Vicinity of Obscenity - Guitar Cover and Tabs - System of a Down

New Year, new cover! This time one of the more tricky System of a Down songs - Vicinity of Obscenity
Tuning - Drop C#
C#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#
This one is quite the finger twister to start with so take it slow and build up the muscle memory. The intro is probably the hardest riff to nail as the emphasis on notes is a bit syncopated.
During the clean part I believe that the chord stabs are both Am but the first one is an inversion and then the second one is a regular one. Looking at live videos Daron moves the position of the chord but they sound very similar. I think he may also play single notes during the chorus sometimes live, rather than the power chords.
For those curious - video and audio are recorded separately, it results in a better video for everyone 🤘

I'm working with a small 15-30w peavey combo amp (no pedals) w/ a Dean Cadillac, what accessories do I need for clean up my powercords on the main riffs from this song? Despite a couple of hours practicing, I can't get a clearer tone on the riff @ 0:33.

You shouldn't really need to add anything extra. Possibly try rolling back the gain a bit and pay close attention to whether you're hitting any other strings when playing the power chords. You only need to hit the bottom two strings. Noise gates can be helpful to keep a guitar quiet sections but won't affect it much when the chords are ringing out.

I had to get it up to speed over several days. Using a metronome and slowly pushing up the BPM will help. Also guitar pro is a useful program for learning songs. You can loop a section and have it increase in speed on each repeat.
