I actually made something similar for my 2019 taco before I even knew of this. It's so simple, just measure and cut a piece of plywood and then I cut it down the middle and put hinges so I can lift up either side for access. Then use 2 wood planks into the slots in the bed. Use 2 long Tupperware containers with wheels for drawers. Works sooo good with a mattress and my softtopper for camping. And it all comes off in 5 min including the top. Then I can haul my dirtbike. Easy peasy.
I think I'm going to do something similar. Then you can cover it with outdoor carpeting to make it a little nicer even. The decked system seems nice, but it also looks like there is quite a bit of lost/wasted space under it. Though those roller drawers do look nice and convenient!
Just installed mine 2 weeks ago, works perfectly for what I need it for. Having the added weight in the bed seems to make the truck ride smoother and keeps the tires from spinning on wet streets. And 200+lbs hasn’t had any effect on my gas mileage, it’s pretty much the same as having a passenger.
Can i just build it and then just throw it in the bed of the truck? Not screwing it to the bed. I want to be able to remove it easily just in case i need the entire bed for cargo
Thanks for this. I ordered a new 21 Tacoma TRD off road, access cab and long bed, a couple of weeks after you made this video. I also ordered the Decked system and a canopy for it. Close to three months later, I am still waiting for the new Tacoma, but I have had a '98 Tacoma with the same description for a long time. The Decked system arrived two days after I ordered it and I did a temporary installation in the '98 Tacoma. I agree with all your comments about the quality and the instructions, except that my manual says I will need help installing the brackets that bolt it to the bed. The drawer system is not attached in the temporary install in the '98 Tacoma. I have driven it but not off road. It doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. I like the way you handled the 110 volt outlet and will probably do it the same way. Thanks for all the great videos!

Ok, my thoughts. This mod is really a nice addition for your use of the Tacoma. Looks good, high quality and is very useful for your activities. It’s not for me though. It adds significant weight which decreases acceleration and fuel mileage. It also limits the size of what you can put in the bed. I use my pickup bed to haul a lot of larger items which is why a lot lot of times I wished that I bought a Tundra. But you could pull a trailer for those times that you need to carry larger items. That said, the weight will make your ride smoother but may be a limiting factor when rock crawling and other serious off roading. Time will tell. You have great videos and I have bought several mods for my Tacoma that I would not have known even existed had I not watched your channel. Keep up the good work.
Nice job on the install love how you put the electric outlet in going to put mine in the same way .Decked should take that in. Its a great mod. Thanks Chloe love your videos .Keep up the good work.
I’d recommend getting an UpTop bed rack. Just installed mine and it’s been such an amazing mod. Has room on the side for max trax, rotopax and awning. On top, you have room for kayaks, bikes or a roof top tent. Would be perfect on your truck.
I admit, I WAS interested in this Decked system until I learned the weight. 200lbs is heavy and noticable in daily driving. Tack on the Bedrack, RTT, and other off road (camping) necessities and the Taco is one heavy beast. I'm glad this system works well for you. I'm kinda bummed that it wouldn't work for me. If it was somehow half the weight, I may consider it. Good video. Thanks again.
Great job! Been vasilating on this addition to my truck for a few years. use a lot to load a wheelchair, maybe awkward for a wheelchair to lay on top of the deck due to the additional height. Looks great and most importantly very functional.
I have a DECKED in my Jeep Gladiator. From the factory, my Gladiator had a noticeable rake. With the added 200lbs and what ever I have store in the drawers, my Gladiator leveled out a little. I also modded one of the ammo cans to house my dual ARB compressor.

My 2021 Tacoma sr5 4x2 got totaled I was on the freeway and and charger srt lost control going 100 and hit a metal rail and flew towards me I’m thankful i got my truck in March and it saved my life on June 4 now insurance payed it out and gave me 15k now I’m getting a 4x4 2021 I’m excited to be driving a Taco again soon
I don’t mean to butt in just trying to save you a bit of money but it’s a Bad time to buy vehicles. Market is super high and demand for a taco is high. Your going to spend so much money getting the truck on top of that your going to lose value of the truck and depreciate 3 times as faster whenever the market decides to get back to normal. You won’t have any collateral.
Lovin' your videos Chloe. After My 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 arrives in a few weeks. I may just have to order one of these for many of the same reasons you installed yours. Besides having a nice flat place to set up for tent type camping scenario. Having a passion for photography. Using it for a flat stable platform will come in handy, from time to time, when mounting a camera on a tripod. And like you with a good locking system keeping the camping and camera gear safe and organized. Relocating the bed outlet was very clever. Well done Chloe....
