      👍👍.. mine too, but it’s because I lost a piece that goes to it.
      I returned back to my Pentel GRAPHGEAR 1000

    Man love that 0.9mm Pentel too. Mainly use for finish carpentry. Issue I’ve had with it is the tip will unscrew. The Pica3030 is almost my go to. Definitely will track down this new one. Much thanks.

      Your welcome. I’m the same on the 3030.
      Yeah I’ve had it unscrew on me a few times too. I’ve dropped it a few times with the tip out and that’s what kills them. They feel so great in the hand though.
      Have a good one buddy 👍

    I bought 0.9mm lead off amazon, it don't fit.

      Sometimes brands of lead matter and sometimes they don't. I have certain 2.0 leads that don't fit in my Pica or Hultafor either

    Thanks for this video, I didn’t know about these Pica pencils. I normally use regular old No. 2 pencils.

      @MORGANSMaintenance  Год назад +1

      Yeah that Pica 3030 is my favorite everyday pencil… they usually run about $13 or so on Amazon.
      Another benefit is you can get different color leads if that’s something you use. It’s mostly just nice to quickly pul it in/out and it has a good grip.
      I used to use No. 2 pencils but for some reason I always chew on them… have no idea why…

      I really like my PENTEL ones and will still use them, but for job site stuff I like using the Pica Pencils because they are so easy to get in/out of the sleeve when you have your hands full with other stuff.
      Appreciate your input 👍

      @@MORGANSMaintenance hands down my favorite thing about pica and the sharpener tip for the thicker one and the 0.9 one is perfect for when you need to be precise on-site or in shop!

      @@amritg187 yeah being able to get a sharp tip is great. It’s definitely able to get a better tip than sharpening a carpenters pencil with a knife.

    You know that the Pentel Graphgear 1000 has an eraser underneath the metal cap that you click to push lead out, right? I’m pretty embarrassed to admit it took me way longer than I’ll admit to figure that out.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  Год назад

      😂… well it does take some effort to get that cap off, so it does make you leery of pulling it off.

    Marc from the Wood Whisperer did a blurb on the Pentel 1000 Graf Gear some time ago, maybe that's what you saw. 🙂

    0,9 it's still too big for me. Regular Pica Dry (2,8 mm lead) is perfect for less precise jobs. For really neat markings I use 0,5 mm. I didn't know that Pentel had such a nice pencil. That retracting mechanism combined with a clip is brilliant.
    I keep my Pica Dry on my right tight in a strap of my work trousers, while my precise pencil goes to left pocket on my shirt. And I always have problem with clips that are not strong enough. That Pentel looks perfect for me.
    Thanks for the video.

      I love those PENTEL ones. I saw them on a woodworkers channel, can’t remember which one but he used the .5 mm also. They have multiple sizes. I have meant to buy the kit with all the sizes when I catch it on sale to keep on my bench.
