I’d like to clarify that you should still be using WoG a fair amount in M+. Yes you want to use a lot of SotR but WoG is still a good spot heal if you don’t have an infusion proc or you can’t stand still to cast flash. Also yes I’m just as depressed about the state of hpal as you all are 😭
You will go oom in like 3 minutes if you try to play like last season and ignore flash or infusions. I have done extensive testing on every build which includes builds that don’t play around infusion or inflo and they just aren’t viable or even good right now. If you have some logs or vods of a build you ran that you think works better I’d be down to check it out and we can chat about the pros and cons of each, I’ll even be down to run it in a key today on stream

I have 3 healed mythic Sarkereth, and if I retroactively applied every single one of these nerfs to my logs I still would have been mana positive. My hps would have been lower, obviously because of the nerfs, but are you forgetting the fact that paladins provide consistent DR to your raid at all times, and that DR has an hps value that just isn't assigned to the hpal by warcraftlogs.
Awesome rework with amazing playstyle/flow and they decide to butcher it just a few month after. FoL somehow became our new "spender" and infusion proccs our "main" resource does not feel right. The fact that i want (or being somewhat forced) to use a procc over my class resource to pop a heal.. well, makes me question the current choice of class design. We died for the sins of augmentation. Shiiiet. The raid playstyle is basically the closest we've been to the mongrel that we were pre glimmer in s1 bfa.
So in a nutshell, Blizzard took probably the best single spec rework they've done and butchered it into a slightly more complicated Holy Priest. Man, this is disappointing.
One note re: pushing keys early in the season when no one has ilvl and lacks tier, the M+ HPS demands are extremely high, and often very very bursty. Everbloom (back portion) and most of Throne of Tides demand serious throughput (often in my 18s something like 100-150k HPS on fort pulls, and some bosses demanding 100k-130k HPS (like last Ancient Protectors and Yalnu in Everbloom). Tyr's and Barrier of Faith are substantial tools. I often find, due to how bursty things are, using GCDs on SotR can be a major trap; you need to bank WoGs with 2x stacks of Blessing of Dawn.
I get the frustration but Hpal has very way overturned for so many patches since Shadowlands. As a mistweaver main who has not been meta ever since legion aside from two weeks during the end of bfa (and for all shamans too) I mean yeah you can't be completely broken all the time.

For years different communities have said the same old "Don't nerf X just buff everything else". This past season regarding Hpal and other healing specs I honestly think the healing community was correct.
I have been doing low keys on my holy pally to learn dungeon mechanics. I have been have no difficulties in healing. My mana gets low sometimes, yes. Hard casting really isn't that bad. You still have glimmer, WOG, and other tools to use. I mainly use IoL procs to top players off in combat or after a fight. I really enjoy the spec and lore of the class. You just have to take what you got and make it work.
I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but I generally like the idea behind the 10.2 changes. I agree that mana is a big issue and spenders need to be more impactful, absolutely, but I like introducing a reason to actually use holy light and flash of light. I was conflicted about whether to even have them on my bar for a long time, and I feel that they are staples of the holy paladin
I used flash occasionally in s1 and s2, but haven’t used holy light since I don’t even know when so I agree I like having to actually use my non spender healing spells lol
I just got back to the game and this holy paladin is hard to master. I can't manage to stay in melee range because i have to go out to use Infusion procs with Holy Light but it's slooooow. I liked the old play style where you just glimmer people and press WoG or LoD. Those spells now sucks and HL or FoL heal much more but you have to cast them.

Mother. Was excited for the hpal rework since i didnt play it at all when it went live. Was coming back in 10.2...and now Im met with these changes? Someone at Blizz really wants hpal to be a hardcaster. Looks like I missed the party. Usually I dismiss people being dramatic about how fun a class is based on its tuning, but there is a point where tuning can be so far off where it creates an incentive structure to play the class in a lame way (like not using spenders, wow). Hopefully they get things back on track through some patches.
sorry i dont get the point of not spending without dawn in the raid part. like should i just let holy power go to waste and overstack them by just using holy light or flash of light? i feel like this is burning mana even faster. and the spender still offer more heal manawise.

I am no expert but im healing 17/18 and I feel like healing is still fun and manageable on H Pal. We have to drink during keys which I wish that was better but I did ok. I used virtue for m+ which I didnt see mentioned here. It was burstinng week this week. There was tons to heal through and considering that I found it fun and doable.
is Divine Purpose still a good choice in raids if Holy Power is so low prioritiezed that we only want to use it on Dawn stacks? we'll basically never not have Holy Power to use with dawn stacks right?