I think you should upgrade to a aftermarket leaf pack. As of right now you’re not gonna see any sag cuz your shocks are still fairly new and you don’t have much weight in the back yet however, your shocks will wear out faster if you don’t do anything about it even if you didn’t plan to add anything else. The fact that you take your truck off-roading from time to time will wear out your suspension so much faster than just keeping it on the pavement. I wouldn’t even recommend adding an AAL cuz you do take it off-road…nothing wrong with AAL’s but I feel they are meant more for street use with added weight instead of off-roading with added weight. I have a good feeling you still plan to add more stuff/weight onto your truck so go with a aftermarket leaf pack.

Went to agile off road in Santee Ca, couldn’t be happier except that I was only able to get a large and a small drawer vs two large drawers. I purchased extra boxes but that was not necessary.
Had I not put the molle panels in my bed I probably would have got a Decked system. I am definitely getting it though on my future 4wd truck (probably a Gladiator, sorry). Great job as always Chloe!
Hi! Chloe, I would like your valued and trusted opinion. have you seen any orange tacos, what do you think of that color on a truck, to loud, or is this a good color choice?
This video made me smile I’m probably one of the many people who recommended this to you. I do however have a couple of recommendations, first I would consider bed stiffeners this will prevent your composite box from spreading overtime. My recommendation would be total chaos bed stiffeners these work extremely well with the deck system. Now I don’t know if you plan to eventually put a canopy on your truck I have my recommendations for that if you’re interested, Like you I do a lot of research into my products. Now you do a lot of driving in the desert so that means a lot of dust and you have a tonneau cover to help keep it out, but you relocated electrical outlet and the way you sealed up the hole to help keep the dust out I believe overtime with wetness and damn well give way and you will end up filling the back with dust which is not idyllic especially for your camera equipment I do photography too so keeping my expensive gear safe is really important to me. My recommendation for this would be to get a piece of plastic or a small stainless steel plate the size of the electrical outlet drill a hole in it so the outlet can come true install the plate with some silicone to prevent the dust from getting back there. That was a big job in a big investment nice job truck is looking more and more like mine every day LOL. PS the one area that I’m not the biggest fan of was the bottle opener this works well for short bottles however a long neck bottle will cause spillages and my friends view this as alcohol abuse , but hey like I said to them by twist top then.
We did the same but we custom made ours out of wood and made a control panel for led lights as well as a battery bank stowed away underneath we then topped it with a topper and safari rack on top of topped as well as the cab
I’m thinking just have the Deck System delivered to you, and leave the vehicle outside your garage with a note, dinner request and payment options. 😂 … Nice video and hard work. Awesome! 😎
Hey Chloe, I see that the forward tie downs are above your Decked drawer system, did you raise them and if so did you use a backing plate when mounting?
Found a used on in SD and I'm meeting up with the owner this weekend. If I were to skip the drilling process do you think we can have it transferred over pretty quickly? Also, is it pretty easy for a thief to just unbolt the top to remove the panels and access the contents of the drawers?
Now you need to get a topper with carpet over the top. So you can sleep In the back. Lots of space back there blow up camp sleep mat. Than u get under storage and whole back bed. Out of the weather. Sleeper. Another 3grand you will have a perfect setup. Don't let other people tell you otherwise.
So is the system completely anchored to the plastic bed liner only via the holes you drill and tap, or does the system take advantage of wedging itself betweem structural elements as bracing? I have concern that the bed liner is meant to withstand outward pressure from heavy loads in the bed, but not so much forces pulling it in any one direction (like if you have a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the Decked and back into a tree stump or get rear-ended at low speed, will it break whatever retains the bed liner?).
Relocated the outlet is a great idea! Now I’m wondering if the wiring is long enough or if there’s a way to diy an extension to relocate the outlet out the back(or front depending on how you look at it) of the decked.
Howdy there Chloe I have a few questions that I was hoping you could answer for me. Could you measure 2 places, the first would be from the top of the Decked platform how many inches is it to the to of the bed? And from the left and right of the bed by the tailgate how many inches to the drawer opening from each side of the bed. I hope that makes sense. I have a Diamondback tonneau cover and some bed support braces that I need to take in consideration before I purchase the Decked product. Thank you for your time and love your videos on Tacoma upgrades :)
Great video Chloe! Is there a way to install the outlet on the rear of the Decked box facing the tailgate and not inside the ammo box? Maybe run the wires through the ammo box? Seems to be much easier access and can install right side up. Curious if you considered that or if not possible due to wire length? Thx.
Pro tip, if you wanted to save weight inside the drawers for a trip or anything, like the heavy for example, You can DIY Velcro tie downs to the decked platform and you can take them on and off as much as you want and move anything around and the decked deosnt get damaged at all
Can i just build it and then just throw it in the bed of the truck? Not screwing it to the bed. I want to be able to remove it easily just in case i need the entire bed for cargo.
Love it!! I will be ordering one as soon as I figure where I can deliver it too. That big box, probably won't fit in my apartment building front door. LOL
Let’s see a video on all your recovery gear. Obviously yours will be different from mine, you living in Cali me in Washington state. Let’s see what you carry. Keep up the dope work!
