It is, by definition, a southern American gospel arrangement, and I believe that this performance was actually part of a church service in Korea. Many church songs are arranged this way. There are about 3 additional layers of "hook" (syncopation, up-tempo, rich orchestral) in this song as a result which is splendidly captivating. In addition to So Hyang's masterful performance is the equally masterful arrangement. Solid stuff. Btw, that is a G5 she is hitting full / mixed voice. Impressive with unbelievably technical skills on full display. Well done!
Sohyang sang this song as part of a singing competition show on KBS, "Immortal Songs 2". The theme for that episode is "pop" songs (Western songs) that are popular in Korea. The invited guest is the DJ who played Western music on the radio many years ago. He's the guy who sang along with his eyes closed. The other folks shown are either the other competitors, or audience members. And, yes, Sohyang won this episode.

Sorry I forgot to mention to "bring tissue just in case" last time. 😊 A few of her performances are known to gut reactors' tear ducts open due to her emotive delivery. 😂 Whether from inspiration to hope to consolation, or from unrequited or lost love, Sohyang is VERY good at emoting. This capability truly compliments her legendary technical mastery. This said mastery makes vocal pedagogy communities worldwide go bonkers over. We all know taste/preference is subjective. But, objectively, technique wise, Sohyang will be remembered as one of the all time greats. That G5 mix at the end is only a sneak peak of the Sohyang iceberg. (For me, it was her pianissimo in the beginning of this performance that impressed me the most. Smooth, superb control and the diminuendo is just masterful. It was probably because I had already witnessed her legendary Bb5 mix in a prior other performance video titled _"Arirang Alone"._ Hers is the most insanely perfect Bb5 mix I've ever heard: fully supported, zero strain, massively resonant, with balanced head/chest ratio, and with vibrato. 😱 Mix Bb5 is not her max either. It was C#6, still fully supported, still zero strain, etc.) Speaking of consoling, it's the primary reason that Sohyang sings. Sohyang stated that she doesn't chase fame or fortune. That's not her "mission", if I may borrow reference from her gospel root. Her religious background plus surviving cancer in her early 20s forged Sohyang into who she is. She turned down many record deal offers, both local and international, because she feels the path of fame and fortune will lead her astray the wrong path, more "worldly" instead of spiritually. But, as the saying goes, *cream rises to the top.* She doesn't have the backing of giant promotion mechanism lubricated by big budget of major record labels, which pretty much responsible for who are currently "mainstream". It's mostly through people's word of mouth she garner her loyal fans and admirers as years go by. Included in the word of mouth category is RUclips comments. She crossed over from the gospel music scene in 2012, in her early 30s. Late as it seems, it's actually a blessing because Sohyang in her 20s had not achieved the virtuoso level that she's known for today. There are videos of her earlier performances. We can compare just how far Sohyang has come. She really trained herself, to transform from a regular "singer" into a "vocalist". Her old and new video can be made into "before and after" transformation commercial promoting what discipline and hard work can achieve. .

Many thanks for the reaction coach, and eagerly waiting for your analysis. It is a joy to see someone hearing a song that they love and means a lot to them re-arranged and sang beautifully by a good artist. And Sohyang is definitely one of them! JINA elaborates more about her in her comment below.
A couple of suggestions if you want to see and analyze more from her. Both performances are very interesting vocally in my opinion - and frankly most of her performances are.
1. Lean on me :. ruclips.net/video/GvsgCllcNPE/видео.html .:. This is an absolute classic, given a new life by Sohyang. She takes us into a roller-coaster ride of genres, emotions and vocal colors, and in the end delivers a performance and experience that needs to be seen. Michael Bolton was actually there when she sang this live, and he - together with most of the audience - was floored. Sohyang takes us to church!
2. Arirang Alone :. ruclips.net/video/zFyndK9VOCk/видео.html .:. Sohyang has over the years delivered some incredible english covers but watching her emote in her native tongue is a sight of its own. This one is another vocal and emotional roller-coaster ride, and a very loved folk song in S.Korea, speaking about the unification of the peninsula. Her arrangement and execution really does it justice.
