I really like my PENTEL ones and will still use them, but for job site stuff I like using the Pica Pencils because they are so easy to get in/out of the sleeve when you have your hands full with other stuff. Appreciate your input 👍
@@MORGANSMaintenance hands down my favorite thing about pica and the sharpener tip for the thicker one and the 0.9 one is perfect for when you need to be precise on-site or in shop!
@@MORGANSMaintenance for sure if I working with solid stuff I prefer to use masking tape and the needle that comes with combination squares nothing gives a smaller like without breaking imo unless you think otherwise.
Yeah that Pica 3030 is my favorite everyday pencil… they usually run about $13 or so on Amazon. Another benefit is you can get different color leads if that’s something you use. It’s mostly just nice to quickly pul it in/out and it has a good grip. I used to use No. 2 pencils but for some reason I always chew on them… have no idea why…
Man love that 0.9mm Pentel too. Mainly use for finish carpentry. Issue I’ve had with it is the tip will unscrew. The Pica3030 is almost my go to. Definitely will track down this new one. Much thanks.
Your welcome. I’m the same on the 3030. Yeah I’ve had it unscrew on me a few times too. I’ve dropped it a few times with the tip out and that’s what kills them. They feel so great in the hand though. Have a good one buddy 👍
Thanks, I have the ox and the pica, I like the ox sharpener placement more and the pencil being colored as well but the pica holds lead longer with out cleaning
0,9 it's still too big for me. Regular Pica Dry (2,8 mm lead) is perfect for less precise jobs. For really neat markings I use 0,5 mm. I didn't know that Pentel had such a nice pencil. That retracting mechanism combined with a clip is brilliant. I keep my Pica Dry on my right tight in a strap of my work trousers, while my precise pencil goes to left pocket on my shirt. And I always have problem with clips that are not strong enough. That Pentel looks perfect for me. Thanks for the video.
Your welcome. I love those PENTEL ones. I saw them on a woodworkers channel, can’t remember which one but he used the .5 mm also. They have multiple sizes. I have meant to buy the kit with all the sizes when I catch it on sale to keep on my bench.
The Hultafors was one I was trying to think of the name. I’ve wanted to try that one just because it’s red. Ain’t no shame in an old school pencil. 😂. My problem with them is that I chew on them too much for some reason.
@@MORGANSMaintenance well its hultafors is nice that it have the hole at the bottom of the holder... so can use it as a thicker penicltype and it wont snap the tip if have it to long when replace the pen.... but they have same death at pica.. smooh get in them and they stop feed.
You know that the Pentel Graphgear 1000 has an eraser underneath the metal cap that you click to push lead out, right? I’m pretty embarrassed to admit it took me way longer than I’ll admit to figure that out.
Yeah, it must have been a promotional item years ago. I saw one on Facebook marketplace which made me know it existed. I ended up getting mine off eBay.
Thanks pretty cool thermos... enjoy your videos... your videos got me hooked on knipex.. I just purchased a festool track saw last week so that is going to hinder my new tool acquisitions the rest of the month.
Been using this for a few months now when I do trim carpentry. I love it! And like you, I have a pica pencil in every pouch and tool belt

@@amritg187 yeah being able to get a sharp tip is great. It’s definitely able to get a better tip than sharpening a carpenters pencil with a knife.

@@MORGANSMaintenance sure your probably got know more as I'm only a 2nd year
Just got my first Pica a few weeks ago and can't believe I've been missing out! Gotta get this .9
Yeah I really like mine. The grip is good, and the sleeve helps for quick access.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm a fan of Pica pencils. I recently bought a few more. I'm also a fan of Paper mate Sharpwriter pencils.
Yeah I love the grip and how quick I can pull and put them back in my pocket.
Thanks for the Sharpwriter suggestion 👍
Thanks for this video, I didn’t know about these Pica pencils. I normally use regular old No. 2 pencils.

I have grown to Really like the Hultafors… but the Ox is on my list to try. I’m a pencil nerd 😂
Marc from the Wood Whisperer did a blurb on the Pentel 1000 Graf Gear some time ago, maybe that's what you saw. 🙂
It might have been.. I watch his channel.
Luv my Pica pencil 💪

useing the oldschool pencil.. i have tested all type pica,blitzer,hultafors.. they survive 24-48h on me :D

Thanks 😎🛠️😎🛠️😎

Is that a thermos that is made to look like a Klein screwdriver handle? If it is, that's cool.

👍… thanks for the suggestion, really like the pencil
What is the klein looking object on the bench?
It’s a Thermos I found on eBay. I think it was a promotional item at some point.

👍👍.. mine too, but it’s because I lost a piece that goes to it.
I returned back to my Pentel GRAPHGEAR 1000
I bought 0.9mm lead off amazon, it don't fit.
Sometimes brands of lead matter and sometimes they don't. I have certain 2.0 leads that don't fit in my Pica or Hultafor either
@@MORGANSMaintenance Good to know. It's Proprietary Lead🤣
