Do you have any idea’s for taking off spare tire compartment that has a lock and I have lost the key sometime in the past 42 years I have owned the 76 ?@@fun-cars
@@billwilliamson2753 I would support the spare tire. There is a long bolt that holds the tire carrier. It is attached to a bracket that is bolted to the frame. You can see this at about 11:10 of the video. Unbolt the bracket from the frame and drop the tire. From there you should be able to cut the bolt with a hacksaw, angle grinder or saws all. Replace the bolt and nut and you should be good to go.
I agree with you , I’d hate to be on the road in my 76 vet and need the spare...I’d have to call AAA.....LOL GREAT VIDEO’S ..THANK YOU

It hasn't been down since I have owned the car ... so sometime before Sept 2005.
