- In any major tourist city, there will be people who are looking to scam and rip off people that are coming for their vacation in order to cheat them out of their money. Sin City is no different, but if you watch this video I'll let you in on some of the most cruel and common scams that happen on the strip, in clubs, with transportation, with gambling and even involving kids/teenagers under 18 years old.

The riders need to report the illegal acts regarding long hauling to the Taxi Authority💪
If they feel suspicious long hauling acts, please look at the meter which shows the drivers’ name and cab number! Reporting To the Authority! It’s been the rules that we, taxi drivers no longer are allowed to do long hauling!!! Uber/Lyft could have the same illegal acts. Besides, Taxi never scammed riders with High Surge🥺

Best advise. Do not engage strangers PERIOD. Say nothing to them! Keep walking, don’t look away, but don’t stare at them. Remain aware of their actions, as you KEEP WALKING.

Yep, that's how I visit Vegas. I don't acknowledge or stop for ANYONE on the street. The showgirls, the ghetto CD thugs, Mickey Mouse, the timeshare scammers, strip club promoters, and the bums are very easy for me to ignore.
I hope I never ask anyone what time of day it is, just in case my cell overheats, gets stolen, etc. They'll think I'm a scammer.
You described life in a big American city over the past decade. Its better to keep to yourself. Its hard to live that way. Thats why I live in a small town.

Good one, but the real biggest scam is the government creating fiat currency.
Then, the 2nd biggest scam is the RESORT FEE.

The 3rd biggest scam was having to pay a "CNF" Concession fee for burying a dead hooker, like i am sure the issuer didn't even have a licence...
If you have a players card at any casino, and if you play slots and tables long enough, you get a very nice complementary meal !! I always get free meals because I play blackjack all the time

Know what I think a cruel LV scam is? Advertising rooms at an extraordinary rate but adding Resort Fees at booking. Now that I book online, it's not a surprise. But back when I booked by phone, I didn't see the fees until I checked out! I thought that was crooked.
@Mr. Nishimoto yes....BUT...I now book online & see the total cost of the room w taxes & fees. If I think it's a good value, I go! If I think the rates are unreasonable, I check other rates, maybe stay on Fremont St, OR just don't go.

You're right and it's not optional, which I think it should be especially at some of the "B" list hotels where the "resort amenities" aren't really all that.
Also many now charge if you're parking a car.
You can ask them to waive it a usually they can or will but it's at the front desk when you should ask when you check out well it worked last 2 times I stayed at a hotel there.
As a person who has never been to Las Vegas, the city itself feels like a giant scam, just based on the videos I've seen on RUclips.

Las Vegas is not Disneyland or Disney World, but the cost of a 5 day vacation is about the same assuming you don't gamble. If you just relax at the big resorts and avoid walking on the strip, you can have a nice vacation without getting swindled.
I used to think that too, until I visited a couple years ago because of how many awesome nature day trips you can take driving out from Las Vegas. I didn’t gamble or do any typical tourist things besides walk around and go to the Bellagio conservatory, but I would have if I’d had more time. I kept saying over and over how surprised I was at how much I liked just walking around on the Strip.

I'm an elderly woman that has to walk with a cane so I am obviously vulnerable. But, I always use a very small cross-body purse when I go gambling. I take only the minimum of what I may need. ID, room key, credit card, cash and a couple of tissues. I also like to wear jeans because if there are extras I need I have pockets!

