In the HOTAS CONTROL section of controls, you will see several axis set under the same input categories of: Power (- U Slider axis), Aileron (X-Axis), Elevator (Y-Axis), Rudder (Z-Axis). This is where you click on and wiggle your desired HOTAS axis to set the correct control surface for those inputs.
Once you start a campaugn all difficulty controls are locked. You had enabled the "no icons" difficulty option, which means you will see no icons on the in-flight map.
Excuse me... you mentioned moving the slider... I know IL2'46 defaults to the X52's slider for the throttle and it's the first thing I change after a fresh install... PLEASE don't tell me you're going to leave it like that...
@@Iceman42nd Drag the slider down to min, then try assigning the throttle again. That's what usually works for me. PS: You'll also want to make sure the rotaries are in the neutral position (the middle)
He he. Maybe it would be better to get your controls fully set up before playing your first mission for all of us to witness how you stumble through the process. 😉 Unless, of course, this is how you demonstrate the process for those who might not have played '46. 😉 A fresh install reverts controls to the default. You can make a backup of your user controls so as to avoid this pain all over again. I don't know how Steam operates, and whether it adds Windows registry entries. But rhe 'normal' game install dies not. This makes the game completely transportable, meaning you can copy it to a drive and then simply write a copy to any computer. No needcto do an installation from the start all over again. Indeed, you can have multiple copies of the game on a computer, each with a different folder name, of course. You could have the original Steam game, as well as a B.A.T. version. You should have made a copy of B.A.T. as a backup. Then you can write it to your computer drive if it ever fails to run (after deleting the now broken install.) For HOTAS controls, to assign a flight control to an axis you simply move the axis after selecting the control you are changing. Be aware that the direction you move the axis makes axdiffetence. If sfter setting a cobtrol you find it to be reversed, go through the process again and move the axin the opposite direction. What you were seeing at takeoff was the morning fog effect. And of course now you have the awful old sounds to endure. What's the "next game" you would jump to?

I wonder if War Thunder have stuff from this game. I know they have things from IL2 Birds of Pray
Honestly I have no idea, I didn't play WT.

I do not want to fly like this, it has no point. But I cannot change it, somehow, will try it once again.

@@Atkara-xzy Thank you, engine power set to proper axis. Appreciate, it worked
This version of the game contains just the 'official' material sanctioned by the developer. B A.T. incorporates thousands of community mods.
