    Finally, a great video with explanations reflecting the wiring standard (Au/NZ) we use in our country. Alot of videos on RUclips are American standards.

    Fantastic...finally someone explaining it simply and to the point. Would love to see a video on adding an extra circuit to a switch board. Sparky dave nz did one a while back but would like to see an Aussie doing it here using our setups. Another one would be installing a ceiling fan in a room. There is no law that says you cannot show someone how to do it.

      Thank you for the feedback 👍 A ceiling fan is definitely something I want to do including how to put the support beam in the roof ect.

      @@allelectricalau No worries, that would be fab as well as adding an extra power or lighting circuit. There are no channels apart from sparky dave nz and now you going into detail etc. Yes fully aware about the laws etc, but there is no law to stop you from showing viewers how to do things correctly.

      @@allelectricalau yes absolutely. What you are doing is purely for educational purposes and if anything saving lives. Why? because those that may disobey local laws and do something incorrectly can end up seriously injured if not dead. That applies not only to electricity, but plumbing, carpentry, welding, metal working, brick laying even tiling. There is always a right and wrong to do anything in life. We should be thankful and greatful that there are people out there like yourself willing to share invaluable knowledge that imo will save lives not cause them! Kudos to you!!

    Out of Curiosity/OCD Any reason you can't transpose the Twin at one end so when both switches are in the off position the light is off? Thanks for the great video

    • @allelectricalau
      @allelectricalau  Год назад +2

      Yes you could transpose so the light would be off with both switches off. Two on= no light. Two off= no light. One on one off=light on

    Hello, thanks for the description. I have a circuit wired as per your diagram. I wish to add a new light which will be located close to switch #1. Is it possible to add another light from switch #1 to come on using the same circuit? Or do I have to run a long cable from switch #2 back to the new light I wish to add.

    Hi, thank you for the good video.
    I have a question. 5:56, light is off when switch 1 is off position, the other switch is on position. in 2 way switching, switches are not the same position. when one is on, another one is off even though light is on. is it normally like this? thank you.

    In NZ they appear to use 3 core yellow TPS for 3 way switching, but in Australia we just use twin active?. Is it a new standard like the blue TPS for A/C but it just hasn't caught on here?

    1. With 3way and 4way switches, would it be the same theory just expanded out?
    2. Can you put dimmers on 2, 3 or 4 way switching?

      Yes that's fine. It comes down to personal preference and how many neutrals you have at the switches for other lights ect. I find a connector can join more neutrals and provide a solid conmection.

      If the connectors are the newer Clipsal ones they can be single screw because the terinamtion point is more square unlike the older ones which were more circular

      You can tell atleast 50% of people commenting for advice are diy guys with no clue and he's giving advice, fair enough if you're an apprentice, these videos are great but for the diy guys, it's illegal and dangerous, call an electrician, if your house burns down or family injured/killed from your handy work its on you.