A few days ago a 55+ guy fumbling with his backpack ,wearing a mask got on the elevator with us and another couple . A room key is required to select a floor. We each selected a floor but he did NOT select a floor. He got off on our floor and asked "where are you from? " He said we looked like "normal" people , said he was from a city close to us. He walked past us and when opened our door he turned and walked back to us and said he was a mortgage broker , had an MBA bla,bla, bla... I felt the red flag. Then told us that he needed to get to airport and had left his wallet in a cab. Said the hotel does not provide this service and since his friend reserved the room he was not listed as a guest . Said he called the police but they would not give him a ride bla,bla,bla. He needed money for cab fare and he would pay us back 2X .I ended the conversation and we went into our room. This guy had targeted us as we were of the same age and he followed us on a "secure" elevator! Felt vulnerable as we had opened our door. Nothing bad happened to us but just be aware of this. Wife called hotel security with the details . Said they would take care of it.
Sounds like the same the exact same guy and scam I ran into in an elevator at Cosmopolitan last year.
That would make me very mad, because my husband has a short temper and would end up fighting the guy while screaming at me to call hotel security. My husband would put that guy in the hospital, my husband would be in jail, and my vacation would be ruined. Ever see the Better Call Saul scene where Mike holds on to Tuco until the cops arrive. My husband does that stuff, just latches on to a perp and hangs on for dear life. He's going to get killed doing that some day.
That’s really bad! I know a lot of the casinos have a worker at elevators checking room cards.

Another scam I’ve found is people walking around the casino trying to sell you jewelry. I had it happen at Aria, Bellagio, and South Point. They find a person winning money, try to act like they’re excited for you, then ask you to buy jewelry. Idiots. I’m not falling for that.
U can add Paris to the list. Stayed there last month & a man approached my girlfriend on the slots hawking jewellery
One time I won 2k at a slot and while waiting for a handpay some guy approached me saying" he man. I've had bad luck at the slots. Can you share the wealth "?. I told him no thanks. He was a bm walking around asking for money. Noticed him for days in the casino floor.
It amazes me that the 3 card monte scam still works on anybody; you’re on the Strip ffs - go into one of the dozen mega casinos at arm’s reach and get ripped off properly 😁👍

I got scammed on number 4 at a truck stop in Florida. They got me for $300 . I have had several groups try that since but I smelled it a mile away. Thanks for the heads-up on the other 4

That basketball season one happened a lot when I worked at Albertsons. They tried to get me one day shopping and I told them " you should try hockey instead and you'll get a lot further" and that's when they dropped the act.

Out here in L.A. I see the same guys on the street corners with signs holding up a picture of a "family" member who died and they want money for the funeral. The problem is, they are there like every weekend and it appears to be the same picture of the same "family" each time. Either the guy died came back to life and then died again or this is a scam. How many funerals can one person have?

The new one is a guy comes up to you to ask if you need anything at the Walgreens on the strip and he will go in and “steal” it for you for half the price. There is zero theft protection going on in that location. He goes in and takes 3-4 of them, walks out and tries to get you to give him double or triple for the extra items. He scams you and the store lol…..

Taxis from McCarran had preset pricing to the hotels on the strip.
It was divided into 3 zones . I was staying at Paris $24 flat fare.
Yes, but that's only to the strip. The rest of the Vegas Valley has no preset pricing.
You didn’t mention all the “upcoming rappers” asking for donations as well. They ruined my first trip to Vegas
Yup I’ve been to vegas many times but still ended up having to give one of those dudes $3 the other day. He wouldn’t leave me alone and kept following me. I gave him $3 and he said “that’s all you have?” I yelled at him and walked away. Still annoyed that I gave him anything but oh well I guess. I was just mad cause I knew better haha

You're videos on how to handle yourself on the strip helped me so much. I don't think I would of fallen for the scams but just watching the videos gave me the confidence boost I need to go out, be safe and have fun. I just got back from Vegas again for the second time this year don't hasvbe an inkling to go back anytime soon now that I saw Ka which was closed valentines day week when MGM Grand had cheap rooms (70 including resort fees) and 50 dollar food and drink credit per night.
Watch your pockets when watching the fountains, or the volcano at Mirage. Stood behind someone getting pick pocketed

People who keep saying, isn't an Uber or Lyft cheaper than a cab. You people seem to forget that not everyone who goes to Vegas is from the US. Tourists from different countries don't have constant access to the internet. So, sometimes your only option is a cab. Even if you know that an Uber or Lyft is cheaper.

I remember when The Grand in Tunica, MS was booming. Every trip there some 'Sweet' Little Old Lady would sit next to me and ask if she could put her Players Card in my machine...so she could get points for free stuff. What I saw one night was this scam and the guy hit a small jackpot with that 'sweet' old lady's card in his machine.