Will the tier set be changing any of our playstyle further? As in how we apply glimmer? Also the patch notes are saying that Holy Prism got a 40% buff, was that not actually applied?
He already said it in the video, he said it was supposed to be buffed 40% but it didnt go live for some reason. It will most likely be fixed in the coming resets

Hello, can I ask a question please? I've noticed compared to other holy paladins that my light of dawn healing does a lot less healing in raids. I nearly always wait until I have 2 stacks of dawn but still it does hardly any healing. Could it be based purely down to the fact that my mastery is only at 29% which i know is low? I'm just finding that I'm always bottom of the healing meters with the other healers in my guild.
i barely use light of dawn tbh in raid, even if it is better then WoG numbers wise you barely see it on their health bars, with my 4 piece set i just focus on keeping glimmers out then use day break then divine toll and can heal the entire raid with that combo solo
I haven't seen other guides (wowhead or icey veins) change the build so much. Everyone still uses Tyr's Deliverance from what i saw. Are they out of date or what?
I can’t speak for the other guides and what they tested. I do know the guide writers personally though and I know that they mostly are raid focused players and usually don’t test a lot in m+.

This method seems insanely mana efficient. You have me a bit worried since you didn't mention Holy Light but with Resplendent Light being used in raid why would we not cast this spell? Yes it is slower than FOL but it gives 3 Holy Power instead of 1 and returns some mana. I'm aiming to only use Flash of Light in Dungeons/PVP
With the state of raid damage, by the time you cast holy light 3 of the other healers have already healed your target to full and it's on to the next one.
so i’m sure you’ve tested this, but reclamation not viable with all the mana issues? barrier is pretty brutal on mana iirc with barely a throughput edge on reclamation. thoughts?
In raid, reclamation unfortunately returns basically 0 mana in this build, I have tested that. And barrier is extremely strong for healing in raid so I def wouldn’t give that up
No such guide exists. Not one class has the resources outside of wowhead and icy veins that hpal does. You can take applicable tips and cross reference to your class/spec. Mechanics to use freedom can almost always be removed from yourself by shape shifting as a druid, tiger's lust as a monk, or vengeful retreat as a DH.
I'm frankly terrified of what hpal has become, but it's still a new thing to learn and master, maybe we'll get to like it (blizzard where's my raid damage i swear...)
came back after last playing first patch of shadowlands, this seems like a very disgusting playstyle shift. if i wanted to be hard casting holy/flash i'd be playing hpriest.
What a pity 😥 I really hope that in a couple of weeks the paladin will receive a buff. I love the paladin so much that I will still play it, as I have been doing for 10 years. But in this version it’s already some kind of holy priest with a bubble .
I still can't believe this went live in this state. I guess im a Disc priest now after being hpal for multiple expansions. We weren't always the strongest but the gameplay hasn't been this terrible in a long long time.
what a degenerate playstyle , I fell in love with hpal at the beginning of Shadowlands when i started to play wow and it was such a simple , yet beautiful spec , even after rework in DF i thought the spec was amazing , what they made it now is a total mess :( , I'm sad .

I don’t know where they are going with this play style but this is the worst I’ve ever seen holy paladin in a very long time. I think you are over blowing the buffs to flash and holy light, a massive buff to nothing is still nothing. And inflo is a bad talent.

It's 3 target base, and the talent provides up to 5 more targets.

It is still good just not great. I would drop it but there’s really nothing else to pick up that would be better

technically in raid you could be now since we oom using our meele lol. In m+ you need throughput so u need the meele abilities to gen Holy power.

came back after last playing first patch of shadowlands, this seems like a very disgusting playstyle shift. if i wanted to be hard casting holy/flash i'd be playing hpriest.
What a pity 😥 I really hope that in a couple of weeks the paladin will receive a buff. I love the paladin so much that I will still play it, as I have been doing for 10 years. But in this version it’s already some kind of holy priest with a bubble .
I don't know if you mentioned it but what about stats for m+ and raid?

I still can't believe this went live in this state. I guess im a Disc priest now after being hpal for multiple expansions. We weren't always the strongest but the gameplay hasn't been this terrible in a long long time.
Then I would want crit instead of my former haste poly build. And it makes me a sad panda.

what a degenerate playstyle , I fell in love with hpal at the beginning of Shadowlands when i started to play wow and it was such a simple , yet beautiful spec , even after rework in DF i thought the spec was amazing , what they made it now is a total mess :( , I'm sad .
I just holy as an offspec but this sounds way less interesting lol
Couldn’t agree more. Very much full despair about our playstyle and tuning this patch. Sucks when we had such a great rework just a few months ago 😢
This is horrible. (The changes, not your guide - which is excellent btw). Between these changes and the Prot Paladin set bonus, what the hell are they thinking?
Someone really hates Holy paladin in blizzard. They don't want Pala players remain happy for a long time 😢

I don’t know where they are going with this play style but this is the worst I’ve ever seen holy paladin in a very long time. I don’t get why they are trying to hard to make healers do damage at all times.
Whenever I press wog it feels like it was a waste of a gcd or as if my gear was broken.
