I just heard about owen Moore today on the radio a documentary on his family who emigrated to America in 1896. They are building a statue of him in Kells.
interesting that his mistress is Lottie Pickford, Mary's sister, who was fifteen when this was made, but looked years older. She seemed to play adult roles when joining her sister aged 13 two years previous. Young girls playing adult roles seemed to be quite common at this time.
Mary and Owen were married. Mary met Douglas Fairbanks. They started an affair. Douglas gave Mary an ultimatum to divorce Owen. She did but somehow they were still married. They married in Mexico. The studio tried to keep their marriage secret. But their fans found out. The fans liked them being married. Finally a few years later Mary got a divorce. It was finalized in l think 1922 if I'm not mistaken. I don't understand what she saw in Douglas 🤣 Owen was much more handsome and taller. He had years of alcoholism. But he die of a heat attack in 1939
Their relationship also lasted much longer than the one with Owen; with Fairbanks, she was with him for 16 years and even helped him with the creation of United Artists alongside D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin. With Owen, they were together for a mere 9 years where he abused alcohol and would eventually become violent with outbursts at her.
Thank you for this beautiful glimpse into the past..

nice movie.good work.
A lot of the early silent movies show the evils of drink. You can see that there was a notion that this was a problem that led to prohibition.

Mary Pickford was born in 1892.... So she would have been 18 here.
The actor in the top hat is the well known actor, director and producer William Robert Daly, in an early film role.
Owen Moore was Mary pickford's first husband in real life.
En todas las epocas habian patanes como el personaje de esta pelicula Muda de 1911.

Fairbanks was the action hero of the silent screen, who by all accounts did his own stunts & was very fit, so I can understand why she fell for him.
