I got a response from Aqueon Aquariums in response to my Tempered Glass Inquiry Hi David, Any panel of any aquarium has the potential to be tempered. The only way to know for sure is by checking. There are videos on You Tube that will show you how to check using a polarized lens. Brian Woodruff Thanx for watching Brian
ok so now how do i know if my sunglasses are fully polarized? im not getting a full blackout of the screen with neither the glass in front of it, or looking directly at the screen. i am getting a very dark bluish color, but not completely blacked out, i can still see the outlines of certain things. this is both looking at the screen directly and when the screen is behind the glass, its the same.
Probably best to get a cheap polarized sheet or even camera filter so you know what you have. Plus, those would be flat and not have the distortion of the curved sunglasses.
You may want to try a different screen on a different computer or phone. I use my Galaxy 8 and a $20 pair of sunglasses. I do it right in the store before I buy the tank
OK, I am hear to tell you that this is not a valid test. I did this on the sides of a fish tank. It passed your test, the polarized filter went all black. BUT, when I tried to cut the glass, it shattered. Both the front and back long sides where tempered. But the end sides were not tempered and I am getting ready to test the bottom glass.

Thanks. Wish I'd known this trick about an hour ago. The Internet lied to me and now it's back to Petco with a laptop and RayBans lol.
Genius! I learned something today!
Glad I could help Bud
Awesome video, best on YT that I found! Thanks, Subbed!
great video Dave. It's great to see someone actually demo this theory.
Thanks Scott. A lot of people are drilling their own tanks lately. Good to know what to look for
This is a good explanation Dave. Sean should watch this!!
Thanx Phillip. I hope he knows this before he drills.
Great tip. Even just to check if your sunglasses are polarized
Yeah,that too. Thanx for watching

For those of you who don't get a fully blacked screen even when not viewing through the tank; you may have a tempered glass screen protector.
Nice vid man

So if the glass is temperd it has lines if it's not tempered glass it goes completely black? It's so Confusing
Stephen Stewart I know bud. Tempered glass will not black out. Regular glass will act the same as no glass.
I tried 5 different glasses that all said they were polarized but I ever got a full back out when I was testing it out

Dave's Nano Tanks thank you when I tried it with my computer screen it worked
Same here
Great Tip

great tip.. I always wonder if my tanks was temper or not... thank..
I think it would even work with a phone, in a bag, in a full tank. I'll get on it
@@Davelembo Did you get on it? :p
Cool trick
Its pretty ridiculous that they cant just put a damn sticker that says if it is or not
They want to sell you a reef ready tank
Tempered Glass = Light Comes through on Polarized?
Glass Drillable = Light COMPLETELY blacks out
could not have come at a better time.
Hope it helps someone. Thanx for watching brother
This doesn't work, I just destroyed my 75 gallon aquarium 😢