That ruler is perfect for measuring striper bass. Btw, Flex Seal tape or any good plumbers tape would work and have a better seal than wire tape. But, you gotta do wutcha gotta do. Good vid!
Being a year later, have you had any trouble with your DIY outlet relocation? With the cable being exposed to the elements??? I plan on doing the same thing when i install my system. That idea was genius
at 14:13. what do you screw into? mine is just big holes. i think it’s supposed to have a threaded metal nut molded into it or a nut? mine is missing something i think
How do you get to stuff that goes up the front of the drawers? Honestly, it doesn't look like a very efficient design, but there are countless custom drawer companies around Oz, so I'm used to seeing designs that leave no space unused.
So I am currently putting a Decked on my Tacoma but before I did I put on a hvy OME leaf springs bc I’m adding a Leer and CBI bumper with a tire carrier. So as of right now the trucks rear is a little raked but will be level with those added. I wanted to get the leafs on bf I added oppose to after the fact.
Been looking to install one of these in my ZR2. Still up in the air about it. We are a family of 5 and bring A LOT of gear. Question of the day....how many Costco Totes will each drawer fit?
Got a tonno cover for that too, Chloe? It's a good idea to protect the entire bed like that with a tonno cover. Shields it from everything the elements throw at it.

Decked + RSI cap and full roof rack. Custom 700lb leaf pack to mate with my factory pro suspension.
How do you like the RSI smart cap? I have always wanted one
@@ChloeKuo Chloe I wish I could tell you. Endless Covid waiting. Should have it all installed this month 🤞.
Great Video Chloe!
Hi will the decked fit in a Toyota Hilux that has a rear tub plastic liner or will the liner need removing ?
With the drilling holes and relocating the outlet, would it be an issue for rain getting to those areas?
Good vid!
Do you need a bed cover/lining ( line x) or can I just install it onto bare metal?
Amazing vid. Great hostess and co-host! Subscriber well-earned!👍
i think i’d rather have the roller retrax tonneau cover.
but that is just what would work for my tacoma.
your truck is awesome.
Being a year later, have you had any trouble with your DIY outlet relocation? With the cable being exposed to the elements??? I plan on doing the same thing when i install my system. That idea was genius
Still works to this day!
Righteous, tysm!
Good job putting that Deck in the back of that 🌮.
Does dirt and debree get underneath it and how to clean underneath the decked unit
I loved my decked drawers but I loved getting rid of them more.
at 14:13. what do you screw into? mine is just big holes. i think it’s supposed to have a threaded metal nut molded into it or a nut? mine is missing something i think
I'm not that interested in the storage system but I watched the video anyways because your videos are super interesting. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks 😊😊😊
TeamTeal. Nice Makita Miter Saw in the back and tools.
Looks like a great addition for you Chloe! Thanks for the video!
Been looking to install one of these in my ZR2. Still up in the air about it. We are a family of 5 and bring A LOT of gear. Question of the day....how many Costco Totes will each drawer fit?
Wait you got pews pews? Maaad props!
It wasn't obvious, but it appeared you took out the molle panels to get the system in, correct?
What about using your truck tent?? Does it still fit?
Yes it still fit! Went camping with it last weekend 😀
Is that your snap on box in the background? You should show your tools!
@What's Up? just cool to see what other people use
@What's Up? it’s something I want to see 🤷♂️
I am interested in the 12 volt outlet. Is it a modification you did?
Yes it was. I cut into the ammo can to relocate it
Subscribed as soon as she said "pew pews". She knows what's up.
I'm thinking on pairing this with a RSI smart cap topper with a drop rack. Would be perfect
I wonder if a regular size golf bag would fit in the big drawer?
Icon add a leaf. Easy install solve issue. Unless planning on a lot of over-landing gear. Not sure if you have a leveled taco.
Definitely on my list of things to get! Thanks for the thorough review
Where did you get the bed rail at the front of the bed?
Is a second person necessary to install this?
A while back you showed a truck bed tent, how does that work if at all with the decked system?
It works well! 😁 I have a video coming up about it soon
Now you need a camper shell. That'd make the ultimate toy.
I agree!!
An AT Atlas would look sweet and function nicely! Love all of your mods!
Kinda sucks if you have a kayak with a decked system, not sure how it would work together?
Got a tonno cover for that too, Chloe? It's a good idea to protect the entire bed like that with a tonno cover. Shields it from everything the elements throw at it.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I m gonna think to put the same for my Tacoma offroad
Chloe,
Very cool system. Will this work with your Right Line Bed Tent, or is it too tall?
This worked with my rightline bed tent well! I lost height but I could fully sit up without hitting my head
Never sell that truck! Great Video!
