Thanks for your video Mr. Hamrick. I'm doing a homework about something similar like yours...my question is: How can I interpret or read each dummy variable? Thanks a lot again.
These are incredibly useful. Also, there is a high-pitched whine the whole time. (In your other videos, it's just a drone.) FWIW, I highly recommend Audacity and a USB headset mic for noise reduction. It adds 5 minutes to the process but it's well worth it, imho.
Hi Jeff, How can I do a reverse of what you did here ? Lets say I have 5 dummy variables in my dataset, which I want to combine into one categorical variable.
Hello mr. Hamrick, I'm currently doing a paper on Regression in Stata and would be really interested to know how to interpretate the results for each variable. I would also like to know if the value of R squared is of any significance in this form of regression. Thanks for this video and thanks in advance for any help, it will be greatly appreciated.
Very helpful thank you! I have a question. If you wanted to see how the other variables explained the dependent variable price given the make how would your model look like? In other words, if you had a regression model that had five dummies and the other independent variables would you need to interact each dummy variable with an independent variable to see how the make of the car changes the coefficients of the other independent variables? I am asking because I am doing a similar regression with firm specific characteristics and their effects on a dependent variable where I have to take in to account how the industry of the firm affects the coefficients of the firm specific characteristics. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Hello Jeff, Thanks for this video. How can we generate variable names such that we have let say m_Buick instead of m1 and so on? This will create some meaning rather than having a sequence of m1, m2,....m6.
Hi, I followed this procedure as you've shown me in the video, but after running the regression, I still get the response from stata on my dummy variables omitted. Basically I created dummy variables for 4 religious affiliations Atheism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam and I want to include those in my regression model. but when i run my regression, they are still omitted in the results. By the way I am running a panel regression so I have already set my data with the xtset command.
Hey Jeff, is there a more efficient way of not typing m1 m2 ...m5 into the command and is there a way of just creating N-1 of dummy variables we need which in this case 5 dummies instead of 6? Many thanks!
What do I need to to do when I want 5 dummy variables instead of six? Meaning SAAB and SATURN as one Dummy Variable together and teh rest individually?
I'm not sure whether you'll read this, but I'll just ask anyway. There may be a situation where you create hundreds of dummy variables, and perform regression with those dummies. Is there simpler way to rewrite, y d1 d2 d3 ........ d100?
Very succinct tutorial. You've made this world better
Excellent video!!! Clear and simple!
Awesome! It is very clear and useful! Thank you!
Thanks too much your easy and understandable video presention
Thanks very much, your video saved my life.

Jeff thanks so much!

Can a video of 2013 help me with my homework today? yes it did! Thanks!
making hard things easier. thanks
this is some real gourmet shit
really helpful thank you

wonderful!!

Dear Jason: Thank you for your comment. I am moving over today to a USB headset and will start using Audacity as well. Thanks for the tip. Best, Jeff.
very useful thank~~
thankyou so much for this :)

His last video was 8 years ago...
Hey. So what did you end up doing? Did you make interactions for each dummy variable and the independent variable?
Legend!
Thank you so much. Can you please tell me that how can I find out the range of the variable by only one command?
Hello Jeff,

thanks a lot

How do I combine dummy variables to make a factor variable?

Thanks for this video, very helpful. Does anyone know how to do this but for creating interaction terms?
Hello Jeff, how do i assign a unique identifying number for data sets in stata?
hi Jeff.. how can I subgroup observations within a string variable... thank you

can you interpret the result of reg price m1 m2 m3 m4 m5?
you sound like Obama. lol thanks anyway
what do you mean by "anyway"?!!!!
very helpful!!
Thanks a lot.