To avoid the taxi scam - take Uber or Lyft
oh, they use demand pricing there and a simple ride could cost you $50 or more nearly anytime you want to go anywhere.
as an avid walker, I wonder why on earth there is no pedestrian walkway between the airport and the Strip since it's only 3 miles away... By the way, I walk around 5-10 miles daily.

I first saw the teenagers asking for donations for team uniforms scam over 20 years ago in Chicago.
They do that in EVERY city. It is funny when you ask them what is the name of the team or what position they play. When they hesitate and look confused I just laugh and walk off.

At a strip club, a scam I was told about from a dancer working there was with "bottle service" to the patrons for serving wine at a table in the strip club. The club will take a $200 bottle of wine and charge the table $1,500 for "bottle service."
It’s probably a 10 dollar bottle of wine they buy at Walmart.

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) on main casino floor is best value. The remaining floor space is a rip-off. Mirage is being demolished to build Hard Rock Guitar-shaped Hotel 2025
Thing about "3 Card Monte" or "The Cup and Ball" Games, even if you know the game is rigged and know how to beat it, after you "win," a couple people from the crew will follow you and rob you.
Me and my friends got scammed when the taxi driver took the highway from Freemont street to the hard Rock casino. I was pissed!

Great advice! I'm coming to Vegas from Dallas in 2 weeks. One thing I've been worried about was scammers. Last time I was there it was bad. Plus all the time share sales people.
the restaurants there are the worst scammers. save your money and go somewhere else. the place was fun in the 80's and 90s now it is a disaster.

in 2011 i was in srat and and had my computer in a plastic bag i put it down and it was stolen the security said it was my fault and no further action

I saw someone get purse snatched at Aria when they first opened! Wearing a small cross body bag that you never put down is best when traveling. This also helps you to avoid putting your cellphone down by mistake and forgetting it or taking out a wallet and getting that snatched. The cross body is best if it zips closed and has a little organization inside like a wallet and closes around where the cell would be placed as well. I also like to have room for a back up battery and cable inside so I never have to go back to charge my cell. The last time I was in the casino the smoking was so bad because they were selling a lot of cigars at the resort. I don’t understand how they can have all these young fertile aged women working in that environment when they could be pregnant before knowing it for weeks if not months if they are not self aware. Why can’t these people smoke outside somehwere on these massive properties? I just hate it!

As a cab driver I often asked "Shortest or fastest?" if controlled access highway was an option. Fastest on highways was usually longer. Time is money. People will often pay the premium to arrive sooner. Google maps has similar functions for this question. Passengers can pre load routes and do rate based price comparisons. The walking or cycling route might not be passable by car, but is often shortest.

My sister and I always use our “ casino purses” . We both have several but they go over neck and shoulder and that way we aren’t caring a purse to accidentally get left behind or rifled through. And on that subject there has been times where I’m playing and someone comes up and says something and I get a hit and that person is waiting for me to share some of the winnings saying they brought me good luck. In all actuality that person was watching me play and it was the right moment the machine was gonna pay. So it’s sad I can’t just be left alone. Always con artists watching!

Thank you for a great and informative video. When you go from the airport to your hotel, long hauling is not an issue, as there are pre-set zones and they can't over charge you. It's some extra walking but the monorail can get you fairly close to anyplace on the strip, I don't see the need to take a taxi at all except to and from the airport. I have found Lyft and Uber is a lot more expensive these days, and usually the rideshare pickup and drop off is at the back end of the hotel, never up front. So if I do need a ride, I like taxis better as they bring you to the front of the hotel.
Was there last week. It's a set fare now. $25.
@@joeswash6353 $25 from the cab, or it was $11.50-$12.00 for an UBER. The $25 flat rate is over-priced..

Another one is people are so attracted to play the slots that are name brand like "Breaking bad" "Sex and the city" etc...those slots have the worst odds because they have to pay royalties to the rights owners of the shows.
