People will do everything to justify their stupidity. I once told a guy that his car blocks the pavement (you had to go through the lawn because he didn't want the wheels to be on the grass) and he said that he bought a very heavy cabinet. I told him to go to the gym next time so that he has the power to carry it. Of course he started to mouth off so I said that he shouldn't try fighting people if he can't lift a fucking piece of furniture.

In my country there was a driver stuck behind a garbage truck in a narrow street. He drove on the sidewalk to pass the garbage truck. Nearly hit a pedestrian.
Police in an unmarked vehicle witnessed this. (They sometimes follow garbage trucks because of complaints about behaviour like this). They stopped the driver, and his vehicle was taken away from him. The vehicle is now owned by the state and can be sold at auction. The driver can expect a judge taking away his licence and giving a several €1000 fine for reckless driving and endangering a pedestrian. I really hope that one day your legal system takes this as serious as it should be taken.

When the traffic police are there on the spot issuing tickets several things happen. One is they’re doing their jobs. Two, they’re generating revenue for the city to make it even better. Three, it reinforces the right message and restoration of public order. This should not be underestimated in a civil society.
