today! Ever consider talking about electronics?
I changed the hooks on the Arashi to the ST 1/0 hook recommended by you guys and it seem to be too big on the bait. The back hook will hook on the the back of the tail part. Was wonder if you guys meant the size 1 on the Arashi?
What happened to the Dowzsimmer 220? You said you were going to do a review last year but it never came. As far as i can tell it's the same as the Giganteral except it has the slimmer profile like you always suggest.
I run a dobyns fury 7,3 heavy for my swim baits but I dont throw those huge baits the biggest thing I'll throw is a s waver or 6.8 but it's a work horse
Have u ever used the spike it color c lector ? LOL came across one for a job we did going to try it out this week . You guys always hammer the best big bass so probably just experienced
Picked up the Arashi Glide yesterday before a muskie trip. Swam/Glide was decent on a 75lbs test 7 strain wire leader (no catches, on anything, though 😥)
Wrestlingflow pretty late but if you’re still looking to know in my experience I can throw anything up to a deps 250 on my dobyns 807 treble hooks or jig hooks it doesn’t matter.
I order 3 ROF 5 Hud 8 inch and i ⚠️Finally⚠️ broke my Savage Gear Browser (not while fishing) so i upgraded to a 5oz rated Shimano Curado 8ft XH lol it’s a meat stick but it’s on sale right now for 99 bucks on TDub
How is the IMX Pro 966 with baits in the 2-3 oz range? I currently use a DC806 and I’m looking to pick up a second rod. I mostly use treble hooked baits around 2.5oz, but I feel the 806 is limited when it’s comes to baits in the 4-5oz range, regardless the 2-6oz rating.
maybe you can help me i see shimano has resized the tranx reels i have been using the original 400 in the delta live lining split tails and throwing glide baits for stripers the 400 to me is a bit of overkill for my glide baits. i have been planing on the 300 for some time for glide baits . do you think the smaller resized 300 would be to light for very large stripers . my biggest was 36 lb on the 400 and it was almost to easy . i do like a smaller profile for comfort . your thoughts would be appreciated thanks!
My biggest on the 300 is a 38 lber... you're going to be just fine 👍 Its almost like a big bass reel instead of a large swimbait reel... super comfortable but incredibly powerful.
It could be enough for the 6", the 8" is going to destroy the gears in that reel. We've done it over and over again... its best to get a proper swimbait reel.
Hello guys! I have a question im trying yo get the Shimano zodias here in Spain and the only model can found its the 6'10" mh for about 150$ should i take It??
Matt, Tim, your dedication to us is so appreciated
I was doing great at not buying anything for black friday and then I woke up to this video. 150$ in swimbait later.... I'm not even mad. Thank you!
Ha! We're happy to help! Enjoy the new baits!!

I have learned more from tacticalbassin than any other fishing channel out there. Thanks guys.
With all the content, this last week has been like a Tactical dream world interrupted only by a day of binging turkey dinner. 🙏🏼
I don't think you could of made it any more simple, and affordable, Incredible job Matt, thank you 👊👊👍

Caught some studs on the Gantarel Jr in ponds
Trey Ferguson just got a full size. We will see how she does this year
Another buyer's guide... just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in !
Ha! We're here to help 👍
New bait.
I put a skirt of a jig on a bullet weight no bobber stop Texas rig any lure. The skirt action. Does the job. It just works

I’m very impressed with the action on the Baitsanity Explorer and the Arashi. And def change out the hardware, especially on the arashi.
After yesterday, my wife said I'm no longer allowed to watch buyers guide videos.

Justin Hawkins you need to pump those numbers UP those are rookie numbers
lol that my friend is a comment i’ve made multiple times, which is why i got airpods and watch them at 2am while she’s sleeping lol

Can y’all do a review on the googan baits or at least on the saucy swimmer Swim bait that they have? Y’alls insights on everything is truly amazing!
You guys keep me informed on everything to do with fishing. Im just getting into the swimbait game and it's nice to know I have 4 out of the 8 you showed. Another great vid!
Looks like you're on the right path!! We're happy to help.

