bloody brilliant aircraft one of my favs from the WWII era,i just learnt this week it was recovered for restoration not far from where i live in Riwaka motueka many years ago 🙂
Such a wonderful aircraft - I enjoyed seeing it! It appears they are looking after the newly built engines (not running high boost & rpm), which is fair enough!
Yes it was beautiful in the air and on the ground. Sounded amazing. Very kind that the US owner let us see it in action. Hopefully there will be one flying in New Zealand air shows regularly in the future 🤞

Next Warbirds Over Wanaka will be in 2026, but there will be the Classic Fighters Omaka air show next year. They have a Mosquito there, but it doesn't fly. It gets towed outside for engine runs and at CFO 2023 the fans were eight or nine deep along the fence each time. The Omaka Mosquito was stored in the same shed for seventy years as the restored P51 at WOW this year.

Why oh why can’t these airshow commentators learn to SHUT UP when the aircraft is in close proximity?
They actually sound louder in the videos than on the day. When the aircraft are flying by the engine noise is quite clear for the spectators.
