Very interesting. I've been reading, and admiring, Ayn Rand since 1987. In 1978, when she gave this speech, I was in the first of my last three school years. I was, then, a pro-Apartheid atheist -- in South Africa. I never knew that she had ever said anything about South Africa, until now (2024). And, as usual, she said in a few words things about SA and Apartheid that I had never thought of before. A truly remarkable thinker, and surely a very great genius! Of course, it was none other than Ayn Rand who had opened my eyes to the principle that the organising of "groups" in a population is not the government's job. And that skin colour is not at all what should ever be the criterion of which "groups" are which. So I've been cured of my agreement with the Apartheid ideology for a very long time, now. Wish that the current collectivist, altruist, mystic, fascist (= central-planning), anti-capitalist, anti-free-speech government was not repeating / continuing the exact same insanity by means of, for example, their BEE, affirmative action, and national-socialist medical insurance plans, to name only a few.
Indeed it is a wrong direction, because it is primarily a political scam , designed to exacerbate already exaggerated fears instilled by the nefarious ,who would use it as yet another means of control, and looting the product of the creation of those who , can,and do produce wealth in the world !
@@apokalypthoapokalypsys9573the thought itself is not wrong, in that you're correct, however the environmental change hyperbole is a total fraud , illegitimate in nature, and used for unearned gains via political sculdugery ,a scam !

37:26 is still spot on.
Inspiring!
Rand's stunning selfishness and self-esteem exhibited starting at 1:03:50 in response to a question

Ecologism is a wrong thought.
There is no such thing as a "wrong thought", authoritarian. There are wrong deeds, but no wrong thoughts.