There’s so many rod types to choose from for the budget friendly rod. Which do I pick? The heavy swimbait?
Thanks for sharing all these content, this week has been awesome. I just got the Osprey, trash fish, s-waver and Gantarel from TW. Cant wait for spring!!
Awesome!! We're just happy to help!
Nice baits I've caught a 3 pound tilapia on the s-waver 168 so he's right about the mixed species
Is it normally better to throw big swimbaits before and during a front? Can you do well on them under high pressure conditions/ blue bird skys etc
Tim is the most subtle dipper on youtube 😂
Jesse Troxell he dips? Didn’t even notice.
And he packs fat ones
I use Large Swim Baits on 12 lb Fluorocarbon w/7' med action rod .But my line snaps ,losing my baits.Do I need stronger line and should I use longer pole like 9' ? Gr8t Stuff as always !!Thanks My Brother
Matt and Tim, in this video you recommend the Loomis 966 but in Your other Swimbait videos you recommend the dobyns for throwing hudds. Has your opinion changed since that time? Those Scottsboro swimbaits are killer man they have came threw for me several times for a kicker fish on tournament day
Can the dobyns fury 806 throw the baitsanity or an 8 inch hud? or are those a bit too heavy for it?
I think you could get away with it but it’s not ideal. I was wondering about trying a 250 but that might be pushing it

Hey Matt, you guys ever tried the savage gear 3D Shine Glider? Amazing action and same price as the S-Waver with great colors.
I have a Champion XP 7'6 MH that I use for deep cranking, would it work well throwing the smaller S-Wavers on it?

I needed this video thanks Matt 👍
Have u ever used the spike it color c lector ? LOL came across one for a job we did going to try it out this week . You guys always hammer the best big bass so probably just experienced
😂 Yes, we had one when I was a kid. Not the most accurate but plenty of fun.
Guna try the Neko with tilapia magic
Picked up the Arashi Glide yesterday before a muskie trip. Swam/Glide was decent on a 75lbs test 7 strain wire leader (no catches, on anything, though 😥)
I was tempted by the Arashi, would you reccomend it? For musky fishing, that is.
So if i order the ROF 5 Huddleston 8 inch does it come with a jig hook?
The ROF 5 comes in standard and jig hook, the one linked in the video description is the jig hooked version.
You’ll need to pick up some jrp swimbaits . Killin it in the bay right now
Hey do you select the ( swimbait ) selection when buying the rod?
Wrestlingflow pretty late but if you’re still looking to know in my experience I can throw anything up to a deps 250 on my dobyns 807 treble hooks or jig hooks it doesn’t matter.
I order 3 ROF 5 Hud 8 inch and i ⚠️Finally⚠️ broke my Savage Gear Browser (not while fishing) so i upgraded to a 5oz rated Shimano Curado 8ft XH lol it’s a meat stick but it’s on sale right now for 99 bucks on TDub
Whats a budget friendly jig hook rod?
What are your thoughts on the Duckett BD Glide?
How is the IMX Pro 966 with baits in the 2-3 oz range? I currently use a DC806 and I’m looking to pick up a second rod. I mostly use treble hooked baits around 2.5oz, but I feel the 806 is limited when it’s comes to baits in the 4-5oz range, regardless the 2-6oz rating.
The 966 is perfect, its range is really amazing.
TacticalBassin thank you! 966 is it!
maybe you can help me i see shimano has resized the tranx reels i have been using the original 400 in the delta live lining split tails and throwing glide baits for stripers the 400 to me is a bit of overkill for my glide baits. i have been planing on the 300 for some time for glide baits . do you think the smaller resized 300 would be to light for very large stripers . my biggest was 36 lb on the 400 and it was almost to easy . i do like a smaller profile for comfort . your thoughts would be appreciated thanks!
My biggest on the 300 is a 38 lber... you're going to be just fine 👍 Its almost like a big bass reel instead of a large swimbait reel... super comfortable but incredibly powerful.
Do you use split rings for the swaver (where you tie your line to the glide bait) ?
No, just tie direct.
Another question. I’m thinking of pairing the Fury swimbait rod with a Lew’s BB1 that i already own. Is this enough reel for a 6” or 8” HUD?
It could be enough for the 6", the 8" is going to destroy the gears in that reel. We've done it over and over again... its best to get a proper swimbait reel.
Great info! Thanks! New reel here I come!
Hello guys! I have a question im trying yo get the Shimano zodias here in Spain and the only model can found its the 6'10" mh for about 150$ should i take It??
Yes, that is a nice rod.
Can someone please recommend the best bigger (7-9") full body soft baits that are good for slow rolling along bottom in 20-30ft of water?
Can you suggest a smaller profile reel to pair with the Dobyns Fury at a similar price point please?
Not for swimbait fishing 😔 The budget has to go wayyyy up to get to a reliable low profile big bait reel.
how dose the G Loomis IMX Pro 966 go with other types of lures?
