The reality is, no technique is gonna look pretty in a fight. Since the days of the Samurai, Jujutsu never looked pretty on the battlefield. Daitō-Ryū Aikijūjutsu is the oldest form of it and is the main base art of Hapkido. I’ve seen Aikijūjutsu techniques done in real fights. They are never pretty in action. I practiced Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Jūdo and Atemi-Ryū Jūjutsu. I know from fighting experience, nothing is absolute. No style is absolute.
Not related, but what knuckles do you strike with in Hapkido? Does it depend on your angle in relation to the target? Thanks!
It definitely depends on the Angle in relation to the target. But generally speaking the index and middle finger knuckles are primarily used
