    I'd rather see 15 goldfishes in a 1000L aquarium than 3 goldfishes in a 20L one, sure it's not usual and goldfish are often overlooked by aquarists for beeing not enough fancy or too common, I love how it turn out in this setup, they're like chill giants in a micro world.

    Actually I loved seeing the goldfish in a natural looking tank for a change. They're so often kept in bare minimum tanks it was nice seeing something new.

    The only major problem I see is the water temp. Goldfish like it around 22 C, and GB rams like it around 28 C; a pretty large disparity and a middle ground will just shorten both of their lives. But appearance wise, I think it looks very nice. Thanks for the update, MJ. Take care.

      Actually goldfishes are really tolerant, at least the normal type and i've got some that are more than 30 years old in an garden aquarium (4000l) which is over 29°C at the bottom in summer and freezes in winter so 4°C at the bottom. I'm more "saddened" by the type of goldfish chosen when you know the level of inbreeding done to obtain stable abnormalities of this lvl... But at least those ones should be as happy as a fish can be

    As those goldfish get older they will probably decimate the fish and plants that were there before them. For now it's great, would love to see a follow up a year from now.

    This is exactly the reason this hobby is brilliant.. it has something for everyone.. if we all confirmed to the same stocking it would be boring. I think it balances well, I wouldn't have bubble rams as I feel this species adaptation shouldn't exist. But looks great!!

    I like it. I love planted goldfish tanks. People think you can’t do it but you absolutely can. All of these species are tolerant of temp variations and none are aggressive. Should be fine if there’s no fin nipping or goldfish eating the small ones. I think the main issue would actually be making sure everyone eats. Some are faster than others. And the other issue would be regular water changes but that seems easy here.

    Surely the aquarium temperature will be an issue? I know goldfish can tolerate higher temperatures for the short term, I don't see how the health of cold water and tropical fish will be good long term.
    I'm sorry but just not keen on mixing them ☹️

    • @Josh_Stuchbery
      @Josh_Stuchbery 2 года назад +4

      A big misconception is that goldfish are 'cold water fish', when really they are 'temperate' fish. This means they can live in a wide range of temperatures. Plenty of people who live in tropical climates keep goldfish without ever having a problem.

    • @goldfishinaflex4030
      @goldfishinaflex4030 2 года назад +2

      Depends on where the goldfish were bred. Those bred in Asia (Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, etc) live in warm temperatures ranging from 24 to 31 degree celcius throughout the year.

    BEAUTIFUL aquarium! I agree that the rams have got to go! But aside from that, it will just be a natter of time before they decide to eat the plants or not. My goldies don't touch of my anubias, ferns, or buce plants. But lobelias cardinalis, and any other plants will be eaten. The only other plants I have had luck with are red plants. They seem to freak mine out a bit and wont even nibble on them at all. The bright side to this stocking is no ferts needed here!

    to my surprise it looks great. I strongly suspect that that substrate will definitely show the excess waste load after 6 months or so, thats a very light colored tank bed and those fish will strain the substrate appearance with waste even with that massive filtration setup. But if they can afford that tank customization and setup, they can afford someone to do the hard work of maintaining that level of cleanliness. Good for them, it keeps people employed! And if they do it all themselves, also good for them!

    I’ve always loved fancy goldfish. When I had some, they were in a community tank. As long as everyone gets along, and the owner loves it, who cares? The only question I would have is how the goldfish get along in the depth of the tank? I’ve always ‘heard’ they should be kept in longer, shallower depth. Not sure if that was urban legend or not. I had mine in a 30 long.

  • @WytchyStitches

    Gold fish in a planted tank are lovely for sure but my two concerns would length of time for that number of them as they grow in that tank and how long water parameters remain stable with that number.

  • @dtw1622
    @dtw1622 2 года назад

    The biggest issue with this combination is the different husbandry requirements, right? Temp wise he’s going to make the goldfish suffer by keeping it warm, the rams suffer by keeing it cooler, or make both suffer by meeting in the middle.

I've had some of my tropical fish in an emergency quarantaine tank with some of my Goldfish (emergency situation) and they ate and/or decapitated pretty much anything in there.. Neon Tetra, guppies, platies,.. I'm telling you they WILL try and eat any fish that is smaller than them! I had to manually remove an otocinclus that was stuck in my Goldfish's mouth. So good luck 😁🙈

    I would’ve gone for something like a group of koi angelfish, otherwise the scape and plants look gorgeous! I can’t bother but feel a little uncomfortable with the stocking, cardinal tetras and rams thrive in warm soft waters, goldfish and guppies feel comfortable in cooler harder water, and as the goldfish grow they might choke and die on the corydoras spines as they’re foraging on the bottom. But hey, the fish look happy and the owner looks like he’s gonna take good care.

    • @888fluffy
      @888fluffy 2 года назад

      'sheeple'? I mean, there's a reason more experienced aquascapes pick certain stocking. it's not just a fashion trend. Fancy goldfish are large, inbred, and they eat plants, not really a good fit for most aquascapes. balloon rams aren't preferred because of the inbreeding too.
      I keep cpds, shrimp and otos because it's tried and true. they get along so well, and they're so suited to the aquascape. i don't want to have to constantly worry about fish not liking the Scape or not getting along. I've had the Scape up for the years and haven't ever had a problem with the fish, which leaves all my time for the Scape.
      sometimes there's a reason the popular combos are popular.

    Those fancy goldfish look stunning in there but they'll eventually tear everything apart. I don't mind the small fish, I like the look of schools of tetras in a big tank, however the guppies will multiply uncontrollably so that may not be so good. The people suggesting discus and angels... meh I think they're overrated, they're the fancy obvious choice for livingroom aquariums and they have become all too common imho. I think there are other equally fancy stocking choices that aren't the typical discus or angels
